By the way, Andrew, thanks for mentioning the Hard Rock Cafe and reminding me about that -- I was able to make priority seating for the 27th when we are likely to be tired and jet lagged and Hard Rock in Placa de Catalunya will be just the ticket . . .
I am booked there that day as well! Enjoy
You can make it the quote of the day, but I will still list my own quote of the day, unless you would prefer to take over?
Sorry I am not taking over, I just love that quote.
Excellent choice, Andrew. And so true. If only we could make the whole box dark chocolate truffle....hm.........:rotfl: :rotfl:

Maryann
Yes or a chocolate DCL strawberry
Andrew & Julie:

Oh I enjoy both of you quoting - both are so different but both are always true and poignant. Don't stop!

Maryann

I just thought about that one again and also Natasha Beddingfield

The rest of your life is unwritten.

OMG - I like the "name tags" too - nothing worse than biting into a candied pineapple when you were sure it looked like a skinny caramel!!

Yes, exactly!!!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I just received an email from a tablemate on the cruise my youngest daughter and I just took a few weeks ago. They had taken a picture of us the last night and wanted to send it. You will eventually see that I do have two other daughters, but at least with this one you can see our faces, so I will post it:

What a great picture and how nice of them to send it to you! What a nice keepsake!

WE are trying to figur how many Euros we will need and general expenses for the excursions on our cruise.

How much would we expect to pay for lunch for 2 people in a cafe? I know it won't be exact I just need something to use for a figure and since I havent' been to Europe since 1988 I'm guessing prices have changed.

In May for four people two adults and two kids it was between Euro 40 and Euro 70 for dinner. Many places have a set meal of the day, three courses that cam be E11-E14.

These were with soft drinks. In mid range .

Honestly, it's hard to say -- it depends on where you are, what you eat, etc. I would say pizza and a beer in naples would run as little as 5 euros each while a nice pasta lunch at a trattoria in Rome would be more like 10-14 euros each with wine. If you budgeted 20 euros per meal you plan to eat off the ship, it would probably be more than enough for the two of you.

Cut the photo to save space...but what a lovely photo...a real memory

That's probably a better estimate -- plan between 20 and 30 euros for two . . . most people probably choose better places to eat than I do!

Would you say, Julie, that the prices are comparable to NYC?

Maryann, you know how much the prices vary in NYC-- it's much the same in Europe. You can find inexpensive perfectly good food and you can find nicely decorated moderately priced places and then it goes up from there. I would anticipate that the less touristy the place, the better the prices. Eat slightly off the beaten path rather than right by a big tourist attraction -- same as you would in Manhattan.

Got it Julie, thanks!
