Hello,

We are booking a 4 night July cruise. I'd like any feedback on which ship to chose, we can do the Magic, Dream or Wish. We have previously sailed the Dream in 2019, so I have a good idea of its offerings. This will be an adult only cruise with DH and I, so kid clubs, etc. do not matter. We would utilize the spa/rainforest room, the main dining, the night life, the entertainment, etc. Things I loved about the Dream were the spa/rainforest, I loved the deck with the walk around course that was non-crowded....etc. Help us decide:-).

Also, I have never cruised in later summer before--can you give me an idea of what to expect? We've done March (the water in the Bahamas was a bit chilly for us, and we said no more winter sailings, lol), and May (absolutely perfect smooth sailing).

As an adult, I don't feel the Wish is for me, as I feel it is geared to little ones. And if you did like the straight around walking track, the Wish doesn't have that. Given those points, I would rule out the Wish.

I haven't been on the Magic in many years and I know there have been a lot of changes, so I can't say much about that except I always liked it and felt the adult offerings were decent (dedicated space, enough of a pool/bar area, etc...). But IMO, the Dream (and Fantasy) are the front runners for adults. Satellite Falls and the decks around it, Currents, the Cove Bar, all offer ample space for adults during the day. The District offers a nice area for nighttime.

Very helpful! I have seen several you tubers now say the Wish isn't their thing. It makes you realize newer isn't always better. We know we probably won't go wrong regardless, and we are so excited. We plan do to a few park days and then take a shorter cruise to relax after, the perfect combo. I had forgotten about the Fantasy too, will keep that in mind if it is doing shorter Florida sails.

Now it may be deciding between Lookout Point and Castaway--love Castaway, but Lookout (despite the flies) is looking pretty relaxing too.

I was at LC in December and only saw a few flies around the food area. It wasn't horrible. We went again a couple weeks ago and I don't recall seeing 1 fly.

If I were you, I'd choose the Magic. Since you've already sailed the Dream, I'd pick something new. We didn't dislike the Wish as much as many others, but I would still choose classics over the Wish. The two factors I'd consider in this case are the full walk around promenade Deck 4 and the better adult pool area on the Magic. Especially since it is just the two of you, I think you'll use those more!

Does the Magic, if I am understanding correctly, have the full walking deck thing too? Like the dream? Thank you!!

We did a couples cruise on the Magic and really enjoyed the couples villas in the spa and the adults only pool deck. We’ve also sailed the Wish and Fantasy with our kids and loved those for family vacations but I think the adults only areas may be better on the Magic. We also really enjoyed sailing out of Fort Lauderdale. I can’t comment on lookout cay because our ship rerouted to castaway cay due to a storm. I was disappointed in the adults only beach at castaway cay - very short and sloped.

We have done 2 couples cruises on the Wish. I think we are done. If feels too crowded, too busy. I prefer deck 4 on the other ships. You really can't go wrong with any of the cruises you mentioned. July will be warm. But not like WDW warm. The motion of the ship on the ocean provides a breeze.

Is there an itinerary you like better? Honestly, I'd choose the itinerary, not the ship (unless I guess you plan to not get off the ship at all).

My order would be Dream, Magic, then Wish

That would be another deciding factor--if we do the Magic, it will go to Lighthouse Point. If we do the Dream again it goes to Castaway Cay. We've been to Castaway--but some of the You Tube we are seeing people seemed disappointed in Lookout Point (we don't mind the longer walkway as much--but the flies???).

We just wouldn't get off the ships that go to Nassau--the private islands are more where it is at in my experience (Castaway and RC Perfect Day were both pretty awesome--with a slight edge to Castaway for me).

We didn't have a problem with flies at Lookout when we were there in December 2024. A few, here and there, but nothing like when they first started bringing ships there. Personally, I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor at this point.

Flies are no longer an issue at Lookout Cay, that was just the first few sailings. DCL took care of it pretty quickly. Honestly, go experience it for yourself. Everyone is entitle to their own opinion, but everyone also has their own preferences and perspectives.

I went to LP in Sept, and the flies were really bad

It’s either the Dream or Magic. The question is either Lookout or Castaway. Unless you are like me and just prefer the ship. I haven’t been on the Dream or Magic, but I have been on the Fantasy (9) and Wonder (1). I’ll take the Dream, but I also don’t recall too much of the Wonder since it was an Alaskan cruise.
