July 4th week trip was great!!

I hate seeing all of the posts of people with bad experiences with Disney lately, specifically the WDW resort. What worries me about all of this is the guy who came up with the MB and FP+ idea is in line to take over for Iger when he steps down. His name is Thomas Staggs and I just don't feel he has his finger on the pulse of true Disney fans.

With that said we just returned from the WDW resort last weekend and we had a great experience this trip. From our stay at the Poly, even with the construction going on, to our FP+ and Magicbands, our ADR's and interaction with CM's. I went to WDW in January and used the FP+ system and absolutely hated it and was very vocal on here about that experience. Our second time around though I have really learned how to use the MDE app and how to manipulate the times for our FP+ to work in our favor and how we tour the parks. We didn't wait in line long for many attractions at all. I think the longest we waited in a standby que was 40 minutes.Even with our middle child getting sick for our last day and deciding to leave a day early it was ok. Disney even refunded us our last night at the Poly and the refund was back on my card within 5 days. I wasn't even expecting a refund. That was a complete surprise.

I do want to try WWOHP and DA because I am a huge HP fan as is my son. We have never been to US and want to give it a try, but my heart will always be with Disney even if they don't have the biggest fastest thrill rides around. However, with them owning the Star Wars and Marvel properties now I could see them doing a lot with that at HWS in the future if they could get off the purse strings a little. Unfortunately the costs of the MDE/MB system had a big impact on their bottom line. So I won't hold my breath but a lot could be done with just those two universes.

We were also in Disney 4th of July week, and we also stayed at Poly! We too had an awesome trip. It was our 2nd trip using MB's and we loved it the first time and loved it even more the 2nd time. We only waited in any standby lines that had little to no wait, and we had no problems getting a 4th FP+ and 5th FP+. We were able to walk on every single FP+ ride, even Mine Train 4x. Without the FP+ system, this would not have happened for us.

A tip we learned here on the DIS for our 2nd MB trip was after scanning the MB for a ride, I immediately went to MDE and moved up the FP time for the next ride. This way, we could go from ride to ride without the wait time in between.

I can remember pre-FP+ going to MK and all of the popular FP's were sold out for the day, the standby lines were too long, so we ended up leaving the park and going back to our resort. Now, with the new system, we just returned from trips during both Easter and 4th of July and went on more rides than we ever have, and the best part is they were all the popular rides that we always had a hard time getting regular FP's for in the past.
