So we are going to one of our local RV shows here in Oaks, PA (providing there is not more freaking snow!!) and are thinking about possibly buying either a new pop up or buying a hybrid. Husband is buying a new tow vehicle with the tax refund so bye bye mini van! :) We were thinking about moving our trip up to July, I am just really worried about the crowds as we have always been when it is not crazy crowded. If we go in July we can spend almost two weeks possibly but if we go in August we can only spend a week. I know I know some time is better than no time, but I was just wondering what all of you wonderful people thought?

I haven't been to Fort at those times but I am a Southerner and July and August are both HOT n humid temp wise. FWIW Alabama schools start back early August 8/5 so seems like crowds would start lessening then.

Personally If I could spend two weeks instead of one at fort I would lean toward July. just plan bunch of days away from parks and at fort to cool off :crowded::crowded:and avoid some of the crowds! I have used websites that predict crowd levels on our last trip and was surprised how much it helped w doing certain parks on specific days to avoid crowds.

Some of our smart DISers will know the answers! :crowded:

Of course July 4 will be busy but other then that July and August are pretty much the same. We frequently ride our bike through the Fort in the summer and not as busy as holidays, always empty sites. Yes it will be hot and humid (no surprise it is FL). Pick what works best for you just avoid around July 4th.

Also we were from the Oaks area (Royersford) and now live on the east coast of FL. Don't miss the snow and this winter was very tough for many in way to many states.

You will enjoy the Fort no matter what time of the year. Safe travels.

It has been the worst we live in west chester, we were without power for six days when the ice storm came through and now there is more than a foot of snow! My poor pop up is covered and all I can do is look out at it and day dream. I am hoping that the oaks show is pretty good. Not sure if we will buy or not. I would be taking DS out of school but now with all these missed days they will not allow it at all.

We have been a number of times in July and August. After July 4th weekend and before the last week in August, the crowds, heat, daily rain, prices, and park hours are about the same. The crowds may be less the last week of August when some schools start. I would go 2 weeks in July over 1 week in August!

we'll bring some of this snow with us when we go in July...:lmao:

Steve,

At the rate things are going you don't need to bring this snow. You'll probably get some more storms in June and July so bring the fresh stuff.

Nothing but the best, right? :sad2:

Yeah I will definitely bring some down with me! I am so sick of it, its so bad that DS woke up yesterday looked at his step father and said Do I have to go to school today cant I stay home with you and mom? FYI it was Saturday. They have taken away basically all of their days off for spring break and this past week they were supposed to be all half days and two days off for conferences, well they made them all full days and that did not help at all as they had off Thursday and Friday. So to say that I can not wait for my trip to Disney is an absolute understatement!!!

We have been there in July and will also be there this July, HOT-yes, plan for it and you should do fine. Crowds around the 4th- yes, just did New Years so we are used to it. Me I would go when you have the most time to do it, 1 so you can take your time driving that far and 2 more time to spend and enjoy while you are there. Just my opinion. We plan to hit the Oaks also just did Timonium Md. and we are not far from you here in De. and we are sick of the snow also and we are skiers.

We are also going to the rv expo in Oaks. We are planning on buying a Hybrid we had a pop-up but time to upgrade. We are planning on going at the end of August to the Fort.

I am really hoping to buy something new at the show but we may have to wait for the one In Hershey in September. I really do not want to but who knows. We shall see.
