HI Lisa,
I was so devastated when I heard the news at school today. When I got home Carley remembered that Gretchen lived in Virginia and asked if she lived close to VTech. When I went on line I couldn’t believe your son is going there this September and you were all just there.
I am on my way to church to light some candles for all the families. I know I'm a few states away, but PLEASE let me know if there is anything we can do from New York along with many prayers. I just can't understand what is happening in this world. It certainly put the excursion worries into perspective-

I am absolutely speechless. Everytime something horrible happens and you think you have seen/heard it all - something worse happens.

Prayers and sympathies for everyone there. I just can't believe it.

Does DD love Disney? My DS does!! Is she on the Facebook VA Tech 2011 Wall? PM me and we can let them be friends on facebook!!

One friend just came by and her son's friends girlfriend is dead. It is just so sad

Yes, she loves Disney!!. She actually met her current boyfriend(who lives in Va Beach) on the 10 day Christmas cruise. He will be going to school at Roanoke this fall. I know nothing about the Facebook so I will PM you to find out about it.

So sad to hear about your friend's son's girlfriend.:sad1: We are sending along our thoughts and prayers.

And here's a little pixie dust pixiedust: hoping tomorrow is a better day.

Sorry everyone - didn't mean to take over your thread.:flower3:

Two girls from our HS, Westfield HS, have been hit one is dead. Reema Samaha did not make it though surgury. Below is a picture of her in Arsenic & Old Lace last spring. She is in white, Erin Peterson is reportedly still in surgury. She was shot in the head. Please pray for these families.

It's terrible when it happens, and worse when it is someone you know from your school. I am so sorry for you, and for their loss.

Here's my pixiedust: and so :sad1: for all those affected. Here's to a healthy recovery although the road will be a tough one. I say healthy as I don't think anyone ever really gets over such a tragedy as this. Here I thought that something like this would not affect many people but the world is really small and I am heartbroken for the familes.

My prayers and best wishes to everyone!

Hi Andrew!
I would be so thankful if you could check into the availability of your tours. I am really starting to check into things now. I want to try save as much as I can, but I don’t want to get stuck with a poor tour experience. I heard from the guide my friends used today. A full day private guide and car is 560 euros for our small family. That translates into appprox. $780.00 dollars. I am considering this since my friend said this guide was extremely knowledgeable (PHD) and was able to avoid many lines. So, if I go that way in Rome, I will need to buddy up with another family if possible. When you get a chance I would love to get the info- if your time is limited, send me the info and I will try to get the details- I dont want to put you out- I know how time consuming all this is. Have a great day and Thanks again!
Sallie

Have your PM and have sent E.mails to the operators mentioned.

They have both confirmed ok, I have PM'd you

OK, I was totally crying tonight.....terrible tragedy..........let's all pray for the families and the students who saw too much and now have to go on....:grouphug:

I really admire those of you planning private tours. We just decided to go through Disney as it is our first time to Europe. Perhaps on our next visit we'll pick and choose sites. It was overwhelming just picking out the excursions, never mind planning individual tours. :confused3

I Know what you mean.
I have 1st and 2nd choices saved in my wish list - however we are taking the view that if we cant get on an excursion, its not the be all and end of it all. Being in the UK we can go and make a separate trip in the future. Its not too far away. I just wish it was the 29th so we'd all know one way or another. I hate this waiting.

You can still do it there are a number of great operators out there willing to go the extra mile and may have better local knowledge than DCL, I had a list earlier in this thread.

There is a great thread on the main board, bumped it up to help you find it, link:-

Hi Andrew
To be honest, we are not wanting private tours. The excursions we are hoping to book are mild and only 4-5 hours long. Physically I am not up to alot and I wouldn't want to hold anyone up or indeed let anyone down. If you know what I mean.

Dave and myself are looking forward to chilling out. There are a couple of excursions we would really like to do, but if we cant get them yes I'll be disappointed but we'll just make the most of it.

Its the not knowing thats killing me. I can deal with it if I know!;)
