July 9 Wonder Cruise to Alaska

Talked to Disney....no pirate night. :confused3pirate::sad1::sad1:

Hi - just saw your note above about no pirate night. It looks like there have been pirate nights on the Alaska cruise recently. Did Disney say why there's no pirate night? We've got two little boys and that would be a bummer to miss pirate night! Thanks! Kerin

FE= Fish Extender. On the side of each cabin door is metal fish you can hang things from. It's a mailbox of sorts.

This is my second cruise but first time on the boards so I'm not able to post a link to show you a picture. Hopefully someone will come along soon so you can get a visual of what I'm talking about.

On the boards people will sign up and give out their cabin number along with the ages of the kids and arrange to drop by each other's cabin to drop token gifts in to the mailbox. It's fun!

I was hoping I could get a few families to agree but it's a bit late in the game now. (I'm still open to it....we can keep it simple, people!)

Safe travels! I'm sure you're as excited as I am.

Thanks so much for your explanation. I read up too and now I understand. If we weren't so close to the cruise date, I'd be a cheerleader and see if we could rally our fellow cruisers here. But, I don't have a Fish Extender and don't think I could pull one together in time. Ah well. I'm super excited for the cruise and very grateful to the board already for learning about the door magnets and the signed pillowcases and photo mats. Here's to smooth sailing soon!

I just called Disney myself and Pirate Night is scheduled for Friday night. They explained though that normally there are fireworks off the ship on Pirate night but there are no fireworks due to local regulations. So, as of now they are planning on a Pirate Night, "weather permitting." :confused3

My family and I are packed and itching to hop on a plane to Seattle. Can't wait. Have been looking forward to this trip for a long time now.

We are spending a few days in Seattle before the cruise and just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on site seeing or good restaurants for a family. We plan on doing the Space Needle, the Aquarium. Mostly tourist stuff.

Any ideas would be appreciated. It's our first time there.
I hope we all have a blast on the Cruise!!!!

We actually live just outside Seattle, in Bellevue. There's SO much to do here. One great resource for touring Seattle with kids is a local travel blogger (http://www.deliciousbaby.com/). She has a great section all about Seattle, and many other cities too. Also, I rely on these family "to do" sites all the time for the Seattle area: Parent Map (http://www.parentmap.com/), RedTricycle (http://www.redtri.com/seattle-kids). There are a couple of other sites, but they are slightly more focused on the eastside, which are some of the cities outside of Seattle like Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah, Sammamish, etc.

Getting very excited for next week!

Oh - on a cold or rainy day, we love the Pacific Science Center. The Aquarium is totally fun too, but we can be at the Pacific Science Center for hours (our kids are 8, 5 and 18 months). Also, check out Top Pot Donuts - tasty! Pike place is so much fun. It's very crowded in the summer but still worth it. If you can, get Crumpets at the Crumpet Shop! The Original Starbucks is there. Beecher's Cheese shop is amazing. There's a terrific Parisian Bakery. I could go on and on... Have a blast!

Thanks for the great tips. We are definately going to see a number of your recomendations. Just arrived this morning. The weather is amazing. Had great views of Seattle from the Space Needle. A great start to our vacation. :cool1:
