[quote I'm with you Maryann- overpacking :crazy2: :crazy2: I'm definitely taking a tank top/no sleeve type of top for each day, plus 2 or 3 extra, so that makes about 20 tops!!!!
light weight shirt to put over skimpy/FLASH resistent tops for church
shorts for each day
2 bathing suits
cover- up for pool (so as not to scare the public with my large percentage of body fat)
4-5 capris
4 skorts
2 evening dresses
couple of sweaters
pirate top
wrap for formal night
pjs/undies
haven't found the right lightweight skirt to put over shorts for church
and probably more of the above

and finally the most important item.................come on........... you know..................did you guess??????????????????

my propellor hat!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl2:  :woohoo: :dance3:

[/quote]

Don't you think they should give us an extra allowance of at least one piece of luggage for shoes only, over and above the two checked and the carry-on!!???:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Harole Ann , my son's team played a double header today at Disney Wide World of Sports and lost both games :sad2: Their first game was against a team from Santa Domingo which my DH said all looked like they were 16 ( it's a 12U bracket) and it was 11-0 by the fourth inning.....yikes. The next game was against a team from Puerto Rico and was 13-8. They have 3 more games to play , I hope tomorrow is better! I'm like you, I LOVE baseball. The boys are having a good time thought, it's a wonderful group of kids. Just wanted to share with another BB fan. :cheer2:

Penny--I know you are having a great time just being at Wide World of Sports! Good Luck tomorrow! Here's some
pixiedust: for good luck! Our 8 year old pitched against 10 year olds and won today!!  ! The first win for his All Star Team! We were really doing the:banana: dance! Have a safe trip and we will see you soon!!:grouphug:

I must have been in dreamland:cloud9: .

I'll make a guess that you folk across the pond will not get them first, you seem to get everything later than us. We New Yorkers never get anything early, we're fairly low on the list too. Hmmmmm........ I'll go with........

ARIZONA!!! Only because I feel so bad for them in the horrible heat wave they're having. (Sorry California and Las Vegas - I do feel sorry for you, too!)

We should probably try to figure out who got their castaway club cards and DVD early, maybe that will give us a hint.

Maryann

Well, they tried to tell me they mailed my DVD in February!! We all know that no one had one in February, but based on that I should have had my cruise tickets two months ago:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Harole Ann, - I was just lying in bed thinking of the you in the USA and was wondering how Princess Jasmine would be coping with all the fireworks.

I appreciate how you feel. Our dogs hate fireworks too - well if you think their hearing is 50x better than ours and I jump when a banger goes off.

The main celebration when we have fireworks is Bon fire night (Nov 5th) although people tend to set them off earlier and earlier. This year it we had fireworks around us everynight for 3 weeks.

Our Old dog Sally (14) was sadly very affected. She would sit in the house and shake. She then preceeded to spend a month walking into tight corners and spaces. Strangely and bumpin into things constantly. Our vet was worried that she was not gettting enough Oxygen to her brain -but after tests we all put it down to the fireworks. It took just over a 2 months for her to settle and get back to normal.

One thing that helped -and might help you is a DAP plugin.
Have you heard of them - DAP stands for dog appeasing pheramone (SP)

Basically it looks like a airfreshener that you plug in. However the scent is not perfumed -infact humans cannot smell it- When a b has puppys she releases a scent that comforts and soothes the puppys - that is what is in the DAP.

It really helped our dogs -Im sure you'll be able to get them in the states.

Thanks, Helen--it's worth a try as we are still booming tonight! I don't think the neighbors will ever run out of fireworks! It poured the rain earlier today and I thought, good, no fireworks tonight--well, the rain is gone and the booming is here and poor Princess Jasmine is under the bed or tight in dh's arms!

Just thought I would share our plans. If anyone else has reserved the same trips, let me know! :woohoo:

I was quite amazed by the number of fireworks I heard given that private use of fireworks are illegal throughout our county. While I do miss them, I understand the need - as it's tinder dry around here. In fact, a friend of mine drove by a burning house late yesterday evening....

Here's My List:
  • 1 pair Jeans
  • 2 pair Dockers
  • 3 pair Shorts
  • 2 printed T-Shirts
  • 3 Polos
  • 2 Tommy Bahama Shirts
  • 1 Swimsuit
  • 1 Partridge in a Pear Tree
  • 1 Suit (Formal/Semi Formal/Palo)
  • 1 Dress Shirt/Tie
  • 1 Silk Shirt (Semi Formal)
I'll be washing at least twice since i'm only going ashore 4 of the 8 days... I need to relax!!!

I am not even making a list--clothes are on three hooks on the back of the door sorted by shore excursion--evening---ship time. I plan to start trying things on tomorrow to be sure everything still fits:rotfl: and then dh hopes I don't say "let's go shopping" again! I did a lot of that between baseball games the past week! I will not be washing clothes! That is not part of my game plan!:scared1:

There are certain ones that must be legal, because there are fireworks stands everywhere you go. I just worry about the unsupervised use of these, like you are saying in dry areas. There were two tubes of some sort in my yard and what is to say something would not land on my roof or my neighbors roof as well. I don't think there would be a danger of fire tonight, but last night would have been different. People just don't use good sense.

This is my 2000th post!

Note to self: get a life!
:rotfl2:

Ummm, pizza sounds pretty good right about now! Is anyone else planning on trying the pizza at Antica da Michele in Napoli? Not fancy but supposed to be really good authentic pizza margarita.
I'd like to try pizza someplace, but not sure where... Is Michele's THE place to eat pizza?

Yes, I will be interested to see what it feels like to be such a relatively small ship in the middle of such a vast ocean, no land for 6 days . . . of course we're only going because the prices got so low that we could do the July 28 med, the repo, and the 10 days in France between for the same price we had already paid for the 10 day Aug 8 med and the 10 days in France. Yes, the airfare is the same one way or return, but we had already paid for that anyway and we were able to switch dates with no problem.
Wow, you're really going on a vacation of a lifetime! Will you be writing trip reports about your adventures?

YES:rotfl2:

PS

Congrats, Andrew!

I'm calling the next one.... .... I hope

Oh, those were funny.

USA $ / POUND £ RATE

Good time to be in Europe, not so good for people of USA-Sorry!

USA.png
This is a culture shock for me -- at least the Euro will be. I'm used to the USD being strong... but, we'll have fun anyway!

Has anyone gotten their cruise docs yet?
Nope, not us.

Reminds me of an incident on my second or third cruise....

I was doing a conference circuit and had flown into Orlando from Frankfurt. I had a tooth that on the flight was a bit sensitive to cold, so I decided to have it checked - just in case, so I wouldn't have trouble on the cruise. Found a dentist in Orlando who found two cavities that needed to be filled. Had him do it, but the bite wasn't quite right so it remained painful and sensitive.
I'd also been feeling under the weather on the trip, so I went to a doc in the box for a mild sore throat - again, just in case. Doc didn't think it was anything, but came back within minutes of doing a rapid strep test - yep, positive for that as well.
So I spent the entire cruise still on antibiotics and pain killers (for the teeth and sore throat - you know how it is after strep, you're not contagious after a few days on the meds, but it still hurts like crazy), chewing as carefully as I could.
I still had a great cruise, but remember feeling that the situation had crossed the line from annoying into ludicrous

Three weeks should be plenty of recovery time. If you want a laugh, remind me on the cruise to tell you my wisdom teeth story - another one that is very funny in hindsight, but not one you'd want to hear now :)
Ouch. Sounds like you were able to enjoy your cruise anyway, so that was good.

Hi Everyone -

This is my 2nd post YEAH!!! :yay:
It's very hard to keep up with you guys!!! :confused3
I admit it - I'm a lurker :surfweb: I don't have a computer at home so I can only check on your chats while I'm at work... Anyway I am SO excited I can barely stand it. I'm driving everyone I know crazy - all I talk about is getting ready for the cruise, shopping for the cruise, packing for the cruise etc etc etc. I'm driving my husband crazy :rotfl2: because every day I come home from work with some new printed off info... packing list, travel tips, airline baggage limits. I read the blogs on allears.net and I can't wait to experience Italy and France.
Can't wait to meet you all. Take Care - See you on 7/28

We're going on the Monaco, Monte Carlo, & Eze tour, so we'll see you there.

I was quite amazed by the number of fireworks I heard given that private use of fireworks are illegal throughout our county. While I do miss them, I understand the need - as it's tinder dry around here. In fact, a friend of mine drove by a burning house late yesterday evening....
Our house caught fire back in '79 from a bottle rocket that landed on the roof. Luckily my father was home & he & my brother quickly turned the hose on it & saved our house. So, I'm always wary when fireworks go off, and there are a LOT in our neighborhood. Plus, we're next to the Home Depot Soccer stadium & there is always a huge fireworks display there. Harole Ann, your Princess Jasmine would hate it at my house on 4th of July.

It depends on location. There are no fireworks stands in our county either.

It's part of the "charm" of this part of California. Last rainfall we had was in early May I think, and we probably won't get more rain until September at the earliest - October is more likely. So "tinder dry" isn't an exaggeration.

Wow. It seems my DD & DS were lucky. When they bought their pounds, the rate was at the lowest.

So, are you treating lunch, Andrew?:rotfl: :rotfl:

Wait until Sallie hears this!!!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Maryann

I've been having trouble posting today- it won't let me quote so here goes-

Andrew- Congratulations on your 10,000th post.

Julie- Congratulations on your 2,000th post.

Mrs G- Your packing list sounds fine to me.

I'll be on later and maybe I 'll be able to quote.

Yeah, I noticed that. I did buy some pounds earlier. I just keep telling myself that I saved almost $3000 in the downgrade, and that will make up for the exchange rate shift many, many times over....

Yes the pound is going up

Wow, you're really going on a vacation of a lifetime! Will you be writing trip reports about your adventures?

No, I won't do a trip report -- don't want to take the time while on the trip, too crazed when I first come back from the trip, and then I lose interest! You'll get a report of the highlights here on this thread when I get back, though.

Supposedly there are two rivals in the "best Naples pizza" contest: Antica Pizzaria da Michele, at the intersection of Via Pietro Colletta and Via Cesare Sersale, near Piazza Garibaldi, and Pizzaria Trianon, literally across the street. Michele supposedly attracts more locals (which appeals to me) but Trianon has air conditioning, better atmosphere, and higher prices to match.

These pictures are so beautiful. I will sit here at work, close my eyes and picture myself already there. How lucky people are to live there and see that beauty every day!

Hey MaryJo,
We are doing the Calanques of Cassis (1245pm-515pm )
:goodvibes
looking forward to meeting you

Packing

I do hate packing - but what is even worse is letting dave anywhere near the cases!!!

What I do!

In one of the bedrooms I lay out the two cases.

In another one I lay out all the clothes I have bought for the cruise.

Then I realise I have bought way too much!

So I try to cut back - nightmare

I then go on the BA website and pay for extra baggage!
-
Then it comes to shoes - how many is too many? You've got to match and be comfortable. - Then do I take trainers - if I want to go to the gym I guess so
Argh

I will pack the weekend before teh cruise (Fri 20th) Dave is away then.:rolleyes1 He wont know how much is in the cases until we are at the airport :rolleyes1
