Sorry for this topic...but i have to ask....does anyone know of anyone on our cruise that got really sick-like Norovirus-type sick after the cruise?

I am hoping i didn't get that but I have been sick since last sunday-went to the ER for an IV at one point-anyway, it's been a week and I am still sick so I am hoping i didn't catch a parasite-anyone know of anyone else? Thanks for your help!

Hi Gang,
Just checking in after another busy weekend. I had to come back to work just to get some rest. :)

If you saw the news we had a tropical storm here in the heartland on Sat-Sun. Amazing amount of rain in such a short time.

Wendy, thanks for the update on your family. Like everybody, we were shocked as well. Know that you are in our prayers.

Izzi, I'm sorry that you and the boys won't be able to make the '09 trip. But you're trading one celebration for another (actually two). You and Paul have two wonderful boys and they will make fine young men. You've done a spectacular job.

On the same note, thanks to MJ for posting pics. We had such a grand day with you guys in Naples. It was at the top of our list, too.

I have finally started to make some headway with my Apple software and successfully completed my first DVD with about 1100 pics from the trip. I'll try to pare that down to a reasonable number and produce a web-based movie that I'll share with all of you.

I'll also try to post some pics here Tue.

Have a great week, everybody.

Brian

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and condolences during this very difficult time for our family. My dad's death came as a shock as we believed he was on the road to recovery and would be back in the States in a few days.According to our dr. who read some of the medical reports, his injuries were more severe than we realized. My dad died doing what he loved- cruisung with his family and Disney. He was a very special person.

My son's wedding will go on as scheduled. It was what my dad would have wanted. It was a difficult decision for us to make. I'm hoping to leave for Fla. tomorrow or Tuesday.

My dad's body is still in Italy. We've been told it could be here tomorrow or Tuesday. My mom has decided to have the funeral after my son's wedding. Emotionally this will be difficult but it's what she wants.

As of now the wake will be Aug. 29 and the funeral will be Aug. 30.Plans should be finalized in the next couple of days.

We plan on leaving tomorow afternoon or Tuesday for my son's wedding. It will be bittersweet.

This disboard "ROMEancing the Mouse" family is a great comfort to me during this very difficult time. It means more to me than you'll ever know to read your posts and smile. Thank-you again.

Wendy,

I am so sorry to hear about your dad'd death. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time.
You can take some solice in knowing that he was doing what he loved to do, cruising but more importantly spending time with family.

I agree, I LOVED THIS EXCURSION, ESPECIALLY ERICI!! Overall, Italy was a jewel of a country!!! I can't wait to go back!! DCL in 2009???

How's the jetlag?? It seems like you had a really nice time w/ your kids as well!!!:goodvibes :thumbsup2

This turned out to be a very good trip for the three of us. It brought us closer. I finally was able to sleep a regular night last night. Of course, I was up before 6, but at least I did sleep "normal" hours. I loved Erice & could have spent longer exploring the town.

Unfortunately over this weekend we've had to cancel our April 2009 cruise due to a HUGE party we've now got to make in 2009.

Ok long story short. As we're Jewish both boys are going to be barmitzvahed. We had hoped that as there are only 22 months between them that they could both do it together however we've been advised that this would not be a good thing and so we've now got TWO barmitzvahs to do and the first one will be Joshua's in June/July 2009 so our reunion cruise is just not financially possible.

I hope loads of you can make it and you have one or two coffees in the Quiet Cove and think about us.

Congrats to Josh. This is such a special occasion that it's understandable that you'll be dedicating time & money to it. I am not sure we'll be able to do a cruise in 2009, but I've got hopes that we'll be able to meet up with you fellow DISers when time and $ permits -- either on a cruise, WDW, or DISNEYLAND (hint hint).

Hi Perdie. None of us fell ill, and I haven't heard of anyone else. Here's hoping that your illness is a simple one and that you soon recover.

We have tons of pics, as many of you do, too, but I'm sharing the ones that mostly include people/other DISers, in case you'd like them for your own. If you do, I have bigger versions & can upload the bigger pics for you to download to your computers. Just let me know ...

