Ok - I'm really trying to get off this board - but DH is picking up DS's prescription before we leave so I have a few minutes.

Disneyspirit/Tom - remembered you said that you've been to many of the DL parks - we just discussed ways of beating jetlag. Do you have any recommendations? Several have been discussed here as some of us are coming from the West Coast. Those have ranged from avoiding alchohol, bringing eye patches, reducing sound earphones to taking melatonin I think.

As a veteran flyer - do you have any more suggestions

Oh yeah another ?? for everyone - have we discussed fish extenders? Is anyone taking theirs? Just wondering. Someone from our other thread posted a link to some pictures from the 11 Night in Sept and he managed to catch some wonderful shots of fish extenders and door decorations. I'll ask him to post a link here so that those interested can see what all these creative people can do - We can even have a door decorating contest like they did - I was truly :sad2: as I didn't get a chance to decorate my fish extender - but that's ok - I got a consolation prize - the brown ****y award! That's what the paper said! :rotfl:

Thanks - I might try signing on as we are zipping along the 101 hwy to SB & Solvang - DD is coming with us but oh well. Now hope the older two take care of my girls! (They will - we all take turns yelling at each other when they are left outside for more than 2 hrs.) Did I tell you they are spoiled rotten? :)

Great job!!

Not sure if chatterer is a real word or not for some one who is chatty?

OK, this is Tom (DisneySpirit) DW Lynn uses her computer mostly for email and research. I am usually more of a lurker on Disboards to date but try and read as many messages on DCL as I can. We discovered DIS on the Westbound PC cruise. They all had these Mickey hand signs for waving at people in the ports we were visiting!

By accident I stopped by Preludes during a DIS trivia contest and was invited to join in. Well, I won! I received a very nice WDW boxed pin set for a prize. I was afraid to tell them I had been a part time Disney Store CM from 1993-2000 and had represented my store in the Disney Store's National Triva Contest for several years in a row. As I've grown older I still know alot of Disney Trivia, but I just can't access the answers as quickly as I used to!

I still have lots of CM friends who moved around the Disney Company as their careers changed. I get to visit with them when we are at Disneyland every other month (We have APs) or at WDW in FL. We even took a DL CM friend on 2 DCL sailings with us because she has done many magical things for us through the years and is just a wonderful friend. (ie: Club 33 Dinners at DL)

We have been DVC members at OKW since 1992 and just recently added more points from AKL Villas. We trade for cruises a lot! The EB PC in 2008 will be our 10th Disney Cruise.

We have been to every Disney theme park except HKDL. Our favorite is TDS in Japan.

My wife and I are confirmed Disneyholics and collectors.

There is one room in our house we call "the Museum" it is so full of Star Trek, Beatles, and Disney paraphernalia that we currently can't get in there! My latest project is putting together the Robert Olszewsky minature train platform of Disneylands Main Street USA. This has become a very expensive hobby. I also am an avid pin collector with over 2755 pins. ( DisneySpirit on PinPics)

We have no kids (that would be reduntant) but, have 3 Siberian Huskies. Yes, I know we live in the desert! They are indoor dogs!

I have repaired computers of all kinds since 1975. I have worked for Honeywell Info Systems, Motorola Semiconductor, and now for Freescale Semiconductor. I was a music major for a few years in college but turned to digital electronics when the computer job boom hit in the 1970s. DW is a dance teacher and has been a charter schoool administrator. She is currently tutoring at a learning center. I was born in NJ but moved to AZ in 1979. DW was born in CT and moved here in 1980. We met as Star Trek Fandom penpals and later at the NYC ST conventions of the 1970s.

I played in a rock band all during HS and College. (guitar, keyboards, and alto sax) I am a huge Beatles and Beach Boys fan. (DW likes Neil Diamond) I still play my George Harrison style Gretsch guitar and my Yamaha keyboards for recreation just not in a band anymore.

Man, this talking about your self stuff is hard!

OK, someone requested pictures let's see.... Ok, I don't know how to do that! (yet!)

DisneySpirit (Tom)
Welcome Tom & Lynn...really tough w/e for u

Here Isis (B&W) is afraid of the pool but loves the ocean - while GDog loves the pool but hates the ocean. Go figure!
IMG_1551.jpg

Ok I'm getting the looks again:

Tom/Lynn - we are all just learning about pirate: and multi-quoting and tags so if you have any  - just write them in - we're all friendly and someone is bound to answer. Oh yeah - we have several teachers onboard so they're handy to have around. ;)

Great pics of your pooches! They're beautiful.

Oh, and we learn the best tricks from the teachers, methinks.

OK - just thought I'd drop this in so that we know where we stand: We must band together and catch up to Andrew and Helen! (Sorry Lynn!) :rotfl:

I've been to Europe a few times. We usually leave early in the morning and arrive early the next morning. Even if I don't sleep on a plane, I doze, or just rest my eyes. Usually, I take a book until I get sleepy on the plane. My usual MO is to check in a hotel, and walk around, getting used to the atmosphere, and then returning at siesta time to take a small nap (2 hours at the most). We go to bed the regular time, and get up the next morning at a decent hour. It seems to work for us. The last time we went to Spain, we didn't have a hotel to check into (my cousins were supposed to come pick us up, but were having car trouble). The kids & I were so tired we went to a place called Plaza de España that has a grassy/parklike area. We laid down to take a nap right there on the grass. When I got up, I realized that my knee had been resting right on some dog doo -- okay, that's gross, but there I was walking around Madrid with a stain on my pants leg the first day we were there. The sympathy I got from my kids? They laughed at me. :sad2:

Oh yeah another ?? for everyone - have we discussed fish extenders? Is anyone taking theirs? Just wondering. I have no idea what these fish extenders are. I was asking someone, and they tried to explain, but pictures would be sooo welcome!

Thanks - I might try signing on as we are zipping along the 101 hwy to SB & Solvang -

I haven't been to Solvang in ages! I think a trip is about due. Did you stop by the Madonna Inn, also?

OK, we're just back from seeing the Gwen Stefani concert at the Borgata in Atlantic City, NJ....great concert..........I highly recommend it!

That must have been so much fun! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Great summary! Helen & Andrew won't feel as if they've missed a thing. ;) (Yeah, riiiigggghhht)

YIPPEE!! I got another tag!!!!

All this silly stuff must be "affecting" my brain!!

Congratulations! I always do the Hilary Duff squeal when one of those rascally TFs get me. lol

we are cruising too. generally don't post much but i have been reading what everyone is saying. me - 43, husband 43, daughter 11, son 14 and coolest mother-in-law in the world - no age necessary! The girls are in 6088 and the boys are slumming it in 6087 across the hall (inside stateroom). we have tried and tried to get a cat 3 - booked when they opened the lines on the first day but apparently we didn't have enough pixie dust. guess we won't have to listen to deck parties and maintenance people pushing chairs around at 4 am. concierge rooms are right under the pools. hopefully they will fix this on the new ships.

Glad to have you join us! If you would like to post your excursions, Andrew can add you to the first page when he gets back. It's nice to know who will be going on the same excursions. :)

how many posts until i am a mouseketeer?

I believe you go from Earning Your Ears to Mouseketeer when you hit 75 posts.

There are quite a few of us who could not get Palo reservations even at the 90 day mark. We're hoping to get a reservation or on a waiting list on embarkation day.

I wasn't able to get Palos either, and would like to book one dinner or brunch with my rascals for the experience.

Never a dull moment around here....even w/o Andrew and Helen!!:rotfl2:
so true! Even with the recaps they will have a lot to catch up on.

DisneySpirit (Tom)

Welcome to the July 28-August 8 cruise Tom & Lynn! I was just talking about you guys this morning with a DCL castmember who reads the DIS and had read your post. So many people are sympathizing with the both of you. I'm glad you were able to get your passport. I think that it's through the really dark hours that the kindness of people really stands out. Still, I'm sorry you had to go through all of that distress.

One easy way to post pictures is to go to the DIS Community Photo Board
http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/index.php
You sign in the same way you do on the forums, and then click on the link to upload photos. Click on the browse button to find the picture on your computer, and then upload it. Once it is uploaded you right-click on the picture, get the properties & the url address.

To insert it in a post, type {img]urladdress[/img} but use [ ] not { } -- Hope that makes sense. It gets super easy with practice.

Ok Tom and Lynn - welcome aboard - I just talked DH into going to Solvang for the night -

Later all!

Have a great trip!!

My 7th grader is meeting his "girlfriend" to go see POC3 - oh, my baby is growing up (tear shedding smiley)

It goes quickly, doesn't it. :::sigh:::

THis is Leslie's evil twin Skippy posting, she has gone to go grade papers :lmao:

Errr, hi Skippy :rotfl2:

Hi just checking in. Don't have time to read everything. Hope the May 26th cruisers are reporting back. Thank goodness, you guys haven't been chatting up a storm, only 8 pages to catchup, later.

Ok, MaryJo, I got your payment. You overpaid? Did you just want lanyards or reels too? Please clarify your order.

Kyla, I just want the lanyards. I paid a little extra because the person who handles this type of stuff usually has to eat some of the cost, so I just wanted to help a little.

Seriously Tom & Lynn..........we are a lively, blimey, crazy bunch.....you are in good hands!!

Truer words haven't been spoken. :)

Lynn and Tom we need to tell you about Pirates too a game we play on the 00 and 000 posts
Oh wait did I just score one

Of course, that was a little sneaky -- to be expected :thumbsup2 Good job!

Well just got back from the party - the girl had fun but I will let you know tomorrow if my hearing comes back. Is it a sign that you;ve turned into your parents when the music is too loud?

Glad you had fun! I'm starting to feel that way about the roller coasters at Six Flags! lol

I copy and pasted this from the live thread a few minutes ago- flashing pins are another idea, we do have some from one of our disney vac.- if you have a flashing pin, or anything that glows that would be fine:dance3:

We have heard that there are only about 300 children onboard. We have also heard that we are pretty full. We missed the Welcome Aboard show because we were getting gifts ready to go out, but heard that at both shows Rachel said “How many of you are first time cruisers?”, “How many of you are Castaway Club members?” (We have over 1000) and finally “How many of you are DISboarders?”. Everyone was very impressed!

Dinner was the Welcome Aboard menu which was a little different than normal. We unfortunately had to miss dessert to catch the sailaway party. We’d have to say there wasn’t many changes to the party and most of the DISers I spoke to were not impressed. The best part about the party were the glow necklaces and bracelets and flashing pins (provided by a cruiser who did the crossing and this cruise (pins) and Dreams Unlimited Travel (glow necklaces). We did get glove shaped paddles to wave goodbye to Barcelona.

This sounds like so much fun!!

Mary Jo - the picture of your kids is great - look like they enjoy each other's company - I am hoping my kids will be that way as they get older.

Thank you - they have a pretty good relationship. My ds is constantly making my dd laugh at his comments. Crazy kids.

Hi Everyone. DisneySpirit here. We missed our cruise to the Med on 5/26 because of a lost passport while traveling to Barcelona. For the gorey details read our trip report for the current 5/26 Magic Med cruise. But, the good news is we will be joining all of you now instead. We don't know our room # as yet but have a Cat 6 guaranteed (Deluxe stateroom with verandah) We want to fly out a day earlier this time so could sure use some hotel suggestions for Barcelona.
Looking forward to meeting all of you!

DisneySpirit

Tom (56) Lynn (55)

I'm glad that after such a rocky start that things are working out for you.

Hey Mary Jo - I think that is so great - that your kids actually look like their enjoying themselves. What a great picture!

Now where are you? :)

In this picture we're in San Diego at an El Torito restaurant. We went there for Mom's Day with my x-SIL & her family. It was really nice.

Home is in Carson, about 15 minutes sw of the LAX Airport, 15 minutes north of San Pedro (where the Magic sails from when it's here on the West Coast), and 25 miles west of the Original magic Kingdom.

We went to see POTC-At Worlds End today - what an entertaining movie! I enjoyed it more than the 2nd movie. Lots of twists and plots. I actually teared up, mouth gaped open in total surprise in some scenes, and laughed out loud in others (I'm a good audience). My dd & I totally enjoyed it.

Hey! 2 months from tomorrow we'll be boarding the Magic!! :woohoo:

 all

Well made it to Solvang tonight by 10 pm. I am asking for some good wishes from my DIS family as we had something scary happen just before we left - everyone is fine family wise but emotionally that is another story. I'm just drained and have the onset of a migraine and I think its just due to nerves. When I feel a little better and I'm not :sad1: I'll post some more.

BTW, we checked into the Royal Scandanavian Inn and while the room was a little dirty (at 10 at night  ) I'm hoping by tomorrow things will turnaround. Lord knows I could definitely use some good news for a while. AND....if that doesn't happen - then I will definitely have a :drinking1: or maybe :drinking1: :drinking1: :guilty:

this is the first time ever I have joined a forum on anything, we have just booked to go on this cruise and we are all very excited. We went on the disney magic eastern carribean in 2005 it was fantastic and can't wait to do this one.
My name is Maria and my husband is Richard, we live in the uk and we have 3 daughters, harriet 11yrs, Phoebe 9yrs and Hermione 4yrs. I am with the JOHARDY party, It would be great if we could find some friends for them to chat to before we go. That way we may actually get them to go to the kids club.

looking forward to hearing from anyone,

looking forward to hearing from anyone,

Welcome Maria,

Yes more Brits I just knew this was going to be the Brits cruise, look at my tag.......... I'm Lynn and I'm sailing with hubby Keith, we live in Hampshire, Helen from Sunderland and Andrew from London are away for half term but they'll be pleased to chat when they are back, all of our information is on page one and if you make a post with your info Andrew will add it on his return.

I know what you mean about chatting to people on a forum but we've done it for all 4 of our cruises so far and it is great to have friends to talk to on board, and to party with in the evening, my husband thought it was weird the first time but now one of his best friends is someone I met on these boards it doesn't matter that they live thousands of miles away they just really clicked

Welcome aboard Tom & Lynn! Love those dogs!
We are staying at the Grand Marina and coming in one day early. Sorry about your original plans, but I know you will have a wonderful cruise and we look forward to meeting you!

Harole Anne would you still like to meet at the Grand Marina for a drink on the Friday?

Lynn - you did a FANTASTIC JOB! Well Done! Careful - this may become your other job along with starting this thread!

OMG! Gorgeous! I love them.

Definitely claiming their place aren't they? Isis - she sleeps on DH's pillow but won't on mine - unless she's in a playful mood - then I know she wants trouble.

Ok - here's mine again: (QUIET all you groans!) Fellow Siberian lover here!

Thank you for all the nice comments about my summary, I bet they still manage some big multi quote posts when they return:rotfl: Can't take credit for starting the thread that was Joann.
I love your puppy pics no funny faces here

Ok - I'm really trying to get off this board - but DH is picking up DS's prescription before we leave so I have a few minutes.

It is addictive

Disneyspirit/Tom - remembered you said that you've been to many of the DL parks - we just discussed ways of beating jetlag. Do you have any recommendations? Several have been discussed here as some of us are coming from the West Coast. Those have ranged from avoiding alchohol, bringing eye patches, reducing sound earphones to taking melatonin I think.

As a veteran flyer - do you have any more suggestions

Great idea Lynn. There would be no way that they could catch up with all the reading.

Also, CONGRATS ON THE pirate: !!!!!! I'm glad you put pirate: news in your daily post (it will make them jealous!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: )

Thank you!!

I was planning to reply to your multi post but hubby says if I want a new PC I have to come now!!! He doesn't often speak with such authority so I'll reply later :rotfl:

Here is a picture of a fish extender. We are using them on the EB Panama next summer. On that cruise each disboarder picks a day to deliver mail to everybody who has an extender.....like a piece of candy or a note or something from your hometown.

I am with the JOHARDY party, It would be great if we could find some friends for them to chat to before we go. That way we may actually get them to go to the kids club.

looking forward to hearing from anyone,

Welcome, Maria! I know what you mean -- there is still part of me that occasionally wonders what I am doing spending so much time on a cruise forum! I lurked and just used the boards for years just to collect information before I started to feel that it was wrong not to participate and give back in some way.

My youngest daughter is turning 10 this Thursday and is very friendly. She would live in the Lab if I would let her, so she will definitely meet your two older girls.
