July 5th Dream

Oh Princess Bette, I am so glad you and your family are ok, but so sad that others around you are not. Experiencing a tornado is frightening beyond belief, I am so sorry you all had to go through that, and that so many lives were lost.

While we live about 12 hours or so north of you, so there isn't really anything I can do, but if you do need a place to stay to get away from it all, I do have room in the cold and windy north!

Of course, our weatherman said that the strong jet stream will be moving north in May/June, so looks like us northerners will be dealing with more severe storms. Plan your get-away before then!

All joking aside, my prayers are with you and your family. Take care of yourselves. :grouphug:

Thank you so much for the kind thoughts and the offer to get away. It's funny though...some people I know who were not directly affected by the damage just packed up and went to the beach! While I am not judging anyone for what they feel is best for the their family, I cannot in good conscience go on a spur of the moment vacation in the middle of this disaster. There are so many that need our help. My husband and I were running some errands today and saw first hand several areas that suffered major damage. Homes wiped off their foundation, cars mangled in fields, power poles and trees snapped like tooth picks. It just broke our hearts to see people literally on the ground looking for anything that may be left of their possessions. Tomorrow, my DS7 and I are going to donate clothing and other items to the local EMA. Power remains out for a lot of people. Ours is on now and today we gained phone service...internet is still out. Two blocks away they are still without power. Schools remain closed. Curfews are in place from dusk to dawn. Today, we took our motorhome to a family to stay in so that they will have power and water and can cook meals. This has been very humbling for me. Oh, I almost forget to tell you...my DH was out of town in Ohio for work when the storms hit and did not return until late the following night. So it was just me and my DS7 until then! After the storms cleared out, I "moved" us to the motorhome since it has a generator. My DH was proud I was able to set it up by myself. Not only that, but I ran an extention cord from our home refrigerator and plugged it in to an outside outlet in the motorhome and was able to save our food! I tried to make it fun for DS so he wouldn't worry too much about what had just happened. We pretended we were camping! Anyway...we are safe and very thankful to be spared this time.
Luvavaction...congrats on the timing of your mom's surgery! Wonderful news. Welcome to those who have just joined our group! And congrats to all who were able to book the excursions you wanted!! :woohoo:
I will give another update later...I am using someone else's internet to access here tonight! I have missed having internet!!!! Withdrawel has been tough!! Take care everyone.

:goodvibesCouldn't help it, too excited, I had to pop in again tonight to read what is new.

Lgcountry, I would be happy to meet up with you, or anyone! Getting the party started early would be great!

Our plans -

July 2 -5 Animal Kingdom Villas, Kidani. I have no clue what we are doing on which day, other than visiting our dog each day since she is going to be boarded at the Disney kennel. We are bringing her with us and staying on the beach in Cape San Blas, FL for a few days before we make it to Disney. Certainly if anyone wants to come with us to visit our dog, we won't mind! :thumbsup2 She is a beautiful, sweet, adorable plush-coated German Shepherd, and she loves attention!

Actually, California Grill to see the fireworks does sound great. I wonder if there are still any openings? Will have to check that out.

I was thinking of maybe just going to the Polynesian and watching from the beach, though it really is up to the girls and what they feel like doing, I suppose.

On the 4th, the girls would like to see the fireworks at Epcot. Me eldest, the one that is interning at The Land right now, was thinking she wanted to finish her stay with Disney at Epcot on the last night. I really thought she would be tired of Disney by now, but no, she loves it even more than before. That's my girl! :lovestruc

What's sad, though, is that we probably won't be back to Disney for many years, probably not until I have grandchildren. When we do go back, it will be different, not the 4 of us anymore, perhaps one will be doing something else and doesn't wish to come, or there may be a boyfriend or husband, something like that. I miss the days when they were little and everything was new.

Um, I must admit that this evening, DH, DD, my mom and I were all watching our video from the first time we went to Disney in 2000, and I am all melancholy. In case you all haven't figured it out, Hungarians are way emotional, hence the tears that I get when we hear the horn at sailaway. Not to mention the tears when we get off the boat, and you see the last DCL sign wishing for you to come again! That is one tough walk! I've never had tears getting off a Carnival ship, but leaving that Disney port is no day in the park for me!

Wow, I "talk" alot. Be warned, I talk more in real life.:scared1: Oh this is going to be fun! :lmao:

Ok, somehow we'll figure out a pre-meet! The pool bar at Kidani has one of my very favorite bartenders, so it's very possible for us to head over there for a drink. Her name is Cynthia, and we had a lot of fun with her. We even went out one night with another 2 couples and her, all who met at the bar.

Let me know if you are able to get Cali Grill! If not maybe I can change our reservation to include more people. Our reservation is at 9:20pm.

