July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

Just to add that we do this too after picking this top tip up before our first cruise.
I'll buy a cheap trailing lead from Wilkinsons with 3 or 4 plug outlets in it, and I'll leave it on the ship to save room in my luggage on the way home.:)

No need for towels.

For the tips it works out to $36 per day per person http://cruisetip.tpkeller.com/

I want to say the CD is $399 but not 100%, but it is in that range. I usually end up buying about 10 pictures and I think that is about $100, but you have 3 girls and I have only 1 that will get her pictures taken. I think I am in trouble for this trip though as the characters have all new outfits

here is the link to poohmomof5 trip report. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2502693 I really should not read it as it mades me sad that I am not able to take more than 8 works days in a row off. I need to look for a new job.

It is hot here, they are saying the Queen cut short her trip to New York yesterday and returned to England as it was too hot. It is 44 with the humidex today.

I had terrible time for booking fights for Orlando next year for our royal caribbean cruise and I wish I booked package at first place and it was none flight ... I had been in travel agent three times this week and finaly got the flights contential with Delta :cheer2::cheer2: but bad news heavy taxes on it and these are very expensive flights since two years ago...

flight prices are dear nowaday....

I asked ages ago on the main board about the photo CD to see if I could guess what the price would be for an 8 night - it was $399 last summer on the 7 night and it was $399 on the early 11 night Med cruises so I can't see it being any different for our 8 night :)

I think I am going to get the photo CD for our second cruise as it is longer and just buy a few prints from the first cruise - unless they do a good deal on photo CDs for B2B cruises.

Hi everyone,

We are back from our trip to Papenburg, to the Meyer Werft to see how far they are with the construction of the new Disney Dream...
this is a link to the photo's...
http://www.photoshop.com/index.html...1a5d8b3946&wf=shareslideshow&trackingid=BTAGC

I just hope the link works....

See you all real soon !

The link worked just fine, thank you so much for sharing those photos. Took a while to load but all was ok once it woke it!

Can't believe Mick and I will be on the maiden voyage of the beautiful Disney Dream .. actually, need to pay the balance soon!!

Hey folk

(1) How many beach towels do I need to bring - assuming the girls (3 of them) want to swim every day how many towels do I need to pack? Bearing in mind my 10 year old and I will each have a full size suitcase (on wheels) each to manage, as I am the only adult, I'm trying to be sensible about how much I bring that perhaps I could do without.I wont bring the towel with me as disney cruise do the towel on deck but if you do the tour you can pick the towel up from the deck and return it to outside cruise.... save your weight for the flight?

(2) I take it i need travel plugs that I would take to America but how many outlets are there in the room for all the chargers etc I need to bring?? I try to think as it is in toilet and yes in stateroom too... it is usa plug...

(3) Can someone remind me where I can find a web site that calculates the suggested tips for the cast members? I read it somewhere but now for the life of me cannot remember where! I am trying to sort out my budget before we travel!I do have it but laptop crashed and wipe out everything.... so I will find it out from my computer...hope someone can pass it to you

(4) Finally, for now, has anyone any idea of the price of the photo CD on our 8 night cruise? Like I say, just trying to work out what I will need for spending money!!u mean photograph take on cruise, you can buy the package but it is expensive but worthing... around 100 dolllars ? or you mean buy CD from the cruise?[/COL

THANKS A MILLION FOR YOUR ANSWERS - YOU WERE VERY QUICK - I WILL NEED TO THINK OF SOME MORE QUESTIONS TO KEEP YOU ON YOUR TOES!!

Had read somewhere not to take towels but when I watched the Disney Vacation planning DVD they had sent me of course everyone round the pool had their fabulous new brightly coloured beach towels bought especially for the cruise and I thought perhaps taking the plain white ones from the room could look at bit cheap - but I am conscious of the space they will take up!!

As for the tip calculator -GREAT!

I have been to the local post office and got myself 50 $1 dollar bills to tips room service cast members! I must think I am going to order ALOT of room service - ive enough to tip 2-3 times a day if you are only meant to give $2-3!!!!

Oh boy, I am getting soo excited as well as tempted to book another for next year - I think I need something to look forward to continually!!

Jude

We use www.fairfx.com I found them from recommendations on the UK Trip Planning forum here on the Dis. They generally have a better interest rate than most currency exchange places. You pre load the card in advance so then when you are paying for something you know the funds are already there and there is no wondering what rate you will get on that day.

Hi Mel
Thanks for this great tip - I only ordered mine the other day and it came in record time - I'd never heard of such as "prepaid" card before - what a brilliant idea - thanks for sharing it

My local post office said they only have $5's and larger. I was going to ask if any of our American friends would be willing to bring some extra $1's to change with me for a larger bill. I think I will need around $75

Regarding room service tips I think in general it depends how much you order, If there are just a couple of cookies and some milk for example people might tip $2 but if there are main courses and side orders for 4 people then you would tip a little more.

I totally know what you mean about having one to look forward to. I know we won't be cruising in 2011 but we will be booking something onboard so we have a dummy sailing ready to move for a 2012 cruise.

Finally - the towels, I *think* you can get towels by the pool I am not 100% but I think they prefer you NOT to take your room towels up there. When DCL docks at Castaway Cay there is a towel station when you get off but as most of the excursions are not beach type ones on our cruise I would think you would need to pre plan and get towels from the pool area to use on your excursion - not sure if that is encouraged \ officially allowed or not but it goes without saying that if they lost too many then it would be prevented so if you borrow make sure it doesn't get left behind!!

Hey Bats

Am I right in assuming I can take a standard UK trailing lead/4 socket extension strip, use a single travel plug to plug it into the wall and then use the 4 UK standard sockets to charge everything - in other words, does the one US Travel plug covert the voltage for the entire trailing lead?? Just don't want to blow anything up! I know the travel plug is fine for individual items, just didn't think about plugging in a 4 socket extension lead and assuming it would be powerful enough to convert from 110 to 240 or whatever the voltage is - and no husband to ask - its kinda man thing!!

Forgive the electrical ignorance!!!

I might have hit our post office on a good day but they gave me all the single $$ they had. Do you want me to see if I can get more for you?

I've used it exactly like that in the past Jude so I can't see why it wouldn't work again. Bloomin hope so anyway as that's what's coming with me!
Just buy a real cheap one and leave it there. :)

We've done this too! Dh is a tech freak so we have loads to re- charge! I've even used my hairdryer off it too whilst warming straighteners! Never had a problem.

Can't believe that this cruise is only 3 weeks away! Colleagues laughed when I told them I had booked this cruise in oct/nov 2008!

Looking forward to meeting everyone in person too.

They have towels by all the pools and will provide towels from the Ship to take on all excursions that need towels. Disney is pretty good about that!

Woo Hoo - 3 weeks left, that is not ime at all!

It is the school summer fete tomorrow so I am baking tonight to make items for the cake stall. Usually this would be fun but yesterday I made a 2 foot square Victoria Spnge cake for a function my dad is catering on Sunday and so I am a little sick of cake making!

Weather is lovely here today, shame I have been working on the art project at school today - well the pay will be nice but no sunshine for me today!

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Have a safe Trip and see you on board! Can't believe it will be in three weeks! Have to start packing!

Just found out that they will start my kitchen on Monday!:scared1: I thought that when I started this it would not happen until after the cruise but I lucked into the fact that they were able to get the cabinents, floor, and granite right away!!! So this weekend when I had planned to do a lot of packing I will be emptying out my kitchen!! Oh well but the time it is done I will be leaving for the cruise so I have something to look foward to when I return. Of course lets see how I feel next week when I am completely stressed out!!
