July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

OK, I think this has gone on long enough. As much as I’d like to think this chain of posts has been amusing to you, the reality is probably that you’re ready to strangle me at this point. Sara’s probably trying to use her Pooh-bah powers as a moderator to remove my DIS account from the system, even as I hit Submit on this post. :badpc:

Lori, you must admit, I do “get it” when it comes to inflating post counts!!!!

Mike: I forgot to ask: What’s a “puba”?

Sooooooooo………..

That's "POOH-BAH".... Didn't you ever watch the Flitstones when you were a kid? Jeeze. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I’m a senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) for a software division of a Fortune 500 financial services company. I’d tell you which one, but then you might all get together and petition them to fire me for this last series of posts!!! Basically, I’m responsible for technology and product strategy for the division, which builds and implements software for banks and other global financial institutions that do corporate lending, loan trading/syndication, risk arbitrage, and credit derivatives. Most of our clients are headquartered or have large operations in cities like New York and London, which is why I have to travel there.

Lori, if Darren works at a major investment banking house in NYC, then I’d be willing to bet they are one of our clients.

Sara, you can now sleep better, knowing you have one less thing to wonder about. Of course, you won’t find out until the week after next whether or not I’m a “dreadful” person!! Did you have any idea that your now-infamous post #317 would touch off such a plethora of mystery, intrigue, speculation, suspense, and most of all, POSTS??!!?? :jumping1:

OK, that’s that. Someone else needs to be on the hot-seat now.

Chris

OK, Chris, I promise to leave you alone for a little bit (tho' I reserve the right to hassle you occasionally if you get too cocky). I'm mostly impressed that you managed to get off 11 posts in 12 minutes... I thought the system wasn't supposed to let you post more often than once a minute.

It's somebody else's turn to chip in a conversational gambit...

Sara

Sara,
It's every 40 seconds. Several times I got rejected when I submitted.

And, Lori, I might add that 11 posts is a day-and-a-half towards our 90-page goal. Are you still of the opinion that "Mr. Chris" doesn't get it?? :teeth: :teeth:

Mike: of course I know what a "Pooh-bah" is, only BECAUSE I was a huge fan of the Flintstones. It was the term "Puba" that threw me. BTW, since I assume you are also a Flinstones fan, what was with that Kazoo character. I never understood that.

I do dumb dumb :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: he was being punished by his overlords...

Now the real reason is the writers had run out of HONEYMOONER episodes to steal storylines from

Ok Chris, now it's your turn to guess who I am. I know exactly who you work for because I used to work for them also.

It's a small world after all.

OK, Sheila, I'll bite. I'd be very impressed if you guessed who I work for from what I've revealed. PM me with your guess, and any other details you can impress me with. If you're right, I promise to tell everyone you got it right.

Of course you have that right, Sara, and I expect you to use it!! Once excursions are discussed and committed to (that's largely done now), the main discourse on these threads involve us joking with and hassling one another!! Oh, and guessing what we each do for a living!!

If you stop hassling me, I really will feel left out.

Mr. Chris - I'll never doubt that you "don't get it" any more...... :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

Lori-

My sister-in-law lives in Queens right past the airport. There is no method to the madness, you never know when or where you are going to be stuck on the belt.

We have a wedding out on Long Island at the end of the month, we are going out Friday to be sure we don't get stuck en route. Even for our JetBlue flights in July, we will go to my sister-in-laws the day before (get excuse for pre-vacation get together) and just take a cab early the next morning. Coming home from CA won't be so bad, we land late and are planning on driving back to NJ late.

Did you check out flying from Allentown? Heard success stories from there!

Have a good day!

Well, folks, I'm still reeling from yesterday's wild post-fest. By my quick count, we had almost 50 posts!! Sara, you might be entitled to two drinks at sail-away for triggering that many posts in one day :drinking: :drinking:

As I promised, I have to give public kudos to Sheila, who not only guessed the company, but the specific division I work for (which is not easy, considering there are at least a dozen divisions and almost 30,000 people here). At first I was dumbfounded when she guessed it so precisely. It turns out she worked just up the hall from me, and that we know each other!!!

My, my, it's a small world. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Oh, and by the way.....it's FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Chris

Ya'll were busy last night! Chris, you kept us on the edge of our seats and huddling around the water cooler discussing our guesses! Thanks for the kudos for knowing your dream occupation. Sorry about the distributor/distributee technicality.... a minor vocabulary malfunction. I was beating around the bush looking for your day job!

I'll be checking in throughout the weekend. With a county holiday today and Monday as my 9/80 day off, I've got a 'homeowners honey do list' for myself that is screaming for my attention.

Let's see, first item to check off the list.....

OOoooo.... I'm officially jelous. I love 9/80 work schedules (not as much as 4/10, but still). Unfortunately, my job requires that I be here all day, every day to provide consistency.

<sigh> Oh well, at least it's Friday.

Sara

So, here's something to figure out - where are we all on the ship relative to each other. Chris has thoughtfully posted his cabin in his .sig, and we're in 6082. Anyone else close to us or each other?

We're in a Guarantee Category 6, so Sara, we might be near you. We should be, but with a guarantee, we won't get our cabin assignment until we get our documents. I'm hoping for a free upgrade to be Chris' neighbor!!!

Maybe Chris could include cabin numbers if known in his next cheat sheet up date.

Speaking of which can I have my own line please. The current one only reinforces Sara assertion that I am a fashion accessory :scared1:

Wow!!! One day away from the boards and look what I missed!!!! Good job on the post count guys! :cool1: Sara--we'll be in cabin 6060--pretty close to you, I think.

Kim

On the cheat sheet thing, my plan was to wait until about a month or so before we sail, gather all of the SR #'s, & then publish an update to whomever asks for one. Not everyone will know theirs at this point, but having SR #'s is very useful on board for communications, since many of us will not know the last names of our fellow DIS friends. I also plan on including early/late seating information, and perhaps a few other useful tidbits (e.g. occupation comes to mind--by then we will have exausted the whole "What's My Line?" thing). Once the cruise is ended (it's hard to even say that at this point), the Cheat Sheet will become a permanent artifact in the official museum we'll need to establish honoring our week at sea.

Lori, I would love it if you guys were our neighbors for a week!!

Sara, if I don't post our cabin on my sig, absent the cheat sheet, how will y'all know where to come for the on-board party??!!?? There's a method to my madness!!
