Helen, Andrew has invited every single person on the thread to come to London and stay at his place -- all at the same time, of course -- but as of yet we don't have a date for that UK meet . . .:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously, no we don't have a UK meet scheduled, but hopefully one day!

If you see it posted by Julie, it must be True.

I will get the Marque up in the Garden and bus people in form the airport.

Now there is a Dismeet on the E/bound Panama in August 08.

Congrats to your family, Wendy! How exciting!

Thx to all for the well-wishes for Ken, he is completely fine now. How long did walking the marathon take, Sandra? I'm walking the WDW HM in January, I'm alittle worried!

TG, I had all the wine-tasting training on the cruise....I still think fondly of my taste buddies!!!!:rotfl:  :rotfl:  :rotfl:

Hope all are well.......where is Andrew with the 2009 news??:confused3

I've walked it twice both times took about 10 hours. We didn't rush. It took 2 days to recover. In case you didn't notice exercixe is NOT my thing. But I did it to raise money for cancer research the year my dad was dignosed with colon cancer (He's cured)PTL! If I ever did it again, and that is a very big if, I would work up to it by walking shorter distances and gradually make it to the marathon.

TO SUMMARIZE -what we know, from the posts on that thread.

One of the other talking points is the longer than usual dry dock for the magic in 2008.

2008 Dry-dock Plans
The Magic will be in dry-dock September 6-27, 2008.

Now some have mentioned including the Dispodacst team this longer dry-dock might be to assist with modifications to the pool areas for a possible Alaska trip.

DIS-PODCAST

Say Alaska Summer 2009

DCL AGENTS ON BOARD

Say cruises will start to be released early December, and the ship will be closer to its home than the previous two years. Hint Bermuda

RESPECTED TRAVEL AGENTS

Have sent e.mails saying Caribbean.

CAPTAIN TOM

Said in the Med a strong hint for Northern Europe. This was mentioned again just recently on the Wonder.

RELEASE DATES

We are told first 2 weeks of December, not sure if all of 2009 or first part.

Have usually have started in November for the first part of the following year, say January to April standard 3/4 Wonder cruises, and standard Magic cruises for 7 nights.

We are overdue, conjecture, DCL is negotiating now with Port Canaveral , they are unhappy with costs and restrictions on the port calls to keep their pier exclusive to DCL. Miami port has said soon they will sign up a big cruise line, Would DCL move to Miami or Tampa, its this a reason for delay.

PAST YEARS
The Special summer cruises have come out later,

FOR 2005 May 5th 2004
FOR 2007 April 3rd 2006
FOR 2008 January 31st 2007.

The summer 2006 cruises were double dips in the Caribbean.

Front runners:-

Alaska
Carribean special trips maybe Bermuda.

Outsdie runner

Europe but a lot of people have recently discounted the Med or Northern Europe now.

Fuel Prices

Will cruises cost a lot more?

OK AFTER THAT WHAT's it gong to be?

Andrews Tip!

NEW CARRIBEAN PORTS!!!!!

Due to global warming we have banned all Limos, gas guzzlers Chelsea tractors etc from our roads in London now, Bus is slightly better than using the Tube!

Yep on the E/bound, whys your picture not up on the pirate zone?

Pure laziness . . . I keep meaning to send in the info and picture . . . good reminder.

Couldn't you send a hybrid limo to the airport for us????????????? Or what about a horse and carriage -- no petrol required at all . . .

Horse and carriage is banded due to health and safety issues for the man with the shovel and Bucket,

Hybrid limo, is a bit of a contradiction, like a hybrid Chelsea tractor, the people who drive them dont really bother about the environment, We can get you a Hybrid London bus running on gas!

And before the jokes, yes I could power that for a week! Hower Mayor Ken Livingston can power all of them in London all of the time!:rotfl2:

Well, you can argue that if people are going to use something like an SUV, better to have it a hybrid than a gas guzzler . . . of course if we all walked everywhere it would be better for us and for the environment, but we have to be realistic and think about what little improvements we can make.

That being said, you don't have to send the limo!

By the way, I just sent two pictures into the pirate zone, so eventually we should end up on the list . . . thanks for the reminder.

I thought YOU were going to be the one with the shovel and bucket!:lmao:

And by the way, when the guys with the shovels and buckets come behind the horses in our Macy's Thanksgiving day parade here in NYC, they always get thunderous applause!

Yes, more often than not they wave and bow, accepting the accolades while rolling along their rubbish cans and holding their scoopers -- if they actually have to scoop something the applause gets even louder, of course . . .

That wine tasting was fun! I have tried to keep in practice! :rotfl: I think we just might have to wait for the 2009. Did anyone put their name on the list for a call for 2009? We did and when they called us they asked if they were doing anything other than Caribbean did we want called and I said, "No". Still have not heard anything, but she indicated Caribbean was the itinerary of choice for 2009, but who knows. It will probably come out while we are in Florida!!

Is anyone doing the DVC Member Cruise? We did one and it was fun, but four days is too short! The gifts were nice!:cutie:

We plan to do the 2009 and we are "on the list!"popcorn::

Hi to everyone who is thinking of meeting up here in NYC on Saturday, Dec. 8. As I began to think about making plans, I thought it would be best to get some input regarding what you have in mind. I am going to suggest a few scenarios and a few places to eat in various price ranges, and then for privacy's sake I would like you to PM me with your preferences. Also let me know if anything would make you choose not to come in if we did it!

First question: lunch followed by walking around midtown or a meet somewhere in midtown followed by early dinner?

Second question: what price range for our eating place? My suggestions are: Rock Center Cafe (view of skating rink and tree, but expensive -- see menu and prices here: http://www.menupages.com/restaurant...eighborhoodid=0&cuisineid=4&restaurantid=4287)
OR
John's Pizzaria (44th St. across from Phantom, busy and don't take reservations but good and less expensive. See menu here: http://www.johnspizzerianyc.com/index2.htm)
OR
Burger Heaven (20 E. 49th just off Fifth near Rockefeller Center, also no reservations but relatively inexpensive. See menu here: http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7129169/new_york_ny/burger_heaven_49th_street.html#)

Finally, I thought either before or after eating we could take a group picture at the Rock Center tree. If we eat at John's we can walk through Times Square on the way there, the other two places are very close.

If none of these ideas appeals to you, let me know as well. Once I get some replies, we can set the plan and then let people RSVP as they figure out their plans.
Thx Julie (hectic weekend!), any of your ideas are good, the lunch, picture or early dinner, picture would be cool, we don't care where we go..............:cloud9:

However, I will wait to hear from MaryAnn and then put out one more request for suggestions, then will just plan it and post!
