July/August Code Watch

Waiting for August codes here as well! My parents asked me to help them get the best deals for their August (possibly September) vacation so I'm trying to find some good ones!

I am waiting right along side of y'all.... If I can get a good rate I plan on extending the vacation in August---do Timeshare for a week and a few days on property....

SO: since we have nothing better to do while waiting, why don't we share our "strategies" for scoring an AP rate? I'll go first... (and you can tell me if this is a bad plan). I am going to start calling every morning when they first open and every evening right before they close. This way I will either call when the codes are finally "there" OR perhaps I will get the "heads up" on codes that come out the next morning... I have thought of dialing on BOTH our cell phones on that fateful day and hoping one line gets through more quickly, but started to realize that if I took this any further I was probably getting into the "lunatic" zone so I decided call on one phone only...

Anyone else?

I watch these boards and Mousesavers and I keep checking throuhout the day. Last year I got on the phone the morning the AP rates came out. They were having problems with their computer system! Just kept trying until I got through and got the hotels I wanted at the AP rate. I think I was booked by 8:00am or so.

What kind of Ap discount do ya'll think it will be? The straight $100 off deluxe, $40 off mods like for the first part of the summer? Does anyone recall what the Ap discount was like for the spring? Boy, do I miss those 45% off days!

Seems to me I remember paying $85 off deluxe last year in Value season, but who knows what this year will bring. Let's just hope we get something!

Cm's are kept in the dark about code releases, and don't know until the day they're released. That way they keep people from leaking it to the boards.

I just called CRO....and there are no codes out yet...The CM said its got to be soon.....He also said that they will probably not come out on a Sun....
I know they have befor...so we all know how much he knows.....
Oh well he was nice though!

I do think it will be soon. Last year it was on May 5th. Since that is the official start of HCE I wonder if they will come out a few days earlier?? Or maybe later.... ????

At any rate--some good news. I just did a "test" on the Disney site for the first two weeks of July, beginning July5. I had my choice of all resorts. So there is def. availabilty. Makes me feel better!!

Dalpal-- Where did you get your timer? Much better than mine.

Hiya! Newbie here. Count me in for the July/August code watch. DH and I are taking the girls to WDW mid July and we're so excited. I've been there before but no one else has. We live in CA and are seasoned DL veterans. I think my 6 year old is going to lose her little mind!

I'm not sure if you realise it, but you came off as VERY condescending. Specificaly the line:

"I know they have befor...so we all know how much he knows....."

You do realise the CM's you speak with only go with the history they know. They do not have the ability to check when the rates were released in previous years. Please keep in mind that you are dealing with individuals and their experience with the company, so it is possible that in his experience they have not released the AP/FLA rates on a Sunday.

I have the 25% DVC cash discount on a VWL studio Aug 19-21 but if an AP discount comes out that would even lower that rate I'll be trying for it

I really don't think anyone meant anything negative about CM's who work for reservations.

Let's keep positive as we are all wishing for those great AP rates later this week!! I am hoping for Tuesday as that is the day it will be easier for me to call!! Dream on.....
