But, Laura, the scarecrow DID have brains -- as the wizard showed, he just didn't have the diploma! (And the tin man, always my favorite, was full of heart -- but didn't fare so well in the Wicked version.) And of course in Wicked the scarecrow ends up to be Fiyero (maybe that was a spoiler for those who haven't seen it?) so all the better. I really think that Wicked is a story of female strength, and quite different in many ways from the book, which I read later. I've heard that Universal is developing a movie version that cannot replicate the experience of seeing it live on stage (there is really nothing like live performance) but at least lots of little girls who can't make it to a show can be exposed to the message.

I didn't enjoy the book as much as the play it was a lot darker. I saw it in San Francisco when we were there and now it has opened in London we saw it there last month it was WICKED

It's true -- I didn't let my 12 year old read the book after I had -- it is really an adult book and much darker. But the show is quite inspiring and, yes, wicked ! Did you see Idina Menzel? She is a phenomenal performer (I saw her in the original cast of Rent over 10 years ago) and Wicked has never been quite the same without her.

Not sure if chatterer is a real word or not for some one who is chatty?

I'm quiet too:laughing:

OK, this is Tom (DisneySpirit) DW Lynn uses her computer mostly for email and research. I am usually more of a lurker on Disboards to date but try and read as many messages on DCL as I can. We discovered DIS on the Westbound PC cruise. They all had these Mickey hand signs for waving at people in the ports we were visiting!

By accident I stopped by Preludes during a DIS trivia contest and was invited to join in. Well, I won! I received a very nice WDW boxed pin set for a prize. I was afraid to tell them I had been a part time Disney Store CM from 1993-2000 and had represented my store in the Disney Store's National Triva Contest for several years in a row. As I've grown older I still know alot of Disney Trivia, but I just can't access the answers as quickly as I used to!

I know what you mean I play in a pub quiz league

I still have lots of CM friends who moved around the Disney Company as their careers changed. I get to visit with them when we are at Disneyland every other month (We have APs) or at WDW in FL. We even took a DL CM friend on 2 DCL sailings with us because she has done many magical things for us through the years and is just a wonderful friend. (ie: Club 33 Dinners at DL)

We have been DVC members at OKW since 1992 and just recently added more points from AKL Villas. We trade for cruises a lot! The EB PC in 2008 will be our 10th Disney Cruise.

We have been to every Disney theme park except HKDL. Our favorite is TDS in Japan.

My wife and I are confirmed Disneyholics and collectors.

There is one room in our house we call "the Museum" it is so full of Star Trek, Beatles, and Disney paraphernalia that we currently can't get in there! My latest project is putting together the Robert Olszewsky minature train platform of Disneylands Main Street USA. This has become a very expensive hobby. I also am an avid pic collector with over 2755 pins. ( DisneySpirit on PinPics)

We have no kids (that would be reduntant) but, have 3 Siberian Huskies. Yes, I know we live in the desert! They are indoor dogs!

How lovely we need pics

I have repaired computers of all kinds since 1975. I have worked for Honeywell Info Systems, Motorola Semiconductor, and now for Freescale Semiconductor. I was a music major for a few years in college but turned to digital electronics when the computer job boom hit in the 1970s. DW is a dance teacher and has been a charter schoool administrator. She is currently tutoring at a learning center. I was born in NJ but moved to AZ in 1979. DW was born in CT and moved here in 1980. We met as Star Trek Fandom penpals and later at the NYC ST conventions of the 1970s.

I played in a rock band all during HS and College. (guitar, keyboards, and alto sax) I am a huge Beatles and Beach Boys fan. (DW likes Neil Diamond) I still play my George Harrison style Gretsch guitar and my Yamaha keyboards for recreation just not in a band anymore.

I'll try and get my husband to post, you should get on he loves star trek, plays many instruments, has played a bass guitar in a band for 25 years, he also works in the IT industry.

Man, this talking about your self stuff is hard!

OK, someone requested pictures let's see.... Ok, I don't know how to do that! (yet!)

DisneySpirit (Tom)

Tom somewhere on this thread are instructions for photos or maybe someone could post them again

:ssst: PLEASE don't put that in writing - there'll be no living with them when they get back (:lmao: :lmao: )- besides we still have Lynn around

oh I'm sure we can manage to be lively without them although it is quiet

HHmmm....might suspicious - wasn't she just claiming that she WOULD NEVER get one as her timing is .....less than impeccable??

