Thoose navigators are really good, I thought there might be a character breakfast on that mornnig and all sea mornings cannot see any reference to that.

Do you have all of these for the full cruise or are they on the Diss?

Unfortunately no.:sad2:
My friends only brought us 3 navagators. The other 2 I have are the Monday May 28 (Palermo)
and Tuesday June 5 (Day at Sea)

Oh, on a completely different note,

I've been obsessing over the toilet paper issue.

I found individual travel rolls of Charmin toilet tissue for about $1 a piece. Then DH had a brainstorm, why not roll your own. So, (yes I have lost it) I took a roll of toilet paper (Scott tissue because it's not so fluffy), took a pencil, and rolled the toilet paper around the pencil nice and tight, thereby making mini rolls. I removed the pencil easily and was able to fit two little rolls inside a ziplock snack sized bag. I figure each little roll is good for about 5-6 "normal" uses (:rotfl: ) Not sure if the hotels in Barcelona have toilet tissues or bidets so I'll pack a few from home and then I can roll more on the ship to take.

I must get a life.

Maryann

Great Idea Maryanne - I plan on bringing some of my own - or prepare some on the ship.

Okay,

I played around with the dcl website regarding our excursion in Florence. I can see what is available. The vip Pisa is booked. I thought of just doing Pisa (no going up) and only limited spots available for each time frame and not enough for all five of us. I have emailed dcl regarding this (if it's possible to get us all in the am). I might call them later too if I have two minutes (parents leaving for Italy tonite).

I have also emailed two private tour guides.

If you booked a private one - can you post just that tour guide for Florence. My dh and sons do not want to sit 2 1/2 hours in a bus/car each way (no traffic). We would rather just do one place in less time and see less.

I am sure (make me feel good and say yes ;) ), we can grab a van/cab at the port that will just take us to Pisa and back if I have nothing booked

:scared1: :scared1: \\:confused3 :confused3

I just realized that the "two tour guides" I emailed are one and the same.:sad2:

DD & DS will be in your "neck of the woods" (England, Ireland, and Scotland) for a 2 week tour at the end of this month. Just a few questions please:

Weather: DD isn't sure about bringing shorts as the TA said avr. temp is about 67 degrees F (20 degrees C?). Are capris and long pants good enough? TA also recommended bringing an all weather jacket for the rain. Good idea?

Skype: DS is pining for his girlfriend. She is taking a class in Denmark and part of his trip will overlap hers. He's debating on bringing his laptop and using Skype. Is it pretty much available all over Europe? I'm sure London won't be a problem but any ideas about the other places on their tour:

Woodstock, Cotswolds, Chester, (Scotland) Edinburgh, Culloden, Loch Ness & Glen Coe (Ireland) Dublin, Glasgow, Glenalough & Waterford. I'm guessing he might have problems with internet off the beaten path in some of the country locations, but do the bigger cities have it?

Thank you dear friends,
Maryann

Firstly you will enjoy that, good time to come

UK the one thing you cannot do here is predict our weather, It can rain or be sunny or both at the same time.
Generally speaking the long term forecast is for hot weather, not as hot as say Florida, and not humid like that, shorts would be fine, but yes bring a raincoat and hopfully you will never use it. 20C looks ok, but it can get to 34c and did last year, we had a heatwave and it was very hot all summer, our prdictions are for even hotter this year.

I dont think it would be too cold but Sunny/rain/overcast is possible.

Not too sure about Skype but plenty of internet access points around in hotels and internet cafes.

The big cities would have it somewhere, the smaller ones again should have like Chester, Cotswolds there will be some in hotels or internet cafes, or some McDonalds.

I'm in an internet cafe in Bermuda and of course had to stop into the Dis and say hi . . . we were at Horseshoe beach this morning and it was lovely -- the weather is a little windy and overcast but Bermuda is still a fabulous place to see . . .

I will look forward to seeing those navigators when I get back!

I don't think I'll ever ever leave it that long again !!!!

Quote from Winotracy re Barcelona embarkation:-

We boarded around noon. We could not go to our room until 1:30 pm. We could get back off after checking in and boarding. We were told at check in that all aboard was at 5:00 pm, which was different than what we had been told before. I don't know about disembarking after the safety drill as that was after the time we were told was all aboard. I know there were a lot of people who didn't make it to the safety drill though.

hello everyone,

Having never cruised with DCL before can anyone tell me how the kids club operates, can the children go at anytime and stay for as long as they want or do you have to book for specific activities?
Thanks in advance
Jayne

Firstly welcome to this thread and please do come around often and post.

Second, I have two kids and they are often in the clubs mainly on sea days and in the evening.

The main clubs run from 9.00am to 12 midnight.

You can leave them anytime after 9.00am and stay as long as you wish. Lunch and dinner are included during the day in one of the ship restaurants.

The clubs are split up into different age groups and each one has its own schedule, there are navigators for each age group.

Some free time is given between these, they also have transition time when they move around the ship, lunch dinner, sports deck, the two clubs to see a movie the Magic Quest.

You should try to avoid checking in and out in transition time, or in the middle of an event, or movie.

Kids over 8 can be given permission by you to check themselves in and out. Otherwise you have a password to check them out.

Register now online at DCL online, and do not take them if they are unwell.

PS LOTS OF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CRUISE AND WHO IS GOING ON IT ON THE FRONT PAGE POST 1 AND POST 10.
