July 8th 2013 Wonder Alaska Cruise!

Hi all! we just got off the June 3-10 Alaskan cruise and it was an AMAZING trip. You will have a great trip! I'm asking a favor. We collected the free coins at the 3 ports but didn't have time to grab 1 in Juneau. If anyone would be able and willing to do this, my 9 year old special needs son would be eternally grateful. It's at stop 4 on the map in the coupon book they give out at most of the shops, Juneau Trading Company the Moose coin. I will pay for shipping but it should fit in an envelope. Anyone able? I can PM my info. Thanks and have a great vacation!!!

Because we are coming to this cruise so late, just now trying to get everything taken care of. Got our air yesterday and ordered tee-shirts and magnets, using the images I've posted. Now looking for a hotel to stay at the night we leave the ship. Any ideas? Also looking for ideas for touring in Vancouver on the 15th. Still GTY but will let you know when we have a cabin number. Val & Bob

Love your pictures, can I use one as the logo for this cruise on my website?

Thanks so much. You are welcome to use any of them or anything you can find on our Flicker public file. If you need any help in changing the sizes, resolution or adding images or text, let me know. I can add our cruise dates or a family name. Actually, I can add or change any of the text, just let me know.

I ordered us tee-shirts of the ship and glacier and the green poster with the totem edge. We got them from VistaPrint for about $6 each. They should be here by June 27. If anyone wants to order some, I'll be happy to help you move the images to your VistaPrint account, just PM me.

To be fair, I want to say that the pictures aren't "mine". I created them from from other images or pictures we have taken. I'm not an artist. I can use photoshop pretty well, adjusting, adding and changing images but I start with someone elses work or a picture my husband takes.

Here is the info I found on how many other cruise ships will be in port when the Wonder is. I've detailed the times they will be in port and maximum number of cruisers that may be pouring into the small cities. I try to clear our my wallet before I travel, taking only the cards I need. I usually don't take my check book. I wished I had on my last cruise. DCL will cash a check but they don't have an ATM nor will they give you cash using a credit or debit card. There are ATMs off the ship, but in small ports (like Alaska) you may incur a fee plus the security risks involved in using an ATM.

Great information, THANKS. I like the fact that other than Skagway we will porting at completely different times than the other ships in port.

Cut and paste this into a document and printed it. It will definitely come in handy.

So excited, this is our first Disney cruise & I am so excited for our 3 year old. We know virtually nothing about the inside world you all belong to but we are excited to be joining.

It was so great to see that other people are so organized! Thanks for posting the navigators and the art work and the port information- it is so helpful. I've been doing the bare minimum. I knew what day to book port excursions and that kind of thing, but I just haven't been able to do the kind of planning I really like to do.

I finally bought a suitcase last weekend that is carry on size b/c we are flying on airlines that pay to check bags this time. For a family of 5 that is not cheap for 3 separate legs, so I started trying to pack for 14 days in a little 22" suitcase. It is not going well. We are going to Denali first and Seattle after. It's sending me into a bit of a panic.

We're a group of 9 - 4 grandparents. Me & dh, & 3 kids. We all cruised the Med together 3 summers ago, 11 days, and mil really wanted to see Alaska, so here we are again and I can't wait.

The kids realized that they will get to see the new Monsters Inc movie on the ship and are very excited about that - I'm like -guys - Alaska - glaciers....

We are booked for mostly Disney excursions because of traveling with the grandparents - they can't stand the stress of worrying about a private car breaking down and them missing the ship. There is one that we are doing the last day - one of those amphibious duck boats - and I booked it straight through the company because the Disney times didn't work. My dad is making noises like he wants to skip, but we'll see.

Are there any plans for this group to meet up?

Here's an idea - I read up a little on the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. They have a bus that picks up from certain hotels- 3 of them I think, Westin, Hyatt and one other - about every hour so, and that is our plan for either before or after the cruise. We saw it on an episode of Psych and my dd and I had to figure out where it was so we could go when we're there. It turns out it is not very far out of Vancouver and the shuttle service sounds really good. Tickets are 35 adults & 12 little kids. They have a website too - search capilano - I haven't read very much of it yet but it seems good.

Hi, we are going to be on this cruise as well. We have a 9 yr old daughter who would love to meet some kids around her age to hang out in the clubs with. She's fairly shy until she gets to know you, so I thought I would put it out here and maybe we can introduce our kids?
Thanks!!!

Welcome to all the new cruisers, I guess we aren't the only ones who decided at the last minute that this would be a great cruise to take. Thanks for the idea of visiting the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. I googled it and it looks beautiful. We decided to stay the night after the cruise at the Pan Pacific, across from the cruise ship terminal so perhaps a trip to Capilano would be possible.

We did the med three summers ago also, with the military discount. Which sailing did you do?

We are doing Disney excursions also, couldn't find any interest with others to share the cost.

We will be in the Promenade on day one for a while before going to the life boat drills. I don't know if others will be or not.

My daughter is 11 and is super excited about meeting new people. She is also shy until you get to know her. We are on main seating, maybe they will get to know each other.

dustermom02 and Julligan: Do you guys want to be added to the roll call list on the website?

Cindy

Hi Cindy,
Thanks for your reply. We have main dining as well. We are traveling as a group of 8 but our 9 year old is the youngest of the all of us. Please put us on the Roll call list on the website!
Travelling in my family are: Myself, Jill; Husband, Tom; Daughter Brittany (17); Daughter Ayden (9)
Thanks
Jill

Our ticket book came in the mail today - I guess most of you got yours weeks ago. Unfortunately, it still says we are GTY for the stateroom. Perhaps we be in a lifeboat. Hope there is some place to hang our FE from out there. I am just finishing up our FEs. Still need to get them packaged.

I think it was the 7th to the 18th of August? I know we were on board the 8th which was our 18 yr anniversary. It was when you could still stop in Tunisia. That was a really amazing trip. We got a fabulous last minute discount which was about 6 weeks before the cruise. They had inside cabins for a discount.

We are also main dining since we are used to eating early.

I just saw your roll call list you can add us- we are in 6543. The grandparents are in 2 rooms right across the hall. We have dd15, ds13, dd9. I know we are too late for FE's but I have one and I'm thinking I will do something small for my guys - just small stuff I can get on the ship- so please make sure you skip us when you are doing your thing.

sqektoy - please explain the coins. We'd try to try it out and find it - the kids always like collecting and I can't argue with bringing home something small.

Welcome, I'll add you to my FE list, I haven't finalized my count yet. Val & Bob

Working on our FEs and I have a few questions:

Twinddaddy, do you have a cabin number yet or are you sharing the life boat with us? Also, is Grandma Marcie in your cabin/lifeboat or a separate cabin number?

Friends of goingsouth, Karen & John, can you give me an idea of what age group son Brian is in?

Graviela, Cabin number yet or lifeboat too?

Dustermom02 - If you give me the names and ages of your crew I'll add them to my FE list (not the overall group list)
