Hi,
I just found this site and chat area.
Is everyone here going on the 7-28 Med cruise?
We have a 5 year old son? Any potential friends for him out there. Our first DC was the 2005 Inaugural Mexican Riviera cruise. Our son made 2 friends immediately, and what a difference it made. On our last cruise, 3-11-06 West Caribbean, he didn't seem to connect with anyone like the first cruise.
I have a question, almost afraid to ask..... What is a 'fish extender'?

Yeah, they keep turning up. Strangest thing though - sometimes I have these nightmares that I'm really someone else... some guy named Jason Bourne... very strange.



Cel phone plans are developed by the same people who design airplane fares and train schedules. The are incomprehensible. No surprise that the people selling the phones/plans don't comprehend them either.

But soem things will never change, I wish everyplace was like Disney, if you don't like the answer you get from the first Customer Service rep you talk to just keep calling back until you either get the answere you like or a consensus that equals the right answer.

Yes, we are all on the July 28 cruise. A fish extender is a kind of hanging wall organizer with pockets that some people hand on the little "fish" outside their cabin -- it allows others to leave you notes, presents, etc.

This is only our 3rd cruise. I see a lot of you have waaaaaaay more cruises under your belt.

The fish extender is done!!!

Here are some photos. I'll write out a pattern and post it later.

* Decorate doors with artwork, images, etc., that will make your stateroom unique. No tape, however, doors are metal, so magnetic sheets are fine. Eeyorelvr10 had idea to have a plastic sleeve protector & attach magnets to it, then just put your decorated sheet of paper in it. MrsJobba1 is going to laminate hers. Some have shared their creations on this thread.
* Fish extenders outside staterooms
* Small, nominal gifts for fish extenders (optional & gifts can be anything - just for fun)

Here are a couple of samples what a fish extender looks like. Some people have been able to find these at the local dollar store, some people are making them. I got a couple of 6" canvas bags that I'm going to attach one on top of the other & we'll decorate & hang from the fish outside the stateroom door. (Different, but I couldn't find anything like the pics below & I'm not very creative)

Oh I am sorry. I did not mean I would cancel because of anyone. We have been thinking 4 weeks vacation next summer (and a Thanksgiving cruise as well) may just be too much.

My beloved niece (the doctor I brag about) just announced she is getting married in Sept or Oct.

Did Andy or Lisa cancel? I had helped Andy book the cruise and I really like Lisa, her DH graduated from VA Tech and we talked a lot during the April 16th time frame. I scanned the thread and the only thing I noticed was lots of VA Tech people....!!

Yes, Andy is not going although he still posts; Lisa may or may not be going, but I know for sure she is not participating on the thread; others have canceled the cruise as well. A lot of hard feelings and honestly I'm not sure what is behind all of it -- Andrew seemed to know a lot more but I'd rather not, honestly.

In May my sister was found to have a brain tumor and she had to cancel her trip. She is home recuperating but unfortunately she will not be able to do the cruise. She reads the threads all the time and I thought it would be great if anyone and everyone can give her a trip report and maybe some pictures. I know she would love that, I am so sorry you all will not be able to meet her she is an incredible person, but maybe next time. Her name is Miriam

Ok, since this group knows everything....( I am not being sarcastic!!! Really...) Where is the best place to get an IPOD?? I want one with alot of memory. If online, I would need to get it by Friday. My son says we will not have any trouble downloading movies etc to it. (I am technically challenged. ) Will we? (Have trouble or is it relatively easy?)

I have purchased several at Costco - cheapest price I've found.

We have always had late dinner and never had a long wait for pictures. Try to get there just before the early seating goes in to the dining room and you can get a picture and then go to the show. Our pictures have always been 8x10 vertical. Hope this helps.

Actually, based on what I've been reading, I'm glad they don't have unlimited. They've been having really slow connection speeds. With unlimited not only are you competing with everyone willing to pay .30/minute, you'd be competing with every teen who is trying to download the latest bootleg video release as well. Until they add some overall bandwidth to the ship, anything that reduces casual use of the Internet is good for those who have to have connectivity for more serious use.

So funny, I started reading this post without seeing who it was from and I knew right away it was from Dan!

I find it ironic (and maybe a bit frustrating) that Verizon sells an intetnational phone card for a decent price and yet my Verizon phone won't work anywhere in Europe. Especially since we asked before we signed up for this service if we would be able to use it in Europe and were assured it would be no problem.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's illness. I pray her recovery will be complete. There are already blogs started by some members of this thread. I'm sure they will be posted again. IN the meantime I will try to find the post that lists them. Hopefully she will be able to cruise with DCL and maybe some of us at a later time.

I'm sorry, PM means private message. After you have posted 10 times, (Look at the number under your name in the box on the left) you can click on someones name and it will bring you to a private message screen, sort of like email. Here are your gift bag matches. Gift bags items should total anywhere from 15-20 dollars. The gifts do not have to be Disney or location specific, but many are leaning toward something highlighting their geographic location- but anything will be great!.
The kids will also swap at the DIS meet on Sunday morning with the parents. It should be a lot of fun! If you are not planning to be at the meet- or if for some reason you cant make it- you can arrange a mini swap with your match at anytime!!!

OK, I'll explain -- at posts ending in "00" you are said to have a mini pirate; postings ending in 500 or 1000 are considered major pirates and Andrew UK has been keeping track of all the pirates . . . because there is a rule that you can't repost for 40 seconds, it can be hard to time it, plus sometimes there is a flurry of postings, making it even harder.

There should be a newbie FYI post with all this type of info- I was so lost when I first came on- I had no idea what any of abbreviations meant except LOL !

But you will all learn fast- its a great place and I too welcome all of you!!!! We ae going to have a blast.......
