I am umming and ahhing... No weight restrictions on the way but a flight home. The group looks like a more manageable size, last summer there were around 30 famillies some with multiple cabins i think and it was a lot to carry on the way out and a lot to bring back.

I will hurry up and decide. When are we calling the cut off date for FE sign ups? Just so i know a) when i have to decide by and b) how long we will have to get the items sorted once the group is finalised.

...and the cut off date works fine for me! we have busy couple of weeks leading up to the cruise, so the sooner i know what/who I am up to the better!:scared1:

ahhh.....3rd post in as many minutes.....
on the .almost, topic of weight restrictions, we have purchased some rediculously light suitcases ( fronm Argos :)). I am the very proud owner of an expensive set of Cow Print hard cases...which i love, but the middle sized one is 6kg! Empty!..so off to Argos we go. These things are stupidly light...2kg...so, we might not have to wear 4 layers of clothing on the flight home:laughing:

Good Morning/Afternoon for those on the other side of the Atlantic.

Happy to report that my oldest did a walking tour of our home town Monday night with our Brownie group, looking at old churches, buildings and local art work and loved it. :love:I was most concerned that it would be a battle to get her out of the kids clubs and into the ports on this cruise, but she is now excited about getting off. I was telling her about some of the wonderful churches and castles that I have visited on previous trips to Europe, now she wants her own camera to take lots of pictures.

Starting to panic about luggage, especially keeping the shoe count down, really would like to only pack 2 pairs of shoes per person, but I doubt that is going to happen, especially with the shoe Diva younger daughter.

We are having a heat wave this weekend, highs are supposed to be in the mid to high 20's which is very unseasonal for this time of year, but looking foward to getting outside, and it is a long weekend too.:dance3:

Hope those of you celebrating Easter this weekend have a great time. DH has now got 2 weeks off work so he will be spending quality time with the children while I work this coming week to finish preparations for the scrapbooking retreat we run twice a year at a local hotel and conference centre.

Made our final payment today and am finally digging into the ports and excursion opportunities. I am wondering what everyone is thinking about the ports and what activities you will do ...

My first pass:
Cherbourg - want to go to the DDay beaches and museum. Will probably do either DCL or local tour.
Vigo - the Cellar excusion
Lisbon - explore the city on our own
Cadiz - Seville on your own Excursion
Gibralter - explore the city on our own
Barcelona - explore the city on our own

Do any of the cities have beaches that are easy to get to from the ship? It looked like Cadiz has some ...

I am especially interested in hearing from someone who has been to any of these locations! Is it easy to get around on your own?

Its been cold here all week - even had a bit of snow ...which is fairly unusual for England for this time of year (though not so unlikely for you hardy Scots - is it Scottishwee !?).

With the Barcelona cruise booked I am currently working on my next holiday for October...we were thinking about Morrocco (Agadir) but have since decided against, it as I have been told that the local shop keepers there are quite intimidating, the place is still struggling to redevelop following an earthquake years ago, and that it is not paricularly pleasant to be hassled on the beach non stop by hawkers.

Now we are looking at the South Of France instead..we had a fabulous time in Croatia (Dubrovnik) last year and that will be a hard act to follow...thoughly recommend Dubrovnik if you ever get the chance to go (just like a mini Venice, but without the canals). :goodvibes

We are also trying to organise a weekend in Manchester (though its only an hour from where we live !). I have got tickets for my DH to watch an international cricket match (while I go shopping !) and the following day there is a big charity soccer match (Soccer Aid) where 'has been' international footballers will play celebrities such a Gordon Ramsey and Robbie Williams at Old Trafford !....should be fun !!!

Happy planning for the cruise, everyone :yay:

....I don't think we will be doing any excursions much as this has very much been a little added extra to our holiday plans following our cruise on the Magic in February (the one that was a day late leaving Port Canaveral:headache:)

Hi

yes, we had the snowing last Tuesday for 2 days then disappearing and very cold here brrzzzzz...

I was off work last Thursday with run down bad headache:headache: and upset tummy...

I went back to work yesterday as it was very busy as I still not right... today seem a bit better...

Oh your weekend at Manchester I wish I be there as Olivia would love to see big soccer! I would love to see Robbie Williams...

I am not keen on Morrocco because of snakes show yukkkkk... I am really phobia of it...no way... but my friend said it is lovely place but foods was okay... for me no :sad2:

I have not start search for excursions yet... I will look at it later as I just want to be on Disney Cruise:love:

We are still planning a mistly DIY approach to excursions but as we get closer i will do a little more in depth planning.

For us 8 nights on the Magic is the main point of the trip and a few ports we like the look of are an added bonus. I have to say the itinerary has really grown on me though. Initially I had completely discounted it as not having enough ports I really wanted to go to but as the dates were the best for us I did a little more digging and found quite a lot I want to do.

Did any one get to book excursions at the 120 mark which has passed.:thumbsup2

Looking at a couple of DCL excursions as I have the OBC, thinking of Tatihou Island in Cherbourg, and Border Country in Vigo.

Cadiz will be DIY for sure, someone a couple of months ago posted a walking tour to the fort that passes the beach, and Lisbon I need to research.

Gibraltar I know is going to be an issue. The thing my oldest dd wants to see the most is the Barbary Apes and I know my youngest will be terrified of them so I need to figure out the best option (leave her on the ship:confused3 would be the best but I doubt she will go for that.)

When you go online to book could you et us know out of interest what Palo availability is like? I know we will probably be able to get a reservation onboard if not online but I am interested to see at what stages things start to get low on availability i.e. how many slots are taken by 120 day bookers, how many are left once the 105 day bookers have had their chance etc...

PS NOT jealous at all about the WDW trip in 10 days - who am I kidding of course I am!

I Kind of agree, but I am sure you will have fun, and hopefully the weather will be warmer than home. Have fun.

I wish I had kids that were easy to tour Disney World with, but they always want to do something different. On the cruise it is much easier to agree on what to do.

Okay I booked my Palo reservations Dinner night 4 & Brunch for the 2nd sea day!:thumbsup2

Everything is wide open!:surfweb:
