**July 2024 Check-In**

How concerned are folks feeling about this? Timeline makes me anxious. Strike authorization vote July 19, further negotiations scheduled July 22... our trip July 29. 😬

I understand that part of this is a tactic and that it would be unwise of the union not to authorize the ability to call a strike, as then they look weaker to the company. But how likely is it that they will actually walk out, and what would the timing look like? We have sunk a lot of money into this trip and it is our family's first and probably only DL vacation.
Not worried at all. I've seen posts elsewhere from people who would have reason to know that if they do end up striking, it won't be until at least August. A possible strike during D23 would be a big motivator for their contract to get worked out. Just repeating what I've read; I have no knowledge of the situation myself.

Purchased our DL tickets tonight...guess it's for real now. We leave in less than two weeks. Rebooked rental car for cheaper rate.

Still debating my 1st night hotel...we have two of them booked. We arrive around 11:30am and it won't be a park day for us, will be pool/hotel time for me and my daughter and my husband and son will visit the Iowa. We land in Long Beach and will drop them off then pick them up later.

Hotels booked currently:
Hampton Inn and Suites Anaheim Resort Convention Center (K w/sofa and bunk beds for the two 20+ kids)
SunCoast Park Hotel Anaheim (King Studio Family Suite)

Definitely need more than 2 beds and the kids would prefer different rooms since I'm a loud sleeper (yes I snore) but not sure that's gonna happen...and they are stuck with the one room at DLH the next 3 nights anyway. Thought we may head into the Downtown Disney area the first evening for dinner at least.

We move to Disneyland Hotel the next day for the other 3 nights (booked via DVC points)

Quick trip for us and hopefully won't be too rough making that East to West coast adjustment and then back just 5 days later.

We arrive at the DLH in 5 days and staying for 11 nights and yesterday afternoon I receive a call from DLH offering us a Magical Upgrade for no extra cost. We had booked a standard view in the hotel and were offered a Deluxe Studio with a preferred view in the Discovery Tower DVC. We jumped at the offer, but I have one question. For those who have stayed in that room how is the mattress in the pulldown bed? We saw on review that said it was very firm as in uncomfortable. Is this true? I don't care if it's firm as long as it's comfortable.

TIA!

So did the crowds show up today or what? Been looking at wait times from the airport and saw Rise get up to a 3 hour wait. Matterhorn, Space Mountain, Indy, BTMR, and even Star Tours with over hour waits.

Most rides are under 70 mins

So really not that bad for afternoon crowds

Maybe I am spoiled with WDW now being our home park, or just because I am still living in the days when I had an AP to DL, but if 70 minutes was the bar, I would say the park is crowded. In my past, if mid tier rides were getting to 45 min, it was a crowded day at the park.

SM and Indy used to have 2-3 hour waits on most days.

I'll have to look into it more because it is surprising for many reasons like Disneyland having more attractions then most WDW parks, and MK for sure gets more people a year so no idea how they can have lower waits and more people with less things to do.

Welcome to the world of LLMP. :snail::snail:

Yes, I know. Not as many locals buy it which makes the standby lines longer.
I would say then its locals not paid FP that changes the park

Like WDW is great but Disneyland is such an easier thing to get to and get to both parks as well are just steps away vs having to travel

According to thrilldata.com, four attractions at DCA and five at DL have had wait times averaging over an hour today. Also quite a few that have been around 30 minutes sitting at 45 minutes to an hour. Average wait time today at ROTR has been 133 minutes.

Plus a number of G+ reservations sold out by around 2:30, which is unusual. Based on both the standby and G+ numbers, I'd say it definitely looks busier than it has been in the past couple of weeks.

Today is a Tier 3 day for tickets. Much more crowded today...last Tier 3 day was July 9 which was busy. I expect attendance will be begin to slump off once schools go back. In and out of town guests will both be decreasing in early August. Once the closures like SM and the Railroad start, I bet locals will less likely to go maybe Key holders will go.

Yea, we pretty much are only going to be able to use two G+ reservations today. We got into the park at 5pm and almost everything was sold out. Got one for BTMRR and Star Tours. Small World is all that is left. Pirates has been closed all day also, which isn’t helping the situation.

Just got in line for Indy, 85 minute wait. First time we have ever had to circle through the upper deck of the Jungle Cruise queue. Decided we are just going to bite the bullet today and stand in line for the big rides to just get them out of the way.

I have found the pull down beds to be very comfortable. I prefer a firmer mattress over a soft one. But they were for sure much better than a pull out sofa type bed.
You will love the new tower!

Thank you very much for the answer. The rooms and the tower look awesome!!!

Arrived back home last night from our DL trip. Crowds got better through the weekend. Saturday felt like it was a comfortable crowd. Not too crowded. Sunday was definitely light crowds. Ride wait times were low all day long.

One thing that shocked me is the amount of times rides were going down through out the day. Pirates was down almost all day on Friday and for the beginning of the day on Saturday. It felt like ROTRR and Radiator Springs Racers were constantly going down. The Fantasyland dark rides were up and down all day on Sunday. Same with Indy.

But we had good luck on our trip. Maybe it was the bird that pooped on my shoulder in the Matterhorn queue on our first ride of our trip. The lady behind me told us it was good luck. We ended up dodging the closures all weekend long. They either went down after we got off, got a good for any time G+ reservation because it was down, or arrived at the ride as soon as it went back up. On top of that, I lost my Disney World magic band I was using at Disneyland, on the first night. I filed a lost and found report online. Next day I got an email that it had been found. The email came just as I was looking to buy a new one.

We arrive early next week and now questioning our 1st nights stay. Flying into LGB around 11:30am, planned to drop the boys off at the USS Iowa for the rest of the day, then the girls have time to explore or do something. Right now I have a hotel booked in the DL area, but we would have to go there, hang out, then return to Long Beach area to get the boys, then back. Now I'm thinking we haven't done any beach trips this year yet....maybe we should book a beach hotel along the coast for the night and we could spend the day there.

Don't want to spend a fortune, so would be good with a hotel with a pool and walking distance to the beach. Nice beach area with restaurants nearby is a plus. Any suggestions?

We know we will be on east coast time so we won't be up late that first night. Just need a place to rest our head, preferably not too from from Long Beach area (but we aren't afraid to do a little driving) and then next day we plan to be up early and head directly to Disneyland Hotel.
