July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

Hey Lori - sending buckets of pixie dust your way. It's the weirdest thing: I dreamed last nite that we had a mouse in our house! Mickey is making his rounds, right?! That's gotta be it. Or else we both need a mouser around the house. :cat: Hope Brandon feels better quickly, too. Sending hugs!

Amy

Here's hoping that Brandon gets better *soon* :wizard: If it's soon enough, maybe you can still make the WDW trip....

Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes!!! Brandon does have an ear infection, so we're trying to decide what to do. The Dr wasn't totally against us flying out on Saturday, so we'll have to see. I'll keep you all posted!!!

Lori,

I bet he'll be just fine by Saturday. You still have a couple days for him to start feeling better. Since it is an ear infection, the antibiotics should have kicked in by then. Just make sure you have gum or lollipops to help his ears pop on the plane. I'm glad it happened at your home instead of at WDW, that would not have been fun.

Much pixie dust coming your way! Let us know what happens.

Thanks Karen!!! I've been to Centra Care at WDW when Brandon developed bronchitis. He also has asthma, so whenever he gets sick that flares up too. My poor son is a walking pharamacy!! He's currently taking: singular, zyrtec, augmentin, albutorol and pulmicort. The last two are via a nebulizer and he just LOVES that!!!

Geez, Lori, between Brandon being sick and on all of that stuff and your vacation plans being in limbo, we might have to get you a valium prescription!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I hope he gets better quickly, and that you guys are able to enjoy your WDW vacation.

PLEASE!!!!

Lori -- so sorry to hear about Brandon's ear infection. I hope he is feeling better and that the meds kick in before your vacation!! Poor kid!

So did you get the mouse??? I have a cat I could send your way --- of course he is so lazy he would probably push over and make room in your bed for the mouse!!!! :confused3

Better than our first cat... He was actually scared of mice :rotfl: The one time I actually set him on a mouse in the house, he took one look at me and ran away.

Thanks!! He does seem a little better now, but I still think we're leaning towards cancelling. Brandon cries when we land anyway, WITHOUT an ear infection, so with an ear infection, and the possible fluid buildup, not a good combination.

As for the mouse... Well, it is still currently barricaded (I hope) in the basement. I did buy traps at the store when getting Brandon's prescriptions filled, but I'm NOT going down there to set them!!! My cat (who is 1 and weighs 16 lbs) is completely oblivious to the whole thing, and probably would make friends with the mouse. So, I have to wait for Darren to come home to set the traps for the mouse. Hopefully, we can catch it soon. The kids playroom is the entire basement, so I haven't let them downstairs today. Luckily, Brandon isn't in a real playful mood, it's only Julianna is bummed about staying away from the basement.

Well, I'll keep you guys posted about our vacation saga. The one bright spot is all of this, is look at all the posts that have generated from this!!! We might get a whole page out of this!!!!

Lori--pixie dust for Brandon and your trip. I bet the antibiotics will be well into his system by Saturday! Also--hope you catch the mouse! I know I wouldn't be sleeping too well until I knew it was out of the house!

Hi Amous! I haven't been on the boards in ages and I'm trying to catch up with 51 pages of posts about the July 9 cruise. I saw where you responded to Sheila regarding "single mom-hood" and arranging for buddies for our kids. My DD is 16 and has been in touch with Sheila's DD. I'm sure she'd be interested in getting to know other kids as well. On our last cruise, she knew 6 kids before we ever set sail. She had a great time and I'm sure she will this time too! Drop me line!

OK...I'm starting to get a little more serious about shopping for the cruise now, and we're debating about attire for formal night for the guys. We were thinking of just renting tuxes for DH and DS4 for formal night, and having them wear dressy khakis, blue blazer, white shirt, and tie for semi-formal and Palo dinner. I figured we'd all look great and get a great family picture...but now I'm wondering if we should do the tuxes or just do another version of the blazer and pants thing for formal night. What do you guys think? What have you done on previous cruises? What are you planning for this one? I'd love to see pics of you guys on formal and semi-formal nights so I can get more of a feel for the difference between the two!

Hi Guys,

Just using this post to show my MIL how the DIS works. At least it will add another post to our goal!! :cheer2:

MIL (Grace) is here for 3 weeks and our house is in an uproar with ceramic tile flooring being installed -- although I use that term loosely, as it's still not done after 5 days and many broken tiles later! :confused3

Hopefully, before we leave on the cruise, we'll have floors!!!:rotfl:

Have a wonderful Easter everyone!

You have to report back with wonderful tales from your zipline trip so all here will want to go. No takers yet. :sad2: I'm draggin' C and T, but I know they'll have a blast once they are up there.

Kim formal night I will be wearing a Tux. If you are going to go "formal", in my mind, that is the only way to go. Having said that I think that if someone wants to wear a very nice suit or a blazer that fine. Sara and I do a lot of "period” things and attend some balls and the invites always say that "Period costumes or formal wear admired not required" and that makes no demands on anyone.
They are not going to exclude any one from dinner if they are not in formal wear. Do what you feel most comfortable with.

But make sure that the white shirts have "French cuffs" that way the men can accessorize with cuff links. I only say this because I love the look ands I collect cuff links

Kim -- I have seen all manner dress for both the formal night and semi-formal night from Tuxes to suits to kakis' and ties. I usually dress my son in a suit and tie since I am never sure if he will be joining me for dinner (he always does). The women are always different too. I personnally like to get really dressed up and will keep it on all night -- it gives me an excuse to shop!!!

Val -- I sympathize on your home improvement project!! I am in the process of having my basement finished -- or should I say still in the process!! I wanted to finish it as a playroom for my son (and to get back the TV in the family room). I wanted room for a pool table, a media room, a wet bar, and an exercise room. Well the contractor talked me out of the exercise room to make more room for the media room (I'm glad he did as I go to the gym and really don't use the equipment -- I sold it). Well he started in January and worked really fast. Everything was pretty much complete by the first week in February except for the custom built bar -- yes that is right -- Dylan's playroom will also be mine!! The pool table, fireplace, and TV look really nice in the pool/bar area but there is a huge gapping hole where the bar should be. As for the media room, it is gorgeous except we are sitting on Lawn Chairs as the media chairs I ordered in January still have not arrived. They have promised delivery three times but due to the manufacturer I am still waiting!! Arghhhh! Needless to say the "basement" warming parties have been postponed several times. Hopefully the bar arrives next week and the chairs April 3 -- I wonder if the basement will be finished befoe the cruise???????

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and that the Easter Bunny is very good to you! I am looking forward to being able to eat sweets again -- although I have lost 5 pounds during lent! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Wow, I should have given up sweets for Lent! :cool1:

Kim, I was going to buy DH a tux, but after reading posts on the main site I decided against it. Most of the posters said there were only a few men with tuxes and most of the others had suits on. That said, if DH really did like to dress up, I would have bought him one. He hates to dress up, though. I am not sure what to do for DS. I guess I'll buy him a suit and just know that it will be the only time he'll wear it.

We are going to Palm Springs for Easter so we'll wave when we go by your town, Kim. :wave2:

What are the rest of the women wearing on formal and semi-formal night? I just don't know what to wear.

Karen
