Great dining advice from everyone. It hadn't occurred to me to ask to eat on the other serving. Topsiders was useful to us in a couple of occasions as an alternative.

Yes there are options such as Cabanas ( Topsiders) and swapping to late, on St Petes night it's easier as there will be people booking an evening at the ballet that leaves around 5pm, so they miss dinner.

Hi,

We have just booked this cruise :yay:

We are me, my DH Donald and DD Niamh (who will be 14 when we travel)

This will be our 6th Disney cruise but first in The Baltics.

We are very excited about this cruise as it covers quite a few of our bucket list destinations.

Hi Katie
We too are in Scotland (Inverness) :wave2:

Hi Everyone :flower3: Currently, there are two active FB pages for our cruise. Here is full disclosure on both: Mousemom11 started one last Thursday morning at the request of DISers who were already posting on this Meets Thread. It was made “secret” so that only fellow cruisers could see personal information about members. The link and instructions for joining were posted on Page 1 and it currently has 15 members. This is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/320556281425043/ If you are a member, you see everyone’s information. If you are not a member yet, you will see an “error” page until you send your email address to Mousemom11 to be invited. On Friday, Mindelmouse introduced herself on this Meets Thread and invited everyone to join the FB page she had started on Wednesday. It currently has 11 members, two of whom are also on the other FB page. This is the link: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=225123977684256 It is a “closed” group, so even if you are not a member, it is still possible to see full names. By clicking on a name, depending on personal privacy settings, you can see an individual’s posts, photos, videos, friends, etc. However, only members are able to post and read posts on this page. You can request to join by sending your email address to Mindelmouse to be invited. It’s not up to me (as the OP) to decide if there continues to be two FB pages or if one group should merge into the other group. What I can do is post a version of the two paragraphs above on Page 1, and let everyone decide which group you would like to be a part of: one, the other, or both. Since this DIS Meets thread is the original point of contact for everyone, it is my hope that “planning information” will continue to be posted here, as well.

Confusing with two FB groups.

Something's are easier to post on FB and safer I have linked my photos for the Baltic ports in 2010 to the main FB group so people can access them but they have to be part of that group first, I can and wouldn't link them all here as anyone could see them.

We do however need only one FB group it's confusing I have two already for this years cruise as we'll and two threads here.

Me too! I joined the first Facebook group, but of course I haven't been back to see if there are any updates. I only check Facebook if someone tells me to go check something.

On the FB group which I joined last week there are plenty of previous Baltic cruisers and also people from the UK, all of which have posted important local and cruise information, one of the party has offered to organise a UK coach from London to Dover on the day of the cruise to save money. It's worth looking at it.

I agree that it would be nice to have just one FB page. It would be an easy fix: the nine extra members of the second group could PM Mousemom11 so they can join the other fifteen current members and the info on Page 1 would remain the same. :thumbsup2

We do need just the one FB group ASAP otherwise it will cause a split before we start.

I would suggest the one with the most members should continue.

What is the fish exchange?

Here's my best explanation:

Beside every cabin door is a large silver fish with an indentation in the back for cruise personnel to leave information, invitations, etc. DISboarders have taken the silver fish one step further... by creating hanging pockets (much like cloth letter holders) to hang from the fish - thus the name, "Fish Extender". Fish Extenders (FEs) can be made of practically anything (cloth, plastic, paper gift bags, etc.), as long as they have at least one pocket that can hold surprises. My first FE was just a plain medium-sized canvas bag purchased from a local craft supplies store.

Each "Cruise Meets" thread organizes their own little gift exchange. Some people give one gift per family, some people give a little gift to each person. It's totally up to the giver to decide what to give and when to give it during the cruise.

There are several threads that discuss ideas for FE gifts. Some gifts are from Dollar Stores, some are handmade, and some are bought in bulk from websites that sell trinkets like the Oriental Trading Company. Often, they are stickers, candy, glow sticks, lanyards, luggage tags, magnets, mugs, frames, etc., with themes such as pirates, beach, cruise, tropical, hometown, holiday, etc. The main idea is just to have fun finding little goodies in your FE throughout the cruise. Kids LOVE running back to their cabin to see if anything's been left in their FE. As an adult, I have to admit that I really love it, too!!!

Since a lot of us are traveling internationally for this cruise, we will close the list on Friday, June 19, 2015, to give everyone time to get their gifts together and pack them. I will send all participants a PM on Saturday, June 20, 2015, with your FE group information. You'll need to print that final list of participants and pack it with your gifts so you'll know where to deliver them once you're onboard the ship.

I will keep a running list of DIS names on Page 1. If you'd like to sign up, please send me a Private Message with the following information:
*Cabin Number
*Names of everyone in your cabin
*Ages of children
*Any allergy considerations
*The size of the FE group you want to be in: No more than 20, No more than 40, No more than 60, or Sky’s the Limit

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

If you are new to the DIS Boards:
*You will need ten posts before you can send a PM.
*To send me a PM, click on my name in the upper left-hand side of this box and then click on "Send Deb T. a Private Message".

Hello, All! My family and I are on this cruise as well. Last week was my children's spring break, so we were away and I couldn't get caught-up on this board until today. We tried to "disconnect" at least a little bit, so I had to set a good example! I'm looking forward to getting to know and planning with you all. I was in the Facebook group that Mindy and Lisa mentioned earlier, which was fantastic. There are definitely some things that are just easier with Facebook, although I understand some people are not comfortable with the privacy issues. I think there should be one group and my feeling is that it should be closed, but not secret. There are a couple reason for this: a secret group cannot be searched on Facebook, which is bad because there are bound to be other groups started for this cruise when non-Dis folks try to find it on Facebook. I agree that it's really important to keep your privacy settings tight and up-to-date (unless you're personally comfortable with less strict privacy settings), but also think the group should be inclusive of those not on the Dis. Just my thoughts as someone who has had a great experience with Facebook groups in the past. You all seem to be a wealth of information so far and I really hope this Facebook thing gets worked-out in the best way possible. No decision will make everyone happy, for sure, but I hope the most people are as happy and comfortable as possible! Looking forward to some fun planning leading to an amazing trip for all of us!!

I booked this cruise on opening day. :cool1: It will be the 3 of us with DH and DD (will be 12). This will be our 8th DCL cruise. We did the 12-day Med cruise in 2013, loved it. So happy DCL decided to offer Baltic cruise in 2015. We will be going on DCL Alaskan cruise this summer, hoping to re-shop for OBB. But I've seen some posts mentioning about block out dates, so hopefully this Baltic cruise is not blocked out for OBB offer. I would be interested in ride sharing to Dover.

The prices are starting to increase on this cruise, you may get it cheaper in Alaska but that's a while yet depends on more booking, No blackout dates for Europe on OBB at this time. Celestine and her husband Reading FC are organising the transfer. They did it in 2010 and many joined them.

You will love Alaska have a look at my link below for details and photos on my 2013 trip there.