OLBIA, SARDINIA

We didn't get off the ship in Olbia, but took a few pics I wanted to share...

CITAVECCHIA -- ROME

Rome was another fantastic visit as we went on our excursion with Izzy & family (Paul, Josh, & Ethan), and Lisa & family (Dale & Alex)

In the room of tapestries, there were a couple that included illusions, like this one where Christ and the entry change perspective as you move past. (Those of us who have been to the Haunted Mansion can appreciate that - like the busts)

Izzy stands by a baptismal that Constantine had made out of red marble in Egypt. This marble no longer exists in the world.

Out in the city, Kelly refills her water bottle at a public city fountain. I wonder how old that fountain is, and what kind of fountain was there before that.

We had a delightful lunch at a local restaurant near the Parthenon.

Then we went to have some gelato. I wish I had had what Emmi ordered - two scoops coconut & passion fruit. She gave me a taste & they were so refreshing!

The appearance of Sallie, Jimmy, & Carley at the Trevi Fountain was made in an unforgettable way. I don't think our guide, Emmi, will ever forget, either!

hi there

five out of the seven of us who went on the cruise were ill either during or straight - i myself was very sick the 2nd night and things didn't really settle down until we came home. my mother-in-law became ill on the 4th day and my 6 year old son also became ill (we spent 2 days in our stateroom!).

on return both my daughter and niece became ill - our doctor said that my daughters was an inflamation of the intestines? and would pass (she is now better 8 days later)

hope you feel better soon

Great pictures everyone - my DH took 2100 photos - and that is not like him at all! He's still organizing them. He's also waiting for an online sale to get some developed!

I'm so sorry about your father, Wendy. It seemed like things were going well, what a shock. I hope you'll be able to enjoy your son's wedding. It will be a good time to share stories with family.

None of us got sick. We were doing shots of Air Borne from the states and then back home again too. We also used Melatonin to help get our sleep habits in check - really seemed to help. I do still seem to hit a wall at 6:00 or 7:00 each evening - but it's getting better.

I read Brian's blog - loved it. Can't wait to read the others. I wrote up a 4 page 'summary' to e-mail to some friends - I guess it is the 21st century version of a vacation slide show!

Just checking in..

We know some other DISers are on this flight so hopefully we'll meet up.

Jeff

We had such a nice brunch on our second sea day. Thank you, Lisa, for arranging it!

There were so many on the ship I would have loved to have seen & visited with. We always thought that there would be so much time, especially on the sea days, but time sure did rush by.

Speaking of Penny, I heard that the hurricane won't hit the Cayman Islands so hard & I am glad for Penny & her family.

JoAnn, just let me know when you guys are coming out! We'd love to see you. :cool1:

Wendy, Please accept our sympathy at the loss of your dad. We were sad to hear that he didn't recover. You and your family continue to be in our prayers. The wedding will be bittersweet. I do hope you can enjoy the day in spite of the circumstances. Your dad will be with you in spirit and in your hearts and memories.

I've been away for the past week. I took Lilly and her friend to Canada to visit my great-aunt who is 91 and a cousin I'm very close to who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. While I enjoyed seeing them both very much it has been a very draining week. Also, Gerry couldn't come as he has had to make up a lot of work due to the trip to the Med so I had to do the driving myself.

The pictures were great to remind me of the great time we had in the Med. THAnk you all for posting them.

MaryJo, could you please send me a copy of the brunch photo. I didn't get one and would like a copy.

Anyone who was at the private dinner with us, Susy, Kathy, Sallie, Julie, Lisa, if you got a picture please post it or send it to me somehow we didn't get a copy of that one either and we had a wonderful time. We looked for the Shutters picture but it was already gone by the time we got there.

Please let us know the Itinerary or dates selected for the 2009 trip. We'd love to go. We have cancelled the RCCL cruise for next Feb and booked the Disney Eastern Carib. for Feb 16. With the discount and obc offered it was actually quite a bit less than the RCCL cruise was going to be. We'll give it to the kids for Christmas.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make this the most fantastic trip ever.

Sandra
