We have been to OKW mid to late July. What can we expect in the way of crowds on and around July 4?

We did not think that the days before and after were really that bad. July 4th is absolutely crazy, though! If you want to be in a park, get there early and plan on staying, as I know MK reached capacity fairly early this past year and it was packed when we went early to grab one of the July 4th pins.

As pin collectors, we split up and got each of the park's special pins, then very deliberately spent the day outside of the parks. You will have the chance from many spots outside to watch fireworks (we watched the MK's incredibly ones from a distance) without being in the middle of the mayhem.

We go every July 4th. We love it. As far as July 4th, we stay at OKW because they have plenty of games and stuff for the kids to do and everyone comes out for the parade by community hall. You have to get there early though becuase you wont get a seat by the pool. We went to the MK i beleve it was 2 years ago on the 4th, and it was crazy. We will never do that again. The days before though were fine, they were your tipical waits and crowds for June. I hope you have fun down there, this year at OKW will be the best one yet

July 4th WDW is usually jammed. Lot's of fun if you mentally prepare yourself for some long waits at the parks. OKW will also probably be very full, busy and fun.

Make sure you start your day early and be ready for a longer evening so you don't miss the great fireworks shows.

I think a lot of people will check out around the 5th, which is a Monday. By Tuesday the 6th, you should have much more breathing room and shorter lines. ::yes::

Two years ago we faced the July 4th crowds in an attempt to buy the special pins at each park. Beach Club Villas has just opened, and we were among the first to stay there. Unfortunately, the BCV staff didn't bother alerting us that the parks were opening an hour early that day, so instead of being near the front of the line to get into Disney Studios, we ended up standing in a 45 minute long line to buy our July 4th pins. We spent the rest of the morning going from park to park in search of pins.

We'll be back at BCV this July 4th and I have promised my family that we won't repeat that mistake. The crowds at that time of year are among the largest that I've experienced at WDW.
