July 4th fireworks at MK?

I was lucky enough to get through the other day and book a fireworks cruise for July 3rd. ( it is the 4th fireworks done both nights) The cruise leaves out of the Contemporary. We are staying at the Dolphin. (dance competition).

They said the time of the cruise is "subject to change". I've been poking around trying to find out what time, historically, they do the fireworks shows for a major holiday. Can't seem to find that info.

Also, I'm wondering if we should book a "dinner" before the show, I am somewhat concerned about the travel time from the Dolphin over to the Contemporary. I can't do Chef Mickey's. not a fan. The menu at the Wave might be a bit sophisticated for 13 year old girls. Any other suggestions? Can I get a van to drive us over? like a "taxi" van?

Should we use the special dining and just east on the cruise boat? What is that food like? So many questions, hoping someone has some experiences to share.

Hi, I can't answer the question about the fireworks time.
I would not book dinner. I would plan to eat at the quick serve place at the Contemporary - the Contempo Cafe.

If you did decide you want to book dinner and you find you'll have plenty of time to eat because the fireworks will be late I would get an ADR at the Grand Floridian Cafe. That menu is pretty family friendly and not that sophisticated - although a burger topped with lobster can be pretty fancy

You can get a large taxi van. Not sure of the size of your party but they do have the larger vans. We have had to use them. They will call one for you at the Dolphin. Or you can take the bus from the Dolphin to MK and walk to the Contemporary.

I have ordered cakes to have on the boat during the fireworks but not a meal.
Fireworks cruises are so fun. a great way to enjoy the fireworks from a new view - with no crowds!

I thought they were scheduled for 9 PM both days in 2015. Rain delayed them both nights though. Hope you have clear weather!

thank you both for your responses. I love the idea of the Contempo Café. I think that is what I will do. I don't think they take reservations, but at least we will be where we need to be for the cruise.

And please no RAIN during fireworks or before to postpone them!
