A bit late to the roll call party, but we will be there on the Disney Magic cruise as well! Hubby, me, and our boy (7), who will be spending his 8th birthday in Europe! We're all so excited, especially since we will be joined by two other families who are old college friends.

Here's to a great cruise!

I also need to bump my posts in order to send a PM for the FB add. So, you may see random smileys and dancing bananas from time to time.

We're going to spend a week near Disneyland Paris before the cruise, so I'm working furiously on touring plans for DLP and Paris! :rotfl2: I'm less worried about the cruise - most of the ports I feel confident we can hop off the ship and find something to do! We have some ideas about the ports - like I want to purchase 2-day Copenhagen Cards for Copenhagen, and we have a tour for St. Petersburg - but I'm looking forward to experiencing and exploring some new countries and I'm not going to worry too much about it! :thumbsup2

We did just recently book our flights to and from - *that* was a headache! DH was *soooo* upset because of the unexpected taxes tacked onto our fare from London to the US - but since we were trying to use miles, we couldn't do much about it. I swear we flew home on miles in 2011 and didn't end up paying an additional $400/person for the flights! No matter, though - we've got non-refundable fares to Paris (along with a non-refundable hotel there) and back home from London, so now we know we're going! :woohoo:

We're still waiting to piece together the final bit of travel - from DLP to Dover, most likely, since due to flight schedules we have an extra day now we can devote to Dover Castle. Since the trains/ferries don't seem to be available for purchase this far out, that will have to wait. :worried:

I'm keeping my eyes open for FE stuff, even though I'm not officially signed up (still debating, with all the pre-cruise travel!) DH thinks that since there are a lot of UK families, that US candy would be a hit - I know my family loved the UK candies we've gotten in the past in FEs, but I honestly am not sure what kind of candies are available here that aren't available there! :confused3 Would anyone like to weigh in on what would be a cool treat to get from the US you can't get normally?

Living just an hour from the port of Dover there is far less planning for us than other cruises, no flights, no pre or post cruise hotels, no luggage concerns , just drive and park.

Now having undertaken the DCL Baltic 12 night in 2010 I am enhancing our port experience this time.

I have Private shore trips organised in every port of call now, I do think that DCL will come out with some excellent tours, when I spoke with Karl Holz he said they were planning dome very special trips a bit more like ABD than normal trips and mentioned a trip to the vaults of the Hermitage.

I found last time the DCL tours clashed on times so you couldn't do everything, there were full day trips, morning or afternoon or evening tours, but the evening tours started before the full day or afternoon ones were back or the online system would allow you to book it.

So I have a full day Copenhagen day tour, and a full day Royal palaces tour, Stockholm, full dsy your, Helsinki and Porvoo, St Petersburg two day tour including the evening on the first night, and a part car part walking tour of Tallinn.

Hersheys kisses - whilst available here they are expensive. Or Ghiardelli (?sp) - love going to DTD for my free square!

I miss Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, but the chocolate here is so delicious, and we have Kinder eggs. ;)
I am thinking that to participate in the FE is going to be hard, since I will have to get 14 nights worth of clothes, and shoes into my suitcase. I don't know where it would fit. :confused3

And you will love DLPR and Paris, we spend last Halloween there, and had a blast. Paris is always a great time too, we spend DH birthday there in 2012.

Hi everyone! Just booked this cruise while we were on the WBTA. There are 3 of us; I'm Melissa and I am traveling with my mom Nancy and my brother Matthew all adults. Looking forward to catching up on all the info once we are back home.

:welcome: tinkerbell_29! :cool1:

You're living my dream! I sooooo want to do a trans-Atlantic!! DH promises we'll do one after we retire so we can have more time to spend in Europe. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the welcome Deb T. The trans-Atlantic was amazing. It was a long trip we were gone for a month. Next year will be no where near as long but I feel like I have so much more to plan for.
Melissa

Wow - a month! You really ARE living my dream! :goodvibes What did you like most about that cruise? How was your weather? Were the seas fairly calm most of the time? Our post-retirement plans are to do B2B's with trans-Atlantic cruises at least every other year, and tour around a while we're over there. DH can only take off 2 weeks at a time right now, so that doesn't give us much time for any extra touring. It won't be long, though, before we do early retirement! :woohoo:

The best part of the cruise was the 8 sea days with 5 of them in a row as we crossed. The seas were extremely calm very small waves. Captain John did a great job at staying away from the storms that were out there. I'm lucky with my job I make my own schedule for the most part. The only down side no pay for a month.

We're so glad you joined us! It will be a fantastic surprise for your boys! When will you tell them? Will this be your first Disney cruise?

Thanks for all the welcomes,, it's our 5th cruise, we are in the same cabin as our first cruise on the magic which will be really exciting. I think we will tell them at Christmas , but it's up to Granny as its her gift to them. Love having 2 boys but you would never guess they are twins , very different from each other.