We will work it out closer to time. Anyone else????

Hi All -
Just a quick update - I live right in the middle of the North AL - as you may have seen on the news, our state was hit hard by many tornados on Wed. Over 200 dead in our state alone. Power and phones have been out in our area since Wed. We have sporadic cell phone service. Gas is limited. My family is safe but please pray for everyone. It is very bad. Utter destruction everywhere. Thank you.

Glad to hear you and your family are ok. I have been praying for the others. What devastation!

Dylan and I would love to meet if possible before the cruise! We will be arriving on July 1st and staying at the Polynesian! For the first time I have actually scheduled dinner reservations (most at late lunch!) and planned which parks we will be in on each day. I know that that is a busy time and our usual "free-spirited" ways won't cut it!:rotfl:

On the first we dine at the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at the Polynesian, Saturday we will be in EPCOT and have a 3 reseveration at Via Napoli. Sunday it is Disney Hollywood Studios, Mama Melrose and Fantasmic! The 4th I left free and figured we would brave our favorite park in the morning and then do Blizzard Beach in the afternoon. Fireworks will be watched on the beach at the Polynesion, sipping an appertif from the Conceriage lounge, then to bed and the next day on to the cruise. At some point we have to fit in Animal Kingdom maybe either the evening of the 2nd or the morning on the 3rd. That is our least favorite park and there are only a few "must do" activities. Of course I may regret having everything scheduled but will welcome the relaxation of the cruise!

Not too long now!

I've been trying to find out the same thing, but haven't come up with any information on the chance of seeing fireworks. Please post if you do find out anything.... we'll be in the port area on the fourth also. Thanks!

We are staying at the port as well and I sent a message to Shirley (the gift basket lady) asking her - she suggested contacting the hotel manager where we were staying. I did that - we are staying at CI & S - but was only told that there would be a lot of activities, etc. - nothing def. about the fireworks. If someone is staying somewhere else, maybe you can contact your hotel manager and see if you get any results. If you do, please share with the rest of us!!!

Those of you staying at the port might be surprised what displays you see. We were on the Magic in Key West one forth of July and after the Magic's fireworks we went out on our balcony (we had left port by this time) and we saw at least 5 different displays on the Florida coastline! It was magnificent!

Back when I was planning what to do before our cruise, I did do some research as to what was available near the port for 4th of July, and found a website for Cocoa Beach that had lots of information with things to do on 4th of July.

Here is the website address - http://www.cityofcocoabeach.com/FlashHomePages/visitors_home.html

From this page, go to Visitors, then on the left go to Attractions, then in the middle scroll down to Brevard Cultural Activities, then click Calendar in the purple heading.

I hope this helps!

Yes, that did help... It says that there will be fireworks at "Cocoa Village" in the City of Cocoa Beach at 9:15 pm on the 4th of July.....Hurray! And thanks for the info! Now my question is would they be visible and viewable from Country Inn & Suites, where we'll be staying ?

Do any of you do vinylmation trading? I hear that they DO have trading in one of the stores onboard during the cruise. Just curious if they have any other trading sessions, like the pin trading onboard? We keep hearing about the vinylmation and might be interested in getting a few!

I do know that some folks got some plain white vinylmations (and sharpies) and dropped them off with guest services to have the characters sign them. That certainly makes VERY unique ones. :thumbsup2

Ooh! That's a great idea... I think I'll head over to ebay right now! :) Thanks!

did anyone else get an EMAIL of your RESERVATION today? I always get nervous when they show up in my INBOX out of the blue. Everything looks the same, same cabins and all. Just curious as to why we got it.

HAVE A FANTASTIC FRIDAY!:goodvibes

Anyone else so excited that they're ready to book their next Disney cruise? Me! Pick me! I'm ready! Looking at good dates with decent prices for 2012 so we can book onboard! Yeah!!! That should help with the post cruise blues! :)
Happy weekend and Mothers' Day!

I know the feeling -- my only decision will be whether to go on the Fantasy or the Magic. My son wants to go on the Magic for "one last time" but may change his mind after our Dream cruise. I have already started saving! Of couse I have noticed that the roof is leaking --- is a new roof in my future instead of the cruise?????:confused3 I hope I can just get it repaired:thumbsup2

Anyone staying in Florida or going to WDW before or after this cruise? If you find any good deals on rental cars, especially including pick up or drop off at one of the cape canaveral locations, please pass it along! Prices are pretty high for July.

Check out mousesavers.com they have codes for many different companies. Also if you have an entertainement book you can find great deals.

Because I will be busy all day doing nothing but working in my yard (yes, I enjoy doing undisturbed work in my garden on Mother's Day!), I wanted to wish all the ladies a wonderful day! Plus, I want to show off what my DH made for me! He knows me so well!
