Thank you for the input, it will help in our calculations and planning.

On another note, has anyone had the spa villa before. We have it booked but the price is rally high so we are thinking twice about it.

Sandra

As we getting into micro-managing planning, mode, let's not forget to feed our hearts and minds as well -- the ultimate point of this trip is to enjoy it and to appreciate it. I have been adding quotes (where my quotes are coming from) and bits of information into my travel journal as well as reservation numbers and schedules and plans.

On that note, tonight I was re-visiting some information about Villefranche and Eze, and felt like sharing with all of you. The artist Jean Cocteau found Villefranche as an adult in the 1920's, and settled there, eventually painting the Chapelle de St.-Pierre as well as many of his masterpieces such as "Orpheus" and "Les Enfants Terribles," and welcoming friends such as Isadora Duncan, Picasso, and Stravinsky. Cocteau said, "When I look at Villefranche, I see my youth. May it never change."

On a different note, 25 years ago this summer the Rolling Stones settled in Villefranche as tax exiles and created their own masterpiece, "Exile on Main Street."

In nearby Eze, the philosopher Frederick Nietzsche spent a holiday and came away changed. "I slept well, I laughed a lot, and I found a marvelous vigor and patience," he said later. He found the inspiration for the third section of "Thus Spake Zarathustra" there, creating Zarathustra's mantra for his own journey while climbing the steep incline from Eze Sur-le-Mer to Eze Village, "You are treading your path of greatness. No one shall steal after you here."

Currently, Bono from U2 has a house in Eze . . . I hear they are working on a new album, but in Morocco rather than Eze, unfortunately.

Hi everyone....I have missed you all!!

Daniel DS17 graduated from High School and the next day I took my mom to the doctor and he told us she can not be alone anymore. I have had her with me for these two weeks...and it has been busy. I am tired.

I have arranged for her to stay with one of my brothers in Delaware for the next several weeks while we are on vacation.
Next week, my brother from South Carolina and my Delaware brother and my mom and me are going to spend the 4th of July together and try and come up with a plan going forward.

She does not want assisted living so I guess she will live with me or spend some time with each of us during the year. She is fighting this all the way (she is 85 and mostly healthy). Her body can not hold onto sodium anymore, so the risk of fainting is high. She has lost 14 pounds in 6 months (now she weighs 95 pounds). She has broken her back 9 times in 5 years. All of this makes her doctor say she can not be alone...but her mind is very strong (better than mine)....

Anyway, I am getting excited about the trip...we got our room assignment ...Desk 6 aft. Has everyone who went to CAT 12 gotten a room? Is our cruise sold out?

Did the group get Palo for the group dining.

I am going to do the nametags this weekend.

More later!!

So sorry to hear about your mother, but you are so blessed that her mind is good. It is so sad to see someone outlive their mind. How fortunate that you have brothers to help out as well. I will be thinking about you.:grouphug:

Sorry to hear about your mother, but it is wonderful of you and your siblings to take care of her rather than going to assisted living.

There are actually two groups of Palo dining now! I think there is limited availability on our cruise now, if anything. Glad you like your room assignment!

Lisa,

I'm sorry about your mother's health. It is sad to see the people you love who took care of you begin to fail. It's wonderful that you are all pitching in to take care of her and not letting it all fall on one person's shoulders. You are in our prayers.

Sandra

Just a reminder if you are going to particiapate in the fish extender please let me know so I can add you to the list. We will post it later so everyone knows who is going to play.

Sandra

I do not want to do fish extender, but would like to do the group gift from our area. I know I have been out of touch...can someone help me on this?

Thin, yes, in shape, NO. :lmao: :lmao:

I remember someone mentioning walking around the ship in the morning. I might be interested in that.

Does anyone know if the time we actually arrive in port is posted somewhere. I'd like to be up and actually see as we pull into each port.

Sandra

Sandra, I don't know where I found it, but it had to be on the DCL web site someplace because I have a printed sheet with arrival and departure times for each port.

Arrival-Palermo-7:00am
Arrival-Naples-8:00am
Arrival-Olbia-9:30am---interesting since our shore excursion begins at 9:15
Arrival-Rome-7:30am
Arrival-Florence/Pisa-7:30am
Arrival-Marseille-8:00am
Arrival-Nice(Villefranche)-8:30am

I printed this sheet quite some time ago and they may have updated it or just removed it. I have not looked for it recently.

Did you get my note that we are doing the fish extender?

Thank you Harole Ann, I thought I had seen it somewhere but maybe they did remove it. I might not be crazy after all.

I was wondering where you were. How did the baseball games go? It seems like a lot of driving to these games. What wonderful grandparents you are to go to every game for your grandsons. I hope they appreciate you.

It won't be long now until we are on our cruise.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I could use it right about now.

I'm going to bed early it's the only place where I won't explode at someone.

GoodNight,
Sandra:mad:

Yes, luckly her mind is still there. You have your work cut out. It's a great thing you are doing for your mom. It's the full circle - not sure what the expression is. She is also lucky to have her kids to take care of her. I hear horror stories at work all the time.

I don't know how the disboard works sometimes. There are days where I check my mail and I have no email notifications. Now I know better and check the thread. I find about 10 pages of replies. Now for instance, I went to check for any updates here and I had about 25 email notifications from this morning's replies :sad2:
