July 27, 2008 West Coast Magic - 10 Years of Magical Cruising

For those of you without passports, how long are you waiting before applying.

I understand the benefits of a passport, but since I rarely travel outside the US, I'd rather not spend the extra money if I don't have to.

As of now, the requirement has been bumped all the way until June 30, 2008.

I read on their website that DCL requires your passport number 75 days before the cruise, which would be 5/12/08.

I think we're gonna wait until the first of the year and see if maybe the government changes their minds....again.

Anyone else dealing with this???

We got ours back before the Panama Canal Cruise in 2005. I would just bite the bullet and get it done. You never know when a travel oppertunity might come up and to miss something just because you don't have a passport could be a real disappointment.

There were a number of people on the May Med Repo that waited until the "last" minute to get the passports and then were in panic mode when they didn't come.

I know they are expensive, but they are good for 14 years for the adults and 10 years for the kids. So the cost per year is very low - sorry, I'm a bean counter at heart.

Not that this affects the point that you were making, but Passports issued when you are 16 or older are good for 10 years, younger than that are good for 5 years.

Ok. I've noted your vote to get Passports now.

Current standings
Get Now 1
Get Later 0 (not including my Veto power)

even if you dont get your passport in time seeing that you have applyed is all they need at this time due to there very long back log.

I dont have ours either and will wait a little longer also.O take turns getting them.

Wish they did not charge so much. When you have a family it can get expensive.

Current Standings

Get Now 1
Get Later 1

Also, I think they've delayed Passports for kids (traveling to Canada or Mexico) even longer.

OK - so I'm a bad bean counter. Bottom line - who cares, don't get them until you have to.

Just a bump to get us back on the first page. We have a cold front moving thru today, high will be 85 instead of 92. It is also humid this morning which is really nice here as the humidity usually hovers around the 12 to 15 percent range! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi Everyone

Heading down to Long Beach tomorrow to watch our son play in a pro beach volleyball tournament. He will play at least 2 matches tomorrow. Hope he wins both.

Have a great weekend.

well here I sit on my laptop lisening to the band up on the stage in front of the fire in our fire pit drinking my Bella Serra Pinot Grigio Wine mixed with Peach Boons Farm...yes Boons Farm wine...:rotfl:

We have had a great time. I entered the pie eating contest today and came in 4th. But it was against all men and 1 other woman. Last year and the year before I came in 1st:rotfl2:

The Sea World fire works will be starting in about 30 mkinutes and can see then from our camp site. WE have a view of the Bay and are right across from Sea World:thumbsup2

I have played kick ball, Dodge ball(my favorite) flag football and vollyball and danced in the tent with the DJ last night, bike riding and we just got here yesterday at 3 in the afternoon....:dance3:

Have lots of friends coming tomorrow and another Band will be playing again. Need more Boones Farm and Pinot Grigio :lmao:

So what are you all doing????

Well Frontier Days kicked off yesterday, We will be going to the parade today and maybe a rodeo tomorrow. Big air show on Wednesday , will be kewl to see the Thunderbirds.

Still moving stuff to the barn from the basement, when that gets done, will have to paint the garage floor and then start on finishing the basement. Lots to do but we are making progress.

The camping trip sounds great, I hope we can get out some this summer or maybe the fall.

It's been about 3 or 4 years since the last visit. We used to go every summer.

Nice place.

The pancake breakfast was amazing, They fed 10,000 plus people in about 30 - 40 min. They really have it down, I will post photos as I left them on the work computer before the air show. And the food was good pancakes, ham, coffee.

The Thunderbirds ROCK!!!!

One of the solo members did a low and fast fly over, It was KEWL as it set off car alarms in the parking lot. LOL

So is anyone having a "1-year-to-go!!" Party this weekend??

Shari (DW) and Staci (DD) are at WDW this week and doing a 4 day Wonder cruise starting Sunday. I guess that is their 1 year to go party. I will be on my bike this weekend - so no time for a party.

Ken

Fun day of yard work and washing windows - what a thrill. I did get in some miles, but I had to ride my mountain bike instead of my road bike - big difference, much slower. Oh well.

Have a great rest of the weekend.
