I have a few question in reguard to July 4th at WDW.
I have a good friend going and we would like to know:

What resort on the Monorail is the Best for 4th Fireworks?
How crowded do the resorts get for the fireworks?
What are the parks like?
What would be our best strategy for having a successful time?

Thanks, Wendi

we were there july 4, 2002. and i can tell you this--MK was crowded. we had an 8:10 PS for cindy's and by the time we finished the park was getting very very busy. all the parks were busy the day; we park-hopped in search of the july 4th limited edition pins. got them and then left. but busy is the key word. it is my understanding that if you are not staying at one of the monorail resorts, you may not be allowed to watch the fireworks from the beach. my suggestion would be to book on the restaurants that overlooks MK for fireworks. of course, that will be a prime time/restaurant. i would decide which park you would like to see the fireworks and book dinner there and then "stake your claim" for a place to view them. we chose epcot and had dinner at lecellier. we saw parties turned away as the restaurant was booked. good luck!:p

What are the best rates anyone has gotten for 4th of July week
at a Deluxe?

Thanks, Wendi

We went July 4th in 2000. We stayed at the Yacht Club which is nice because we could walk to Epcot and boat to MGM and thus avoid the crowded parking lots, trams and monorail. Magic Kingdom was the only park that was excessively crowded. We only heard that from other guests, we didn't even try to make it over there. We heard they were full to capacity on the 4th. No way would I attempt to deal with that. Epcot, MGM and AK weren't that bad.
We might end up going during July 4 again this year.

I would say for Fireworks viewing either the Poly or Grand Floridian.

OOPS. I didn't answer the best rate at a deluxe during the 4th question. We got Yacht Club for $189.00 - water view. NOT BAD!

We've been to wdw on three separate 4th's of July - each time we watched the fireworks from Main St in MK - imho, it is NOT excessively crowded - it's just crowded. I also feel that the crowd is part of the fun - the fireworks at times ring the park with you in the center and the excitement of the crowd adds to the experience. Note that the resort rates drop on the 5th of July.

I'm so glad you posted this. I plan to go against all the advise I've read and spend the 4th in MK.

I want to have breakfast at Cindy's or Crystal Palace, dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern, see both parades and watch the fireworks on Main Street.

I think the crowds will add to the fun and excitement.

Good choice! My fiance and I spent last 4th of July in MK. It was crowded but lots of fun:) We also believe that crowds add the excitement we're looking for. We like to visit WDW during peak seasons;) Next trip is Christmas!!!

...I can't imagine being anywhere else when I turn 50!!!! My birthday is a couple of days after the 4th and when I was a little kid,my family would celebrate my birthday on that holiday because the whole family was usually together. I always thought all those fireworks were for me!! Remember,I was little...
Anyway,I will definitely be there July 4,2004!!!!

It has become a tradition for us to visit the MK on the 4th. It is crowded, there is no doubt about that, but it is managable. Just get their early and utilize Fastpass. Make sure that as soon as you can get another Fastpass, get it, so your time till you get the next one can start ticking down.

We also like to eat lunch at Crystal Palace and Dinner at Tonys. This enables us to get into air conditioned space and relax for an hour or so.

One thing to watch out for, if you want to see the fireworks from Main Street or the bridges to tomorrowland or Fantasyland, then you need to get there early. Not that they will fill up 2 hours prior, but they close those areas off, and only allow people in there to stay.
