July 4th anyone???

Is anyone going to be at WDW for the 4th? This will be our first time visiting during that time....even though we go every summer it is usually late July or August. I know it will be crazy, but it is our son's 18th birthday so we thought it would be fun to see "his" fireworks!

We will be there on the 4th too! Our first time as well. We are going down 6/21 (DS b-day is 6/22) and we will be there until 7/5. What are your plans for the 4th? We are staying at AKV but for some reason SSR seems like the perfect spot for the 4th, AKV doesn't seem very 4th of Julyish. We aren't planning on doing any parks that day, we have dinner ressie's at Turf Club and I figure we might rent the bikes at SSR and just hang out around there and in DTD.

Does anyone who has been there for the 4th have any suggestions?

We'll be at OKW--arriving, I think, 7/2 and leaving 7/6, again. I think.

OKW has GREAT festivities for July 4th. There is a pargo parade led by Goofy--pargos are ger golf cart like vehicles used by maintenance. housekeeping, etc. There are dance contests, hula hoop contests, limbo contests, etc.

If you're going to be around for a few days, either before or after July 4, let's see if we can't arrange a DVC meet.

Let me know what you--and anyone else--thinks.

We also will be at OKW for July 4th , thanks so much for letting us know they do stuff at the resort . I was wondering if anyone knows if they do anything for July 1st in any of the parks , we are Canadian. Hope to see u all at the festivities at OKW

WOW...that sounds great! We might have to head over to OKW on the 4th then, I had planned to go sometime just to check it out. I would be up for a meet as well. Did a DIS meet on the Magic and it was a lot of fun!

We'll be at SSR for the 4th! Counting down the days! I've heard you have a great view of the fireworks from SSR and they have special activities...can anyone confirm or elaborate? Have early reservations at Tony's but a little nervous about braving the parks that day.

My sister and BIL are going to ASSP 6/29-7/5!!

There are videos of 4th of July fireworks on youtube.

From my perspective, the studios fireworks used contemporary music and seemed very similar to Fireworks displays I see around home. The Epcot fireworks were very moving and special, and had lots of fire power as well. The Magic Kingdom fireworks were very, very moving and patriotic. The finale started very subdued and actually made me cry. I assure you, I do not cry over videos on a 5" screen.

Sis and BIL with kiddos 7 & 10 hope to also catch some Star Wars weekend on June 29th.

We will be at AKV from 7-2 to 7-11. We were planning on spending the day at the pool on the 4th and going into Epcot for FW. It would be fun to hit OKW as I hear they have the best activities during the day.

We'll be at AKV over the 4th. Plans right now include dinner at 'Ohana that night and watching the fireworks from the beach at the Poly.

I went last year for the 4th of July.... The fireworks at Epcot was amazing... I believe the extended it for the 4th.

I woke up on the 5th... had my clothes from the night before in whirpool tub of a 1br... I could smell the firework powder from the bed. Had to do the laundry

Wow, this is so good to know! This year we're going for NYE, and I've decided that for '09, DH and my special trip will be for the 4th of July!

We will be at WLV from July 2-6 and BCV from July 6-11!

Here is how our itinerary looks right now: (I am a planner by nature, but this was a last-minute idea). Arrive July 3rd SSR, then to VWL July 4th-6th, then back to SSR July 7th. I am DESPERATELY hoping our waitlists for the 3rd and the 7th come through at the VWL! We usually stay at the BCV or the BWV, even though VWL is our home resort.

I am hoping they will be announcing another special members only summer gathering...they usually do!

We'll also be there from June 29 - July 9, at SSR. Our first trip home. Can't wait! We hope to watch fireworks right from SSR.

Our family will be there too....This time we will be staying @ BWV....6/29-7/10....then we will drive down to my Dad's house in Lehigh Acre's (near Ft. Myer's)....

Looking forward to a long relaxing vacation.

We will be there 7/1 to 7/8 AKV. We stayed in SSR last 7/4 and there was not that much going on. I agree with not going to the parks that day.

We'll be at SSR from 7/1-7/8. Going to the night race at Daytona and to the Space Center also. Due to schedules we always do our big trip in July.

Another family here going from July 1-July 8th! We are staying at the BCV's from the 1st-5th and then switching to AKV concierge the 5th-8th. A DIS meet sounds fun! We are eating dinner at Narcoosee's on the 4th to watch the fireworks from there.

yes, but at the Swan. Eating at Bluezoo, hitting the Adventurers Club. If I go to a park it'll probably be the Studios.

If they're still doing the DTD fireworks those are awesome. SSR people take note.

We tried to get a ressie at Kona Cafe for dinner, but the earliest they had was 8:20. We decided to try The Wave and then we are heading the Poly to see the fw from the beach~looks like a few of us are planning on that!!!
