Belated holiday wishes to all! :goodvibes

I just saw on the Baltic info thread something about our departure being possibly delayed now? The cruise before us is not disembarking until 10:30, an hour later than they expected. Anyone have info on that? Interested to see how that will affect us on departure day too.

Santa got me a Cruising in the Baltic guidebook. :cool1: Now I have to find the time to read it!

Holy Moley :scared1: I sure hope that disembarking time's not true for us, too! Based on DCL's website itinerary of an 8am arrival back in Dover, we're on a noon flight back home on debarkation day! I know it's not recommended to schedule anything that early, but we've done it in the past and never had any problems.

I saw that too but when you look online nothing has changed as far as disembark time. Also, only one person reported this change. I went and looked at their cruise meet thread for their cruise but it is not really too active. I'm not going to panick until I hear that others have reported receiving the same letter.

HI again! It's been a few months since I posted so I'm behind again! I'm going to try and keep up now.

For those doing transfers on your own, who are you using and can you give me an idea of about how much they cost? We are doing air & transfers through DCL right now, but I found airfare for about $2000 less doing it on our own. Plus I found a hotel room for MUCH cheaper than DCL offered us. But DCL was including transfers in all their costs and I can't find a break down of how much each would be.

We would need transfers from airport to hotel, hotel to port and port to airport. Do you think that would cost over $2000 for all 4 of us if we do it on our own? The train really isn't an option since we have my 5yr old with us and between dragging her & all our luggage, we'll never make it in one peice

Okay... I finally found my paperwork. It was buried in my office. It is costing us 442 pounds for Airport to hotel, hotel to Dover and then, Dover to airport. Hope that helps. I'm using www.woodfordchauffeurcars.co.uk/ I'm glad we are booked because we won't have to worry about all those transfers on the train/bus, etc... I know my 8 year old would struggle with her luggage. GL...

Casey - my boys will be just-turned-14 and not quite 13 when we go. My older one still thinks girls are yucky and the younger one is in the girls are the best friends stage. Of course who knows what six months will bring :) I love that we're sailing on the Magic because Ocean Quest is a perfect fit for my guys.

My daughter is like that too she think guys are just friends and no more than that and she is really shy so she kinda has a hard time making friends.

Hello everyone and Happy New Year.
We will be joining you on this cruise.
I am Barb and have two children DD(16) and DS(13).
We are very excited!
The last cruise we went on there was a kids/teen thread that the kids met on. It worked very well since most became friends on line before they met on the cruise. I was wondering if anyones children were interested in this?

We haven't put anything together for the kids/teens yet. I'll ask my kids if they are interested - my 12 y.o. (who will be nearly 13 when we go) will likely be more interested than my 13 y.o. (who will be 14 then).

My DD is 13 but she is very shy and she would like to meet other people before the cruise

I've tried to get my girls on the boards in the past. It just doesn't work.... If only it was as "cool" as texting.... My daughers still text with friends from trips we went on two years ago. I wonder if pre-trip texting would work?

Jeff

My guys don't text. We are so "un cool" as parents :)

Happy New Year everyone.....

soon we will be able to say we are going to the Baltic THIS YEAR!!!!

Well, we just switched hotel reservations.
:upsidedow Everytime I think I've got something set in stone, we go and switch it up. :upsidedow

We are now staying at the Marriott County Hall. DH liked it's location better than the Chancery. We plan to do as much sightseeing as possible, and it seemed that most of the major attractions were very close to the Marriott County Hall. I was able to get it for the exact same price as what I had reserved at the Chancery, but without breakfast included. Only time will tell if we've made the right decision. :confused3

Deb- the way I figure it, you'll be in London- so that's what matters!

Happy New Year everyone!

We are sailing THIS YEAR - love being able to say that!

Hello all,
5 of us will be on the cruise including son (19), son (17 <addicted.to.speed>), and daughter (9). Arriving Friday, July 2 in London. Staying in a rented house in Pimlico. Looking to take a day trip to Paris, maybe a trip to Wimbeldon, Emirates Stadium , absolute bar, and the typical London sites. Car or train to the port on Tuesday morning.

We were on the 2008 Mexican Riviera Cruise and the 2007 Med Cruise. Not DVC members although we did stop by the new resort site in Hawaii in March just to see what it was like.

Still waiting for excursions to come out, although we have a done some research into St. Petersburg. The Swedish Consulate is across the hall from my office so I plan on getting some ideas for Stockholm.

Let me be the first....:woohoo: to say WELCOME ABOARD....there are lots of posts and don't know if you have read them....
We were on the MED 070707 cruise...we own DVC Old Key West and can't wait until Ko'Olina is open. We also own Marriott at Ko'Olina so that will be way cool.
Our DD will be 20 on the cruise...too old for teens and too young for bars...
No excursions plans yet...but have lots of books for each port...can't wait to see them...

Ok I know Cindy beat me but....

WE ARE GOING TO THE BALTIC THIS YEAR!!!

Congrats on your first post! Cindy "nzdisneymom" already has your family listed on the first page of this thread under your son's "addicted.to.speed" DIS name. :) Glad to see you're posting, now, too! :woohoo:

DH and I have been waiting, rather impatiently, for the excursion list to come out, too! I'd love to hear what the Swedish Consulate recommends for Stockholm, so please post as soon as you talk with them! :)

Hey, We are staying at the Marriott County Hall as well. It really was a tough choice between County Hall and Chancery. Using Marriott points, so the amount was the same I think regardless...using the 4 nights get one night free points promotion. Went with County Hall for location as well!!! Like the idea of staying on the river and views of Big Ben!! We arrive June 30!!! Heading to Dover on the 5th!! Can't believe we will be in London in LESS than 6 months!!!!!:yay:

Wow - you'll be there a long time! Awesome! Sure do wish my DH had more vacation time so we could have arrived in Dover a day ahead, too. We're just grateful that we'll have a day and a half to tour London! :woohoo:

He is using all his vacation for this trip. We have a short weekend Napa trip with some friends in April (only 6 hours away), and he will have 4 floater days to use for his annual road trip with the kid. that is it for 2010 vacations. we wanted to add Paris but didn't want to split the week. we will do it after the TA in 2011...few days at DLP and a few days in Paris. Again...blow all the vacation in one trip. I think it is worth it to go abroad two years in a row. Gonna stay in the US for 2012, 2013, 2014, but going to South America and Antarctica (we'll actually set foot on land) in 2015 with some friends!!! that will be the mother of all trips I think...need to save heavy for that one!!!

I should add...no way in heck could we afford all this without the use of miles for the air and points for the hotel!!! :cool1:
