Thanks for help Mary Jo

Thx for continuing to keep us on here, pirating each other like crazy....sort of a Disney idea, with a cruel, evil twist.....I really need a pirate name for post 7000 (so that I can take the Kiera Twice Nightly name off!).....perhaps something more Disney....any ideas!!:cool2:

I am getting sleepy, but it would be nice to get a pirate for a changepirate:

I've been reading on the various blogs and Dis threads about excursions, and it occured to me that it's very important to consider one's own priorities in evaluating which ones to take.

Some things are clear:

  • Full day excursions are exhausitng no matter how you do it.
  • You can save money and potentially do more if you plan/reserve things on your own.
That said, I'm sticking with my DCL excursions (though I did make one switch based on the reports to date). But that's because my priorities are possibly different from that of others.
  1. I'm not trying to see as much as possible. Though this is my first visit to each of these ports, I've traveled enough to know that I can come back. The purpose of the excursions is to get a quick taste/survey of each place to help me decide which ones I want to come back to one day.
  2. I'm on vacation. If it's "exhausting" it's the wrong choice for me. So with the exception of Rome, none of the excursions are full day.
  3. I'm on vacation. If it's stressful, it's the wrong choice for me. That means I want to make as few decisions as possible - I want someone to tell me where to go and describe to me what I'm seeing in as entertaining a manner as possible. I want to know that if the bus breaks down on the way back, somebody else will be worrying about how to get me back to the ship on time.
I know I'm going to miss seeing a lot, and miss a lot of great experiences. At the same time, I figure an hour nap on deck is arguably equal to seeing yet another 500 year old cathedral.

My point in this, is I think in evaluating excursion choices, it's important to first set ones own priorities. "Best choice" really depends on one's individual perspective.

Well said, Dan. As this is our first trip to Europe, we want to see a little bit of everything and then choose where to return.

I agree with your statements.....if we love it, we'll be back....DCL is building two more ships.....:cool1:

CONGRATULATIONS MARYANN and good night all!!!

Thanks Harole Ann! I was helping DS & DH connect a wireless print server when I noticed we were close to a pirate: . They started to get annoyed with me as I was supposed to be reading directions to them on another screen and they had to wait!:rotfl: :rotfl: Then I got all excited that I got a pirate: , and they both :sad2: :sad2: .

Good night

Maryann

I think it would be a great idea, but the hardest part is going to be finding a time that everyone has free---not at brunch, spa, etc..It will be a really large group, but a wonderful momento.pirate:
I still have my last DIS photo on my refrigerator...wonderful memories!!

Our group also made plans throughout the week to meet at Rockin' Bar D to watch the comedians and enjoy the theme nights.....we shared many laughs and kept in touch after the trip (and planned this cruise,also!):thumbsup2

Hey everyone - my youngest son had a double header tonite - my DH and I left after the 1st game. It is our 19th anniversary - we went out to dinner!! My DD 16 offered to go to her brother's game and get him home - yea!! I'm sure she's looking for brownie points - probably wants to go shopping or something!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: But, we took her up on it!

Harole Ann,

Cheese fries count as dinner as far as I'm concerned:thumbsup2

Protein, carbohydrates, vegetable - works for me!!

Well put. We decided what was important to us and chose that way. We'll never see everything and we don't want to be too exhausted. Besides, our kids are getting older and we'll be able to go back, just the 2 of us - much cheaper that way!!:cool1:  :rotfl2: :cool1:  :rotfl2:

BASEBALL NEWS!!!
congratulations!! I love baseball/fastpitch season!!

pirate: ?
Maryann

Way to go getting that pirate!!

HI everyone - checking in - just wanted to let everyone know that I finally got off my but and did some housecleaning. I finally vacummed the stairs which took me over an hour and now my back is killing me. I feel like Quasimodo must have felt every day. I'm even waddling!

