What concert did you go to?

I wondered about that for a long time too. I thought maybe they knew someone who works in the IT dept and they were running a query for them and then emailing it.

As for things to do when you come out to CA - Did you know that the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and Las Vegas are very close? You could actually drive there, or catch a hopper flight from any of the airports down there.

You already did the drive up the coast, and the drive up inland isn't that pretty. But if you can stand it, you can drive north a while, out of the SoCal basin, and then Yosemite isn't that far away. We actually went their for our first time on Mother's Day. hard to believe I live 1.5 hours from the Hwy 120 gate, and have never been there in my life.

Or...You could make it all the way to Lake Tahoe in one day driving from SoCal. It's a beautiful lake. I grew up in Sacramento, and would go up there all the time. I remember all kinds of myths about the lake from when i was a kid. Like, they aren't exactly sure how deep it is, mainly because they think it is the mouth of a volcano. Supposedly during the Ice Age it filled with ICE, and when everything melted, it left the lake. that last part is actually true, but I think they did find the bottom recently. Another fun tail, Tahoe has it's own, less known, version of Nessie. And, one myth has it that the reason you can never see one or the other is that Loch Ness and Lake Tahoe are connected and that this mystical creature wanders between the two lakes.

OK - i swear I wont read or post for a while.

Otherwise this will be my fate.

Oh yeah - Laura, forgot to tell you. I have the kids and my hubby doing :laundy: :cheer2:

There's a lot to be said for visiting Gold Country - Columbia, maybe some of the old mining towns.

But above all, you just can't overstate Yosemite. It is (I believe) the single most beautiful place on earth. Grab some cabins in Curry village and you can easily spend a few days relaxing and just being overwhelmed by the surroundings.

Dan

so Dan from Ca another vote for Yosemite, maybe I should create a poll.
you certainly have sold it well. Would it be best to hire a car? What sort of accommodation is there at Curry village?

Wow - I have to say that I am totally exhausted. Gone all day and 10 pages to read :confused3

OO - i forgot about Columbia. I love that place. You can even do a great little stroll (by car of course) up Hwy 49 and go through the entire Gold Country. I love Coloma, Twain Harte, Old Placerville, etc.

Sadly though - we just learned that they are closing the Hershey plant in Oakdale to move it to New Mexico. Kids were boycotting it this weekend at the Oakdale Chocolate Festival. Not sure the festival will be the same with Hershey leaving town. I mean, as long as Aspargus is grown in Stockton it makes sense to have an Asparagus festival. When they finally fill in the farmland and build houses, it just wont make sense anymore. What would they do? Ship the asparagus in from other countries?

I'm a Head Coach for a CheerLeadind squad. We normally sell candy, including hershey's. Many of the kids and their parents don't want to sell the Hershey box this year. They will sell the Mars box though.

Wow - how did you guys do it? I have no patience to try to catch up with you guys since we need to wait 40 seconds to reply each time:eek:

SO are you a wicked headteacher?

My school football coach is an ex pupil and last week my year 6 children found this out...one of them said was it scarey having Mrs Tarrant as your teacher, he said ' It had it's moments'

My dd just had one of her cheerleading competitions at Hershey last weekend (Mother's day weekend) and there were quiet a few people outside with signs up for people not to go into Hershey or purchase their items.

Well Carrie and I are procrastinating, and Helen has been out on the town don't try and 'ketchup' just join in

that's a moment like my hubby and i had a few years ago when our youngest entered Kindergarten. One of the other kids in his class, also the youngest in his family, is the son, of my hubby's HS Chemistry.

Well - it was interesting to talk about what the kids used to do to the other classes, and what the teachers used to do to the kids.
