Warning For Contact Lense Users
Ok all - just have to say this. Late last night CBS ran a story on a contact lens cleaner recall. Apparently, the CDC (Atlanta??) has issued a recall due to the fact that some people have been linked to an eye disease. I apologize for not having the name handy but apprently the product in questions is:
AMO Brand Complete Moisture Plus Multi Purpose Solution. It is all type of Complete Moisture Plus The label is a blue label, white bottle (of course) with a yellow scribble design looks like an @ sign with eyelashes.
Apparently, there has been a link to this disease when used during swimming, hot tubbing or showering. Signs are still premature and they stressed that it is an early link but better be safe than sorry.
Oh here it is AMO stands for Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. They issued this warning late on Friday night and the newslink said that the company is issuing a voluntary recall but when I went today to Rite-Aid the bottles were still on the shelf. The news is stating that one should throw out any solution, lenses and lens case that came in contact with this solution. More details to follow
I followed this up by going to CBS dot com and looking up the health news and sure enough there was the link. I think that they let this go this weekend but I'm sure we may be hearing about it soon. In the meantime, check your cabinets, as I did, only to discover that I indeed had the product in question. I have since thrown everything out and went and bought all new lens cases, solution and tear drops. I went with Opti-Free.
Good Luck and hope this helps some others out there.
