July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 3

We are also sailing on the Magic on the 28th of July. I just discovered these Boards. Can't believe it is only 33 days until we get to Barcelona. We have 5 adults in our group - myself, my husband, our daughter and son-in-law, and our son. This is our 6th Disney cruise, including the first Panama canal cruise. It is the second for our kids. Just wondered if anyone else is doing the VIP Vatican and Highlights of Rome? Has anyone heard any review of this excursion and how big the groups are?

Welcome, Golfmom!! We're doing that excursion too. I've read a few blogs on it. Mostly, they said it was worth the money, one said it was not. Overall, it seemed positive.

Leslie, you must be my other twin. For some reason - I'm not a very good housekeeper either. But when I clean, I deep clean and that's what the kids hate. I even get on my hands and knees and 'mop' the floors in the bathroom. I have tiny ones except for my master so its not really all that. But I do have to clean the toilet, the caulking ring, the baseboard, the mirror, beat the rugs (which the kids find hilarious for some crazy reason) and wipe down the walls,etc. Once that is done, then I can sit down and feel as if I accomplished something! But I don't have the same attn to detail in the kitchen. That is too weird!

Hey that's how I clean. If it isn't really dirty how do you know you got it clean? Deep cleaning is the best. I have tried to figure out if it actually takes less time to clean once a month or so and do a thorough job or to clean a little bit every day or so. I hate to waste time.

WE are interested in a private tour in Naples going to Herculenaem, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. If anyone has room or is booking please let me know. There are just 2 of us. We have the Pompeii, sorento and Capri but with the trip reports I'm not sure it's such a good idea. Also I'd really like to see both Herculenaeum and Pompeii and DCL didn't offer one that did both.

I have been off for 24 hours and there is so much to catch up on.

I sure do. What what I've decided is to make a list of things to be done for the trip, and do at least one thing per day. This way I feel like I'm accomplishing something and I won't get overwhelmed near the end.

(Sounds great on paper, doesn't it. Now if I can only stick with it......)

That's a great idea - I just sit here feeling overwhelmed about all that I need to do - it's so tiring that I don't end up doing anything

Right after you board, go to Rockin' Bar D and you will have the opportunity to book Palo (double check that location!)................try to board right around 12 noon and you should get the ressie that you want.............also, call each day b/c often there are cancellations at Palo!

You go right to Palo. Earlier cruisers said that when they boarded they all had to go up to the 9th floor. Palo's is there so make sure you get right on the line that's sure to form. Good luck!

Yes, it will be in the Navigator/guide given to you on check in. On the recent Med cruise it was at Palo itself but it has been at other locations before.

Thanks for the info! We'll just have to get there early and hopefully we can get some reservations.

Where has Lynnise been lately? Had to go back to page 1 to be sure of her name and then hunt since Andrew rearranged all of the pictures just when I was beginning to get familiar with the faces--- ! It does not take too much to confuse me!

Just wanted to tell her congratulations to her North Carolina baseball team. They are in the finals for the College World Series! They were my pick all along!

I love that idea! We write everything on the calendar so we don't forget, so on last Friday I wrote "plug in computer"--neither one of us has any clue why I wrote that or what I had in mind-- Do you think it is really safe for me to make a list & check it twice?? I am afraid what I might put on it! . I might end up with the dog sitter and the dog might end up on the plane!!

The last time the dog flew, her ticket was more than mine & DH's ticket! Wonder what it would cost for her to fly to Barcelona??

Now I know it is time to go to bed!

i'm planning on doing pisa on our own. lord help us. when i told my mom she had this crazy look of what is she thinking.

Forgot to mention - I got my reservations for the tower. I got 6 for the 3:40 on Saturday, August 4 which is when we're supposed to be there. 3:30 only had 3 available.

I'm assuming that you can't take cameras as the small print had a comment on a hold baggage room.. Darn - phone ringing - ooops - hung up on them.

Anyway, got our reservations. Just a reminder - no one under the age of 8 is allowed to climb the tower.

i've got my tickets for the tower also. 12:20. this will give us plenty of time to get there and plenty of time to make it back to the ship.

I want to print out some navigators to look over before the cruise. Do you think there will be many changes to the 5/26 ones? Or should I wait until a later 11 day?

I don't think there'll be too many changes. I copied them all over to a Powerpoint so I could read them - 95 pages (yikes). So, I'll just read them on the screen - maybe I'll make of the list of the things we do want to do...

I believe that after complaints from the earlier cruises, they've instituted an unlimited plan for kids only. It includes all the tracing paper you want and comes with a free plunger.

Between the TP form & this post, I see the frivolity didn't stop while I was at work today.
