July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days!

Happy Sunny Saturday Everyone!
I agree with Anna- its going so fast now- I'm starting to get the "Remember, we don’t have a money tree in the backyard" speech from my DH as I start to ramble on about clothes, souvenirs, photos, cosmetics, (I try not to say the "E" word to often (excursions), hotels, transfers, etc. LOL

But then I look back on my parents, who I lost within 9 months of each other and think about how they were waiting until retirement to travel and do things they should have done while they were strong enough to do so. Toward the end my mom said, live now, while you really can enjoy because you never know what tomorrow may bring. She also reminded me not to get carried away, do in moderation.
So we gave up the spring Disneyworld trip, and our small summer trip and booked this. We are so happy we did As a bonus I got to meet all of you!

Helen: I've started my diet too!! I need to fit into some of my summer clothes or I really will give my DH a stroke with crise shopping!

Anna I will be visiting my cousins in Staten Island soon, I wanted to go to your friend's scrapbook store while Im there- can you tell me where it is? I saw her post about it somewhere but I cant find it- she lives in Staten Island also and she too is going on the cruise I believe. I love to scrapbook and im always looking for new shops. I cant wait to scrap this trip!!!

I think overall time is going fast - although to get to 29th April it seems to be dragging a bit

eeyorelvr10 - I dont know if it was me that planted the idea about putting spanish on your ipod. I have bought a couple of phrase books that come with cds. I have put these on my ipod. My favourite one is the DK Eyewitness Spanish phrase book.

I dont about anyone else - but my main thing at the moment, is I really need to lose abit of weight before this cruise
I keep looking @ my wardrobe, I have so many nice summer clothes that would be lovely for the cruise- but they are a size smaller than I am ! I also keep thinking about the lovely food on the cruise Its difficult I still have to take it easy after my surgery, but I am managing a bit on my exercise bike.
If I dont do anything else my aim is to do at least 20 mins a day on the bike between now and the sail date!!

Look at what just happened at VT also - life is too short - I am so happy I have been and will share this trip with my children - memories last forever/a lifetime.

I believe the person in Staten Island you are referring to posted here a long time ago - close to when this thread was started. I believe she travelled with some others here also on a previous cruise and she has a daughter who works in Disney. I am not sure. I need to go back and see if I find her post. My friend is Disneymagic316 (Wendy) - I don't think she does scrapbooks. We are in the Oakwood area (near Gateway Beach on Hylan Blvd.- I am sure your cousin is familiar with the area.
Sorry - I can't help you unless you remember the name of the store?

She has not posted here in a long time - I wonder if they are still cruising and their friends also.

Hey guys. We are onboard. I can't believe it. Micco booked it today, I asked him about their cancellation policy, and he said not to worry, because WE ARE GOING!!!!! I am so excited, I can't contain myself. Trying to keep this quiet from Allie, we will tell her when we see her on Sunday in WDW.

So for those of you who don't know us, let me introduce my family: Debi (me - will be 47 when we cruise), Dh (Micco - will be 48 cruise time), DD (Alex - will be 20 cruise time, currently a WDW CM) and DD (Briana - will be 17 cruise time). We are from NYC and cruised last summer with Jlawall and LynnTarrant. We had such a great time and met so many wonderful people from this board, I am hoping to have the same kind of experience again. The people we met last year will be friends for a lifetime, I am just sad some of them won't be joining us on this trip. But we are looking forward to meeting new people, and having THE TIME OF OUR LIFES. This is a vacation we have waited for for many years, and we are going to enjoy every minute of it.

I guess I will have to brush up on my Spanish too, but the Italian...not necessary, I have Micco with me....

And now I got on this board right from the start so I won't miss anything like last time...LOL.

We are heading to WDW this Sunday for 5 days to see our DD, and we are looking forward to some warmer weather after that crazy snow we had here on Wednesday.

It is very nice to mee all of you, and I look forward to getting to know you over the next 15 months.

I think your figures work out well, I think for a familiy of four its far cheaper for us than DCL, I also think very good value for you.

We have a lot of flexibility, and the drivers can go places coaches cannot and they have local knowledge, I know you will enjoy, what dinner are you on, cuase it will be nice to meet up asap, on the cruise.

E.MAIL I will tell Alice she will look, she sometimes is a little slow, plus actually currently DAD me is on her laptop rather than my computer.

Stephen goes on this and was proud to say to me he deleted all the e.mails, and then said, how do I write to my penfreinds.

So if there are any penfreinds out their for Stephen please write as well.

Glad to have you onboard, I think it will be more enjoyable with you as well, the kids will enjoy the company- Ill e.mail.

Hi Lisa - Hi Anne - this is Laura - April's mom - I was just checking in day and saw your picture - you are awesome - April cut her hair about 3 years ago -wait - it was in 6th grade and she's now in 8th so I can't do math - maybe it is 3 anyway, I showed her your picture and she's excited. Our computers have been acting up very slowly - don't know if its due to the weather we had yesterday - all day rain - very unusual for us in CA or some virus one of the older kids may have done to the system. Anyway, back to April -she too cut her hair and donated it - I told her that if she let her hair grow out in her Freshman year of high school she can organize a Locks of Love Hair Cutting marathon at her high school to help her earn her Humanitarian hours and to show others that they can help no matter how small that may be - after all - every little bit helps. The problem with April's is her fair if very fine - she cut about 12 inches last time - she had very long hair but since it was babyfine - it may not have amounted to much. Annie's hair reminds me of my son's hair - he had that gorgeous red color that ladies like - it eventually darkened and if he's not in the sun much it's more of a rusty red brown - once he goes in the sun - then he's a true red head again! Anyway, I'll have April e-mail you again.

Sent you a e.mail, re dinner, I have always gone for early otherwise my kids will think they will go hungery and attack Plutos and all the fast food, burgers etc and miss out on a good meal.

I have always been happy with this and hope our tours will get us back in time for these.
