You have a nearly empty closet??!! I don't think I could ever say that.

joanne

DD moved out a couple of months back, so her room is currently empty. I have claimed the closet for myself since DH and my closet is stuffed to the gills. :rotfl:

Yikes.. packing light is hard. So far I got 28 lbs in one duffel. One suitcase with 47 lbs and the other at 41 lbs. I still need to put other dds stuff in a suitcase and pack the toiletries. I guess, I'll have to cut back on the toiletries. Tomorrow we'll pack the carryons.

We have to pack light as our plane only allows 11 pounds per person in one small carryon and 44 pounds per person in luggage. I HATE packing....hate, hate, hate it. I just can't decide, second guess myself and just feel utterly overwhelmed. The packing is the most stressful part of every vacation.

Tomorrow is packing day...don't look forward to it at all.

American allows 2 bags pp at 50 pounds if flight booked before I think Sept. plus one carry on pp as well as a personal item. We are lucky....or you would have to pay for each bag. We actually brought 2 empty bags with us too!. One small duffel inside a big suitcase and one rolling carry-on that we checked. For the 3 of us we checked 5 bags. We carried on only 1 bag!!!
We learned from Med cruise to pack some of each persons stuff in each bag. Have one more to unpack here. Don't want everything all wrinkled for the cruise. Will repack different for next leg of our journey.

I had room for the FE and didn't need to ship them here...oh now I know...could have saved $53.00 in shipping cost. :rolleyes1 They are not here yet but might be today. (I hope) We actually even brought 4 pounds of pistachios for our friends in the UK we are meeting up with on the 4th.

DD and I have wind breakers. He brought a sweatshirt too. I will buy a new one one the cruise! DD brought two sweatshirts. I suggested a windbreaker and got the "look"....She packed her own clothes....

Took a little nap yesterday and got up about 5 pm (so European of us!) went for a walk then made DD get up at 7pm. We went for another walk into the village but forgot it was Sunday and by the time we got there it it was 15 to 9 at night. The sun was still out and it looked like it was 4 in the afternoon!! Everything was closed so we walked back to Marriott's and ate in their bar/bistro and watched some world cup. Walked back to our villa and didn't go to bed till midnight.

DD woke us at 6am wanting to go the parks! :eek:They open at 10am and close at 7pm today... almost every day too. DD & DH then left hunts for croissants from the village bakery....so I guess it's to the parks today! 9 hours difference in times from CA to here.

We still have a heat wave over in the UK, but the weather is set to change with rain coming through for a couple of days. It may not affect London, but anyone who's heading there at the end of this week, have your rain coats handy for when you get off the plane, you may need them.

Wouldn't you just know it. A week before I go away I now have to find a plumber. The overflow pipe to our cistern has broken off on the outside of our house. Now if it overflows the water will run straight down the wall, not good. Luckily my dad is a plumber, but it's if he can get here and fix it before we go. The last time we had a five minute plumbing job to do, it turned in to five hours. Oh the joys of owing a home.

So my morning is just getting worse. I have solved my minor crisis, dad came and fixed the overflow pipe, 20 mins is all it took, thankfully. Now I have a major crisis which I can't do anything about. Shaun's dad has been rushed into hospital with breathing difficulties. We was diagnosed last year with lung cancer, they operated but found they couldn't remove the tumour safely, so he underwent chemo. He recovered fine and has been getting better all the time. He's had his up days and his down days, but the up ones have been out weighing the down. This is a major setback. I'm hoping it's nothing serious, perhaps a reaction to the heatwave, who can say. I've got everything crossed.

Thank you. I haven't heard anything other than they are waiting for the results of some blood tests. I'm going on the theory that no news is good news. I really should be packing, but I just can't get myself going.

Shaun and Jill - we are sending prayers for Shaun's father. How stressful for all of you. Glad the plumbing was minor.

Denise, how exciting to be in Paris. Thx for checking in with us.

Gotta work today then work on packing tonight. Wish we had a room to do it in. As it stands, we will be walking around suitcases for a few days. One thing I love about cruising is you unpack once but get to see so many places.

Jill~~

I am hoping Shaun's dad will be alright. At least your plumbing problem was solved quickly. I think you both need this vacation!

Denise--I'm very jealous. Your trip seems wonderful so far. I appreciate the updates. Let us know how you like the parks!

Oh- guess what!!

We leave tomorrow.

...if I ever finish packing...;)

Yes it comes in handy having a plumber for a dad, well sometimes anyway.;) I'm hoping that things are going well at the hospital, we both need this holiday.
Have a safe trip over, don't forget the waterproof jacket, you may need it. Wimbledon still has a week to run and it's a tradtion that it rains when it's on. They've had one good week of weather, so can't guarantee a second.

Now it won't be long for your Baltic cruise

and

I want to tell you that HAVE A FABULOUS TIMES

I look forward to hear about your trip report or any blog (Cindy I have your one and I looking forward to read it)....
