We are flying out of Pittsburgh on the 26th. We fly into JFK and then to Barcelona. How about you?

Looks like everyone is going to bed early, but I can't do that! Fireworks are about to begin, and you know what Princess Jasmine will do ! We are having Community Days and tonight is the end with a big fireworks show. We decided not to go because we did not want to leave her home alone in fear. I think I will sit with her on the back porch and we can probably see them, although I know dogs don't see color, but if I hold her as they go off maybe she will understand that they will not hurt her and by next fourth of July she will be a "normal" dog! It's worth a try!

Well now I can go to bed as Princess Jasmine sat on my lap for over half an hour of fireworks and a grand finalle of blasts like you never heard and she never moved at all. Maybe we have outgrown the fear of the fireworks! Is it possible??

I have been "tossing aside" items that I need for the cruise. I just noticed that my pile is the size of a suitcase, yet doesn't even include any clothing - I am in big trouble. Anyone else finding this problem??
We leave one week from tomorrow - plane takes off at 6:30 a.m. - I can't wait, yet I don't think I have enough time to be ready. I have been spending so much time on these boards and rethinking cruise things that I have totally ignored the rest of our trip - Barcelona, Paris and Amsterdam, now I am stressing about that!!!

We just had the 4th of July fireworks. My oldest and sister live right on the beach where anarchy rules that night. Very scary for my sister (she worries the house will burn down) so I went over with my dog to keep her company until the police chased everyone away around 11PM. Thankfully, we discovered the secret to curing dogs of their fear of fireworks - Hot Dogs and BBQ Chicken! My dog is such a food hog that all she could focus on was the food and I don't think she noticed the fireworks at all, even though they were going off all around her. Could have also been the two cats she was fascinated with as well. Good luck!

Oh I forgot to mention - Sallie - love your Keifer picture! I really enjoy his beard look for some reason. Handsome, rugged, blonde?

I should add also, I work in retail. Every Tuesday there are usually new DVD Movie releases - same goes for books. We usually have them in about 1 week before. They are not allowed to be on the floor. They would receive a serious violation if it sold before release date - however if you have an inside connection? No, no, I would not risk my job - but I would be tempted tell/ask the clerk the same thing If I were in a similar situtation and my kids would be mortified (even though I was just playing around).

Andrew, I think you owe it to everyone you have lured to your hotel to dress up like Mickey yourself and do a character greet over breakfast -- be sure to let me know when so that I can show up and stifle my laughter . . .

Don't forget the camera! We really need a Mickey with a camera icon!

Now that would be fun! Maybe we should save it for the Dismeet two weeks from now, though, so that everyone can observe the mayhem . . .

I am currently at the airport in San Antonio, Texas, having spent the weekend with my cousins. I was so stressed out on Friday I almost canceled, but my ds convinced me that I should really go.

Friday did not turn out the way I had hoped, and still no passport, but with Providence we will get it. I'll post more details on the thread, but it turned out that the passport was processed in Washington DC, and the agency in Los Angeles will only take us 48 hours before our travel date. So, we have to wait until the 21st (Saturday) to see if his passport arrives, and only then can we schedule an appointment, and he should get it on Monday. We fly out on Tuesday.

Oh - we're being told that because of lightening in the area, we might be delayed in flying out.

I'll try to post, but will have to stop if they start boarding us right now.

Oh NO! and MJ!

I find it ironic (and maybe a bit frustrating) that Verizon sells an intetnational phone card for a decent price and yet my Verizon phone won't work anywhere in Europe. Especially since we asked before we signed up for this service if we would be able to use it in Europe and were assured it would be no problem.

Sandra we had the same trouble. After 2 weeks of trying to figure out this is what we came up with:

1. You must have an approved account.
2. Type of account must have the rating of A or B. (We've had Verizon for over 3 yrs. We were rated at E or F got upgraded by the corporate-in-store rep to a G. Then were promptly denied upgrading again due to just getting upgraded which we DID NOT ask the girl to have done for us. She took it upon herself to do it w/o informing us first. Oh Yeah - and on getting upgraded - once you do - you apparently have to be at that upgrade level for anywhere from 6 months to 1 year before requesting another one.
3. The next day, DH called and was on hold for over 3 hrs. Turns out they will not even SELL us the 930 which is one of the only phones to have international service - gsm and quad-band rated because we do not qualify.
4. Had we been allowed to buy it as we were going to on the day we were in the store - Over $600 for the phone - we would not be able to use it due to not having the rating. (Thank God for the girl upsetting DH - he made her take it back off and therefore saved some $$ - which I promptly used up later )


I just don't understand Verizon or these phone companies. If someone wants to be able to buy a product, shouldn't we be allowed to do so? Its our $$$ - what happened to good old fashion Capitalism? I was so upset with them after these stupidity on their part that I told DH to just cancel them.

I can't believe they advertise that they have international service and then don't allow perspective customers to buy. I'm sure they have good reasons for this but someone please explain this one to me? I just don't get it!

ERGO - the reason that DH broke down and got me the iPhone which I still haven't loaded up with iTunes. Everytime I go to do it, - I get sidetracked!

We have a 5 year old son? Any potential friends for him out there. Our first DC was the 2005 Inaugural Mexican Riviera cruise. Our son made 2 friends immediately, and what a difference it made. On our last cruise, 3-11-06 West Caribbean, he didn't seem to connect with anyone like the first cruise.
I have a question, almost afraid to ask..... What is a 'fish extender'?

Just jump in and ask an question and before you discover - keep in mind that since your fairly new - you may not post a private message to anyone until you have passed 10 posts. Just want to inform you so that you don't waste lots of time trying to figure out why you keep getting blocked from sending a private message. This is the most updated list of participants. We are assigning days for deliveries. If you have a request please PM me and I'll work out the schedule by Friday. Is everyone OK with the idea of closing the Fish Extender gift swap as of Friday, 7/20? I know people don't want to run out of gifts to deliver but at the same time want to get their shopping and packing done. If anyone is leaving before Friday let me know and I could pull the date back. I'm open to any suggestions.

Lisa, I just spent some time looking and couldn't figure out when we had been talking about it -- "Dis" time seems to have no relationship to real time and I can't get a grip on how long ago it was. However, I would never cancel a cruise based on a few other people -- they are big ships and I believe you can have as much or as little contact with others as you choose (and have a great time regardless).

I just caught up and realized we talked about it from someplace from page 887 to 917 and then again from 917 - to about 925. It was discussed on a couple of days while I was offline - I was offline from Thurs to Sat nite.

But Julie is right - big ship - no one says you have to hang with them. I always say - if you don't like someone - get up and move to another part of the ship. But if you stay away from Rocking Bar D you should be safe! Sides - we'd miss you if you didn't come - you did both of the previous ones right? And the EB has Cartegena which is new so don't miss that one - if I come across the pages - I'll post them too.

I have a special request. My sister, my brother in law and my nephew were all going to be traveling with you on the crusie. In May my sister was found to have a brain tumor and she had to cancel her trip. She is home recuperating but unfortunately she will not be able to do the cruise. She reads the threads all the time and I thought it would be great if anyone and everyone can give her a trip report and maybe some pictures. I know she would love that, I am so sorry you all will not be able to meet her she is an incredible person, but maybe next time. Her name is Miriam