However, I feel proud of myself, dusted & mopped the entry way, sweep my entire kitchen and living room (my kitchen can easily fit over 32 people standing up - and probably more - that's just what it fit last year at DH's b-day. If he'd had more friends - they probably would have fit too!) Cleaned all the downstairs bathrooms except for the pool bathroom - mopped them too and even got down on my hands and knees and used a toothbrush to scrub the caulking. I finally made it to storage and put some stuff away for my "yard sale" I'm gong to have someday! :lmao: and even deep cleaned my furniture and polished it too. Not to mention the dishes in the sink and even managed to vacuum the upstairs pool room and library. And I even moved the furniture too! I'm proud - I accomplished all this in 4 hrs. The house is far from finished but at least I can feel like I accomplished something. Now, if I can only get the maid fairy to come and help me out. I would be so happy! My hands hurt and tomorrow I have a gym appt. HHHMMMM...wonder if I can get someone to go in my place? I was pretty bad this weekend.

Well, I'll just blame it on DD's graduation. Ok - back to work - I'm thinking I can go through some boxes and throw some stuff out. Better take advantage while I'm in the mood to clean. It doesn't happen that often! ;)

Lanyard Status 6/11:
Last Call for Orders - I'm really, really am ordering this Wednesday.
I got the badge holder samples and it looks like we can go with the vertical or horizontal holders. Both are fine. The vertical doesn't attach the same as the other but it will be fine. So I will be ordering the vertical badge holder just cause I have a paranoia that the key card could possibly fall out of the horizontal one. Disneylover, its item #370 on the kenny product site. Its 2.5x4" big.

ORDER INFORMATION:
Cost will be $2.63 per lanyard which includes a badge holder
Add $1 for each reel. Let me know if you want black or red reels. If you don't say, it will be black.
Total for a lanyard with reel is $3.63.

Payment: I can take paypal payments (basic account, not the premier account) at kylarice at worldnet.att.net. If you don't have paypal, I will take a check. For the UK people who don't have paypal, just pay when you pick up your lanyards, under the table please. Please pm me for my address to pay by check. Please include your DIS forum name with any payment, so I know who you are.

Lanyard Design Options (by formerCPer)

Design E is the Winner!

It comes with a badge holder: http://www.kennyproducts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KPI&Product_Code=370
To add a badge reel http://www.kennyproducts.com/Mercha...en=PROD&Store_Code=KPI&Product_Code=425-blank, will be another $1 per badge reel.
I was thinking of ordering once I get everyone's payment and bringing them to Barcelona or the DIS meetup to pass out.

I posted this on the previous page, but in case you haven't seen. Some people were confused on how things attach together. Hopefully, this will clear it up:
113321pic1-thumb.jpg
Here is the lanyard with the badge holder (except ours will be vertical)
113321424_front-thumb.jpg
Here is the lanyard with badge reel (except ours will come as two pieces: a lanyard with J hook (as shown in the above pic). Each badge reels has a belt clip in back. The J hook hooks on the belt clip of the badge reel. See the little tab on the badge reel? That will snap onto the top of the badge holder. The badge holder will hold your Key to the World card. The badge reel is not heavy duty. It is a light string and is made to hold the weight of your badge holder.

Hi, I agree with what you say.

This is what I've done from day one.

Dh and I decided on 5 excusions. All of them bar 1 are 4-5 hrs long. The one that is a whole day excursion is the Italian Island (Naples port). In the PM of this excursion you are at a natuarl spa with volcanic pools -very relaxing, therefore its not really a heavy day.

I have to be careful with my back not to overdo it.

From day 1 we also decided that we wouldn't leave the ship @ civitavecchia - Rome was just too far away from the port. I can not sit in the same position for long periods of time (No long coach trips). Luckily we are not too far away (UK) so that we can go to Rome for a city break in the future.

I think you have to remember that its your holiday -and you do exactly what you want to do

Sorry, Helen....I'm having a day like this too! Just 4 more days of school, but things are not good right now with our staff....too many changes and too many unhappy staff members....it's bringing me down....this thread is keeping me alive!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Joann:grouphug:
