Hi! We just booked ressies at the Boardwalk for the weekend of July 1st through July 4th. Does anyone know if any of the parks do anything special for Fourth of July?

Just curious.

Thanks-

Kathy

There are special fireworks at most of the parks. They tend to get crowded early, so get there early.

I was there this past July 4th, and I actually recommend you watch the fireworks from a resort instead of the parks. I have been the WDW several times and have never seen the mK so crowded, the wait times were ridiculous! (Not to mention it was really hot and humid!) If you want to go to the parks, I would take kilee's advice and go in as early as possible, and then maybe leave late afternoon/early evening... have a great time!!!

The resorts have special activities, for example we were at Old Key West and they had poolside fun and games. The parks will be VERY crowded and at night they have the most AMAZING fireworks. We had dinner at the Polyneisian that night (avoided the parks on purpose per a CM) and the fireworks from the MK were jaw-dropping. They shoot them off from all around the lake and you just didn't know where to look next. It was lovely. We went to the MK early the morning of the 5th, and it was pleasantly empty. Everyone else was recovering from the 4th!

I would see fireworks at any park BUT the MK. MGM does fireworks for July 4th, their fireworks show is rarely done and well worth seeing - and if you're at the Boardwalk, you can walk back to your resort.

Make a priority seating for Narcoossee's at the GF and watch the MK fireworks from the veranda of the restaurant. You can only watch from the veranda if you're a guest at the restaurant. The MK fireworks are spectacular - they're double sized and amazing. The food is delicious at Narcoossee's, as well.

We were at WDW this past 4th of July and opted to see the fireworks in Epcot. They were spectacular!!!!!!!!

I was at WDW over the 4th of July last year and we opted to spend the 4th at MGM. Everyone who walked through the gates got a free American flag pin (a plastic pin, not like the "trading pins" and I thought the fireworks there were great. I heard that the Magic Kingdom is the most crowded park that day and also could potentially close due to reaching capacity.

I recommend the Epcot fireworks for 4th of July. They were awesome!!! Also loved the pictues projected on Spaceship Earth.

We were at the "world" for July 4th of 1999 and it was great. We hung out at EC and it was truely patriotic and did not feel overwhelmed with crowds. I beleive most people go to the MK and there is a chance that it might close due to capiticy.

Thanks for all of your replies! We will most likely stay FAR away from MK on the 4th. Maybe we will spend the morning at MGM and head over to Epcot for the fireworks, although Narcoossee's sounds like a good plan too. If we do decide on that what time would you suggest we make ressies for?

Kathy

Am I the only person who would say go to the MK on the 4th for fireworks. It was definatly worth dealing with all the crowds all day. Do the little rides, but forget about places like the HM. We were actually able to leave the park and come back in the afternoon with not much problem. I think they were not allowing people in if they didnt stay on site, which we did. We went to in front of the castle (in front of the hub) about an hour and a half before the fireworks. We got a great spot. We would do it again for sure.

Take a look at my photo album from the day: it shows the crowds, line ups, and the spectacular fireworks. It can be found here: http://mickeyslittlehelper.smugmug.com/gallery/183091/1

With all due respect to TDC Nala, we went to MGM last July 4th on the advice of a bus driver as we had already seen the MK fireworks the year before. All I can say is don't waste your time! The show is short (~6 min. if I remember correctly) and does not compare to MK or Epcot in the slightest. It was the one time in a year that MGM held fireworks and we thought it might be extra special. Never again!

The fireworks are usually at 9:00 on the 4th, so we usually had PS at 7:30. I may be incorrect, but I seem to remember hearing that even if you had a 5:00 PS, you could return for the fireworks as someone is posted at the entrance with a listing of all PS for the evening. We've always been at our table at 7:30, enjoyed a leisurely dinner, then got an after dinner drink to take outside with us for the fireworks. People usually start going out at 8:45 so it's not even like you have to stake out a place long in advance.

Thanks Julianne! This is definitely something to think about. Not to mention, someplace different to eat dinner one night. I feel like we are always eating at the same places.
