Yes Brian I am serious- Can someone else from UK confirm this too - I would hate to give out wrong info.

Max weight limit in Europe for 1 bag is 32kg (regardless of baggage allowance) this is due to health and saftey laws.

You're absolutely right Helen, no individual bag can weigh more than 32kg. If your airline allows a greater baggage allowance then it must be split into more than 1 bag.

His daughter goes to my girls' school . . . but I definitely haven't gone up at a school event and done a routine for him . . .:goodvibes

You had me confused. For a moment I thought you meant that MJ's daughter went there. I think my synapsis aren't firing on all cylinders today.

Well, I am very glad I found that out here from you guys. Thanks. See, I'm not just frittering away my time here.

"Viva – Barcelona”

Um.....sounds nice, although not 100% sure what gaviota means - have an idea but the bells ringing (suenan las campamas) and Barcelona - open your arms to the world - sounds A-OK to me! :thumbsup2

YES - OPEN THEM WIDE - greet us with chiming bells - can you all picture it now? :cloud9:

Not sure myself, but those are the words that came up when I searched the lyrics for Queen's "Barcelona"! My 15 year old who is good at Spanish isn't here this week, so I can't ask her if that makes any sense or not . . . just did a quick search and it looks like it's seagull . . .

As we begin the final count down I want to say how much fun I have had, and I hope we will continue to have. I found this poem and thought it spoke of all of us.. To all my cyber friends: Its been so much fun, and so very informative. Thanks!!!!

:grouphug: THE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS:grouphug:

We meet on-line to have a great time....
We laugh and we giggle and smile at our screens,
We sit back and wonder what this all means.
:grouphug:
We surf the Web, we travel afar,
We span thousands of mile without a car.
We watch conversations flowing on the screen,
We tell jokes and stories and know what they mean.
:grouphug:
What are we looking for? Where's the attraction?
How can we do this and get satisfaction?
Who are we? Why are we here?
:grouphug:
We are "the Circle of Friends", made from a chain.
And we're here because friendship is what we gain!
Born on-line formed by few,
We had no idea just what to do.
:grouphug:
So we are linking our pages, first one then two,
And wonder where we'll end up when we are through?
The Circle will spread, like a wild vine,
It will breathe and whisper like the winds of time.
:grouphug:
We are the Circle of Friends, made from a chain,
All of our motives are exactly the same.

:grouphug:

How sweet! Thank you.

There is this advert with a old Britsh bulldog and my son now repeats this all day, would you like a quote.

Ok, I converted from kg to lb and it comes out to 70.55 lb. That makes sense. I think weight limit for any checked bag is just over 50 lb. So, we're good.

Why can't we just have one system of measurement?

Wow -- that would be terrible, but there's no way anyone having to do with MJ could go there . . . some were surprised Seinfeld's daughter got in.

We should be on metric, should have been years ago . . . yes, it would be confusing for some for a while, but everyone would adjust.

You can do a demonstration for me (complete with bulldog mask -- or don't you need one?) on the ship . . .

Andrew, just in case this comment could be misinterpreted, I really love bulldogs and think they are adorable . . .

So...

:) JoAnn:lmao:

congrats on lots of interesting contributions and decorating them with a little fluff- very thoughtful :rotfl: blog looks good- I keep checking them even though I know they won't be changing yet- what's that all about? :surfweb: :confused3

Your weekend sounds like it was great fun- not seen MP but would love to. This weekend going to see Peter Gabriel- if I get the chance to have few minutes with him I'll let him know to expect a few dozen dissers for tea on the day we're in Sardinia. :woohoo: He shall know us by the sign of the propeller.......:rolleyes1

Also....congrats on receiving t-shirts- any chance of a pic??

See you next week :flower3:
Thx very much for the support!!

I will try to take a picture of my Tshirt and post it later!!

I think the main reason it didn't go metric is that the teacher's didn't know it. No one bothered to teach the teachers, so when some of them did try to teach it to the kids in school, they were all mixed up so the kids didn't learn it properly and eventually it was dropped. My DD was in the middle of this. She's still confused with metric and can't do standard either because they had stopped teaching that. Oh well.

That's interesting, Maryann. I didn't realize that was what happened.

Metric is easy it's just all done in 10's, 100's, and 1000's. Really it's only when you try to start converting backwards and forwards lbs <-> kgs that it gets confusing.

Just checked with Iberia (flights originating or to a destination in US) 51 lbs or 23 kg per piece, max of two pieces each person.

Never know you to 'correct' yourself, does that mean you think I am adorable, or just if I say

Most in Europe are now 23kg or lower, Helen was correct earlier, due to health and safety rules, max 32kg.

That's what I was always told, Izzi. And yes it is easier. The problem is that we didn't grow up with it so to us it can be very confusing. I have to teach it in Science (everything is calculated in metric) but I second guess myself sometimes. I often think of the poor NASA employee who forgot to convert feet to meters and because of him one of the Mars landers crashed on the surface - a few billion dollars of rubble!

I agree. Universities should teach the future teachers first, we should then be teaching the little ones in grade school, and we absolutely should be all metric all over the world! (I'll get off my soapbox now....)
:rolleyes1
