The big news in the UK today is the unveiling of the 2012 Olympic Logo, it has had a very negative response here, If you haven't seen it yet here it is. What do you think?

uolympics.jpg
I think it could have been better. It's disappointing.

UH OH! Am I going to have trouble with my sign line? Does anyone know what the bytes on this one is?

Julie - me - too - haven't attempted it but I'm worried now. This will be my 3rd image. Is this the only size? Can we get a smaller one? Sorry all - just wanted to display my cruises. I'm very proud that I am doing DCL. Everyone here thinks I'm just

I got it, Laura . . .and you did too! I think you are fine for byte size . . .

Ok all - here's what's been happening.

1. Scary home situation still on hold. I'm playing ostrich in the hopes that things aren't really happening. :upsidedow

2. Came home from dinner last night to find that our 'girls' had escaped their cell (backyard) :scared1: and were runnig loose. Luckily, some  happened to hear them in their yards and went out to investigate. Isis (our B&W) came into their yard because she'd seen their cat. Chloe - our white dog - is a follower and clumsy as heck so SHE ran into their trashcan and knocked it over. Well, they recognized them from DD and I walking them periodically and knew they were local so even though they look intimidating - she took a chance and tried to catch them. They both had their collars on but it took a while. Eventually they rounded them up and took them inside. They WONDERFUL people put their own dogs in the back (theirs are inside dogs too) and allowed my "brats" ( ) to stay inside. Once they were inside - they went directly to the dogs blankets and laid down. Chloe was the first to allow them to pet her and that was when they got a chance to read the tags. Because it was late - they didn't catch our address on the tag but did a reverse phone number lookup and caught our address that way. Amazingly - they'd been out for about a 1/2 hr. The  lady said that they were very skittish and scared and their hearts were really pounding but once inside they settled down - well the white one did - Isis - would just pace but would settle down long enough to be spoken and head patted only. Chloe would lie down and roll over to have her tummy scratched along with her neck. That Dog is a sucker for neck rubs. She's easily bought!;)

Anyway, since we got back late, I was scared to see this person standing inf front of DH's car wearing a black hoodie and 'casing' out the house but it turns out that my angel was just leaving an additional note telling us where to find the dogs. Bless her heart. Her house is on the corner of a MAJOR HEAVILY TRAVELED THOROUGHFARE! :scared1: We were extremely lucky that they weren't run over. I know exactly what happened/ Isis broke through our very old wooden gate and the rope holding it together busted. She took off and Chloe followed. Even though they are micro-chipped. These dogs rarely are turned back in. In fact, there has been a rash of husky-napping around here. So I consider myself extremely blessed that my girls are back home! THANK YOU GOD! AND MY GIRLS ANGEL!

Now I really must do something good for them. I was thinking some kind of fruit basket or something like that - would do you guys think? I didn't even think about a reward but I did ask her what I could do to thank her. Her response - do something nice for someone else. What a lady I tell you. And a wonderful experience in meeting a new/old neighbor. She's lived there for years but out here -if your more than 2 houses away - we're basically all strangers. She said that while she was scared to approach them she had a hunch they were inside dogs as Chloes coat was too white and shiny to look like they were outside dogs.

3. I have signed on to do the WB Transatlantic Repo cruise. I was 'informed' this morning by a friend that she managed to book some of the last cat 12's that went on special. I thought about this, checked with DH and DD14 about going. While DD wasn't happy - she said - go ahead. I know you need time away. DH said that if this is what I want to do then I should go ahead as we may never have another year like the kind we're having. VERY BUSY at work. HHHMMMM...wonder if he is just trying to get me out of his hair? Oh who cares - as long as I get to visit some of my childhood longings. I always thought it would be nice to visit the rock of Gilbralter. Now, I'm going to get the chance. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I've always wanted to see it ever since as a child, anyone remember those traveling encyclopedia salespeople that would sell thos special, classic books? You spent lots of $$ for color pictures - an 'heirloom' to pass on to your kids? Yeah - those - well, back in '72 or thereabouts my father bought them for us kids and I remember looking at this 'special' place in the world and saying to myself - I'm going there one day. I'm happy because I get to knock off another one of my places-to-visit-before-I-die list. I truly am blessed to have such a wonderful life.

And that brings me back to my original point - sorry its so long - just when I think I'm having a bad time, I get knocked up alongside my head and makes me open my eyes to realize - I truly am blessed. I could have lost 2 very important people WELL OK - their dogs - but their still family and instead I still have them. My girls are alive and well - the human ones that is and DH is super supportive and happy that I'm going. :woohoo: :woohoo:

We had a similar experience years ago with a deaf dog! He was away from us overnight and I do know your relief when at last they are home safe! I have the idea if you don't have the compassion to love and care for an animal, then something is missing in your heart! That is my, idea, anyway!