I know what a coincidence :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We've not had a chance to see Wicked yet, but everyone who has says it is fantastic!!! Definitely on the "to-do" list.

We really should be keeping a list of happenings for Andrew and Helen. By the time they get back, all the news (like Tom & Lynn joining our cruise) will be old news.

I told them I'd do a summary post each day I was just reading back through to get the main points before I typed it

Summary for Sunday 27th May
  • many posts commenting on how quiet it was without you
  • Tom and Lynn missed the boat due to a lost passport, but now they are sailing with us
  • Discussion on broadway shows specifically Wicked and Legally Blonde
  • only 1 pirate today and I managed to claim it for the UK
  • pics of cruisers children very cute
  • pics of cruisers animals even cuter
  • Discussion around glow necklaces for meets, if possible DIS green
  • Scrapbooking

Every room in my house has a disney theme.
you should fit right in.

we are cruising too. generally don't post much but i have been reading what everyone is saying. me - 43, husband 43, daughter 11, son 14 and coolest mother-in-law in the world - no age necessary! The girls are in 6088 and the boys are slumming it in 6087 across the hall (inside stateroom). we have tried and tried to get a cat 3 - booked when they opened the lines on the first day but apparently we didn't have enough pixie dust. guess we won't have to listen to deck parties and maintenance people pushing chairs around at 4 am. concierge rooms are right under the pools. hopefully they will fix this on the new ships.

Hi Everyone. DisneySpirit here. We missed our cruise to the Med on 5/26 because of a lost passport while traveling to Barcelona. For the gorey details read our trip report for the current 5/26 Magic Med cruise. But, the good news is we will be joining all of you now instead. We don't know our room # as yet but have a Cat 6 guaranteed (Deluxe stateroom with verandah) We want to fly out a day earlier this time so could sure use some hotel suggestions for Barcelona.
Looking forward to meeting all of you!

DisneySpirit

Tom (56) Lynn (55)
Welcome aboard Tom & Lynn! Love those dogs!
We are staying at the Grand Marina and coming in one day early. Sorry about your original plans, but I know you will have a wonderful cruise and we look forward to meeting you!

Lynn - you did a FANTASTIC JOB! Well Done! Careful - this may become your other job along with starting this thread! :rotfl:

YIPPEE!! I got another tag!!!!

All this silly stuff must be "affecting" my brain!!

Congrats!!!
That is a cool one!

NOTE TO BOB: Our thread has been very lucky the last couple of weeks - we seemed to have been visited by the tag fairy! My favorite by far has been both LynnTarrant and Sallieip (?)? I'll let them tell you the story - its :lmao: :lmao:

If I only had a tag (sung along to Wizard of Oz music)

Don't forget the music - :rolleyes1 This one I like too :thumbsup2

Chime in with: ....a  , a  (substitute for brain!) :rotfl2:

NOTE TO SELF: I must get a life. We're getting ready to leave and I'm on here :surfweb: - I really got to get a life!

OK here's the kids! Nala 12 (Brown & White) Spirit 5 (White) & Mystic 2 (Black & White. All are Siberians with blue eyes.

OMG! Gorgeous! I love them.

Definitely claiming their place aren't they? Isis - she sleeps on DH's pillow but won't on mine - unless she's in a playful mood - then I know she wants trouble.

Ok - here's mine again: (QUIET all you groans!) Fellow Siberian lover here!

Isis attempting blocking me making the bed!

The Ghost Dog AKA Chloe - doesn't photograph too well so we have to catch her at play or incognito :cool2: :

Here she's doing her best Blues Bros impersonation! See the resemblance:
IMG_1116.jpg

Here Isis (B&W) is afraid of the pool but loves the ocean - while GDog loves the pool but hates the ocean. Go figure!
IMG_1551.jpg

Ok I'm getting the looks again:

Tom/Lynn - we are all just learning about pirate: and multi-quoting and tags so if you have any  - just write them in - we're all friendly and someone is bound to answer. Oh yeah - we have several teachers onboard so they're handy to have around. ;)

:welcome: aboard! We're all in for the time of our life!

how many posts until i am a mouseketeer?

Not sure but someone just recently got upgraded to Mousekateer - you might want to check out the avator and ask that person - sorry can't remember their names right now! Just that their DD changed the picture to Mulan and they moved up to Mousekateer.

OK - just thought I'd drop this in so that we know where we stand: We must band together and catch up to Andrew and Helen! (Sorry Lynn!) :rotfl:
