I know there were several of us that had National rentals this month, and no one seemed to be getting any lower rates a couple of weeks ago. Has that changed for anyone in this situation? Lots of time my rate will go down as I get closer to my trip, but this trip it just keeps going up and up and up.

Anyone having any luck?

I'm going in August and can't get it any lower than $214. That's the most I've paid in the summer in many years.

Nothing lower for me and we leave on the 20th. I remember the same thing happened to me last July too. I guess car rentals are up for this month and they don't have to drop the rates. I'm happy with mine ($100 total for 6 days--full size/Executive Aisle). But like everyone, I would've been even happier to save even more. I hope it drops for September. I have a full size reserved, but was hoping to switch it to a minivan. Glad I made my ressies many months ago when the rates were lower.

Mine is $135 for 7 days, emerald aisle. I am not used to paying more than $100, so this is not so good. I did have luck on one trip with my rate going down on the morning of my trip, so I guess I will give that a try again this Friday.

Hi,

May I ask what codes you are using? I'm getting a rate of 145 for 5 days in October for a inter. and that's with priceless

I'm getting a total of $100 for 6 days using the priceless code of 6600330 and the $20 coupon code 10009123. I have the price of a intermediate, but am guaranteed a full size since we are one level up from Emerald Aisle (we are Executive Aisle). I made mine when the rates were much lower many months ago.

I have $272.00 for 10 days July 21-31. This is the most we have ever paid, I hate to do it but I may go tho Thrifty, it is about $200 for the same dates.

I feel like calling National and see if they will match thrifty rates.

I check two or three times a day and it never goes lower.

I use priceless and a $20.00 BJ,s coupon.

Geez I thought it was just me. I can't get over how expensive the car rentals are this summer. It is just crazy!

I really believe it is because of DME.

I have never paid this much for a rental. Thrifty is about $160.00 cheaper ,but I hate to not use EA.

I just modified my 8 day rental from EA Intermediate $130.36 to Emerald Reserve Full size $136.88 using priceless code and entertainment $20 coupon. The rental is for the 3rd week of August. I had to use the modify function, if I booked a new reservation it was over $200 for the 8 days.

I am using the Am-ex code from mousesaver's site and the $20.00 printable National coupon from their site.

August rates are falling but they are not as good as what was out there this past March when you could get a week at any time for $99.

Example: My August rental is currenty at $143 for 5 days (decided last week to go to the Swan). My October quote for 10 days (quote from March) is $150.

There is hope, however. My best quote for my June trip was $134, and I had that quote 4 days before leaving.

I am bummed out as well. I keep reading about how inexpensive and great National is on these Boards, and I see everyone else's rates, but all I can get is $183 for a week in late August. We didn't decided to go until a month and a half ago, though. I keep checkaing, hoping for some pixie dust...

Ok I'm confused about the rate codes. Can someone help me please.CAn i use the priceless code and the entertainment coupon together? Also to use these what do I need to do? Do I have to have a membership to the priceless club? Do I need to have a entertainment book? I don't want to get there and not be able to get my discounts. Please help and explain this all to me.What do I need to take with me to get discounts?

To make a long story short ,if you use Priceless(6600330)
you don't need anything, if you have a coupon,ie Entertainment that you printed online, that's all you need.

If you use a BJ's coupon, it is good practice to have you card with you, they have checked mine in the past.

Good luck.

BTW , I have been a loyal National EA customer for years, I am going to use Thrifty for my rentals next week.(Two rentals). I cannot justify spending $160.00 more for the cars especially since they really don't have too many cars other than intermediate on the EA lately.

I hope more people do this to send them a message. I think they are not making the money they usually do because of the DME and they are making it up on the people that aren't using DME.

ok so I just need to print the entertainment coupon off line. Then i use that coupon id and put in the priceless contract number in instead of the contract number that is on the entertainment coupon. Is that all I have to do? Won't they see a different contract number when i give them the coupon?Confused about this.

I've done this many times (5-6 trips a year) and it's never been a problem. If the website doesn't want you to do something, believe me, it wouldn't let you.

Yes. That's all you do. But try Thrifty, with 6676 code and see what you get. I bet it will be cheaper by a lot.

Do I need anything special for the thrifty code. Also I see they are off site is that a pain to get the shuttle?

Just join Blue Chip and you will get a membership number. In a week you will get your card and the code.

You will go to the Blue Chip line at the counter and all your info is in the computer,I'm told it is quite painless and the shuttle is there all the time.