What a nice neighbor. I know you will always remember them!

I'm back.
Well, I guess you all liked the web banner. I made the original big so you could see detail, but several of you have already inserted into your sig. Crackin' me up! :thumbsup2

I'll resize and post. I cannot capture the URL properly from the photo page and insert here. So, if somebody will post to the board for me when I've got images loaded I would appreciate it.

Brian

Brian, such a great job with the web banner -- thanks so much for making it.

The big news in the UK today is the unveiling of the 2012 Olympic Logo, it has had a very negative response here, If you haven't seen it yet here it is. What do you think?

uolympics.jpg

Wow, that is not what I would have expected!

Lynn,
Thanks for the kudos. Still struggling to get it to work correctly in my personal sig. Maybe it's a Mac thing? I'll be happy to provide a hi-resolution image big enough for a faux pocket design and tags for the back. Maybe all of us will have one by then. :rolleyes1

I have a Macbook and didn't have any trouble getting it in my signature.

I think the logo is great - if we standardized on that as the front - say, pocket size where the front pocket would normally be?
Perhaps include your DISName under the logo?

Then the back could be a series of tags. We could come up with a standard list, or everyone could just create their own?

Love the tshirt ideas!

Hey everyone - did anybody else get a call from DCL re: Lucca Treasure Hunt? Also Lucca Bike Ride? Its been cancelled and allready taken off the choices.

I took a call from DCL today asking for DD and DS (Which that one is no big deal) but they had already cancelled and taken it off our list. THey were requesting that they go online and check out the other choices. Wonder what happened?

Another excursions gone bad?

Hope not - maybe its just a case of not being a good excursion. Although something must have been bad since its only been 1 cruise. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Lisa - do you have one of those families too? :rotfl:

Don't let the bed bugs bite!

Mrs. G. - Don't get mad at me - please what's your first name again? I'm horrible with names. I just know I know it but my head is gone.

ALSO, just a suggestion, but on the ones I've done where someone has done the nametags, They usually have the DIS name in big letters and then the real name of the poster underneath. So for instance, on our 11 Night , I post but DH and DS didn't so their tags had my DIS name and then their real names in ( ) I think they chose to do this so that people tend to recognize the DIS name before the real name. I have a copy of the one I wen ton if anyone wants to see it? Just let me know - I'm actually getting ready to pick up ST DD14 from school so I will be taking a small break from the boards.

Lets see if I overcame my ignorance and input this banner right.

First name: Maryann
DH: Tom

Whatever everyone decides on how to do the tags is fine with me. (How can I get mad at you - there are days I don't remember my first name either!):rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hello I am back, had a great time in Majorca, Spain.

On the flight over there we started our decent over Barcelona and it was clear skys, and I could see the port, two cruise ships were in and I am sure one was the Disney Magic.

On arrival in Majorca it was a little overcast, and cooler, but after getting my hire car, we drove up to the private villa, in Pollensa.

I booked a peaceful location and we got that, the villa was up a single track road for about five miles and in fact the very last building before the cliff edge. The road by this time was nothing more than a dirt track.

The weather then became windy and cold for two days but then was back upto 27c to 37c on the beach for the rest of the week.

We toured North West Majorca by car and also went on there local modern trains and then a 1912 train service through the mountains long tunnels etc to Stoller. Great fun and as the weather wasn’t good, a good use of time.

Pollensa also has famous steps some 365 up to a chapel, nice walk!

Later in the week we had quite a lot of beach days as it became very hot, and then went back to the villa to have a swim in our pool.

Food we had breakfast in the villa but for lunch and dinner we went to restaurants.

I presume the cost will be similar to Barcelona a meal would be from euros 9 to a set meal of euros 14 a full meal with soft drinks for a family of four was about 60-70 euros.

Try to get some pictures soon.

Welcome Back, Andrew! We have been busy, as you can see!!

MA? Is this posted under the trip reports? or the this portions?

Laura,

I put it on the main cruise board and also on the current med trip report thread. I'll try to post it on next week's cruise trip report thread once they get it going.

Maryann

Just wanted to share a picture with you of our Princess Jasmine on her first birthday today!princess:

Only animal people can appreciate because she had a real dog birthday with cake and party with our grandsons & neighborhood children...she thinks she is one, but don't ask me whose fault that is....:rotfl: What can I say, she brings us joy and many, many laughs!

See you all soon and we will all party together!:woohoo:

Hey, the Brits are sleeping. If we talk back and forth for the next few hours, we'll be sure to get a pirate: for the US. Unless Helen sets her alarm........
