Hi all,

I hope you are all ok. I wont be around that much over the next few weeks as I am going into hospital tomorrow for an operation.

Thankfully I have the cruise to look forward to and that is my light at the end of the tunnel. My rehab is basically all focussed around getting to Barcelona in July.

I am quite anxious but I know I am at a very good hospital, and I have wonderful friends and family to help me through. Feel free to PM if there is any news regarding our cruise.

Thanks for your support and friendship

Not long now - how many days is it?:hourglass

Helen,

We will miss you on the board, good luck and we will all be praying for you. Speedy recovery. Too bad there is no wireless internet (don't know what it's called :confused3 at the hospitals and allow laptops). Get well soon!

Sounds good thank you, on a thread on the main board a number of cruisers feel relaxed smart casual is prefered due to long days out, the dressing up is limited to sea days thats good. But hope DCL more flexible this time.

Thx for the updates, Ruth!! Soon my parents will be stopping in to say, "Hi!" Brace yourselves!!!

So there is only one formal and two semi-formal nights? What is Pirate night?

I'm confused. What if we were to want and eat dinner every night on board? Not saying we would, but what are the options then?

There is a formal, sit-down dinner every night onboard. However, a few of the nights are "formal" or "semi-formal" when the men wear tuxes or suits and the women wear formal gowns or dressy dresses. The other evenings discourage jeans or informal attire at dinner but it's more casual. People usually "do it up" on the formal nights and get family portraits, etc...........

Pirate night is a relatively new experience which has replaced "Tropicalifragilicious" night.............there is a pirate theme and many "dress up" for the occasion with "wench" outfits, and pirate attire. During dinner the waiters do a special theme dinner for it (I believe they gave out kerchiefs on our last cruise) and we all got into costume as well. It's really fun and there's a dance on Deck 9 and a late night buffet!! We had a blast on our last cruise......you know, line dances, etc and performances by the cruise staff (Ian, Pikey??):dance3:

Hello everyone.... :yay: We (My wife and I ) plan to join you folks for the July 28
cruise...... Our names be Alice and Bill and are older than dirt...:lmao:
Not my wife of course, she looks like a teen-ager:rolleyes1 She has paid her "dues":scared1:married to me for 48 ?? years:... JoAnn has warned me ,to behave, so I'll keep this brief...:cheer2:

We are the "rent's" that JoAnn lawall refers to ...:confused3 We are looking forward to the cruise, being with the grandaughters, JoAnn and Ken..and of course meeting you folks:grouphug:

Wow - It's been a few months since I was able to read the posts on the board. So many new pages. I think it took me the better part of the last two days just to catch up!!

I was reading all the info about the hotels, we booked through Disney at the Husa L'Illa, 748 for two nights. One prior, one post. Plus the 84 transfer for each of us. Starting to wonder if I should book the transfer or just do my own transportation. Not sure, but with what we are spending on getting there, and everything else, seems like I want as worry free as possible trip. So what's another $350? Also considering cancelling and rebooking myself, online seems so much cheaper. Even when i convert Euro to USD. Did anyone find out if we could book our own hotel, and use the Disney transfer? I read a post where someone thought Disney might not allow that.

I'm getting pretty nervous, applied for passports for my 3 boys (9, 12, and DH) and the US website keeps changing the date that they should arrive. Now it's scheduled for the 12th.

When should we see the books on the cruises? We booked through DVC, and it seems somewhat backward anytime we have questions. DCL wont answer them, I have to call DVC, and then get this - I'm put on HOLD while DVC calls DCL to ask my question. Took 1.5 hours just to book my hotel room.

Finally booked our air on BA. Decided to fly in the day before, and not leave until the day after. That way we not only get to see Barcelona, but we don't have to worry about cutting it close. I know it will be a long lay-over, but I booked flights with 4 hours in London. But hey - we'll have our HP books to read :) I'm really hoping that one of the bookstores at Heathrow will sell the adult cover editions, that way i don't have to pay for shipping.

I have some questions for you repeat cruisers. When looking at the map, what do the asterisks mean next to the aft staterooms? And, we are in a cat 6, which says some sleep 3 some sleep 4. Is there any way of knowing if your room sleeps 3 or 4? I tried to find out on the stateroom reports, but wasn't that successful. I just hope that they wouldn't book us into a room where the boys had to share a twin bed.

Well off to work time. According to my DVC countdown desktop, we have 4 mos, 17 d, 15 h, and 52 mins of torture until our flight takes off!

Do people really go all out for the formal nights? I was thinking (because luggage is an issue) to just have the boys wear nice dress pants with nice button down collared shirts. And I would wear a nice dress. I figured the other nights I would treat it as if we were going to a nice restaurant that has linen napkins instead of paper. I've heard some people describe what reminds me of Senior Ball or Junior Prom.

And as for Pirate night....our whole family really enjoy going to the Ren Faires around here (Nor Cal, SoCal, Tahoe, and all the little ones in between). So we have quite the 'done up' pirate outfits. So when you say 'many "dress up" for the occasion with "wench" outfits, and pirate attire.' just how far do people go? I'm only asking because when I read your post to my DH last night, the first thing he said was "Should we bring the red suitcase?" Which refers to our Ren outfits.
