July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Hee Hee...well...it has been an interesting morning.

Anyone who wants a Crystal Palace lunch on 7/20 -- 15 spots just opened up along with the 9:15 breakfast for 11.

I was able to snag an 8:25 AM ADR for breakfast so I took it. Not quite as early as I would like but still before the park opens. :lmao:

THEN, I came up with a great plan -- or at least I think it's a great plan!

Since we are going to be there Saturday night & basically can check in "whenever" on Sunday...I planned on letting the kids sleep in & then go over and check-in. We will have our tickets. I'm thinking of upgrading mine & the kiddos to a 6-day one -- leave Grandma's at 5 days as she was going to "waste" a day anyway....then we can do Sunday as our "Character Day".

Basically go hit the parks and go just to see the characters & pretty much get a lot of them out of the way -- I was thinking that would be a great day to see Rapunzel & Flynn because it wouldn't matter about the line & whoever else we come across....since I know my sister won't get down to FL until probably 6 or 7 pm....we obviously will still see characters throughout the rest of the week but it will make touring easier I think on the rest of the days with the entire family. We are going to make a list of the "who do you want to see" and try to hit those up that day.

So far I know my older DS said Stitch and younger one wants Toy Story people....my middle son doesn't care but he's a go with the flow kid.

I'm pretty excited about this plan because I think it will take some pressure off the other days and it will be a super relaxing day since it's just a "eh, we are here until sister calls" and we get in what we get in as it's a bonus.

Speaking of personal gear... I have a LOT of questions!
-Socks! Do you pack extras? How many? We WILL be in socks and sneakers all week, due to injuries and stuff. Do I pack 6 pair? 12 pairs? 9 pairs? (same for undies!)
-How about bras - should I plan on handwashing them each night or just pack one a day? :lmao:

For us, I almost always figure there will be a change of socks and undies everyday. Although, I wear sandals most of the time, so not as many socks for me. If we head back to the hotel at all, and back out again... you can guarantee I have freshened up and changed clothes. Of course, we do laundry while we are there too. So, if you aren't doing laundry, definitely pack extra!

Also, I'm a total failure as a girl. I don't wear make-up. However, what had been diagnosed as rosacea is just EXTREMELY dry skin. Putting on moisturizer in the morning (with a very low SPF) has done WONDERS for my skin... should I continue to use it and then top it off with a stronger sunblock?!

What's this thing you call make-up? My cheecks turn bright red if I am even the slightest bit hot, so I already look like I have put too much blush on in the summer. No need for extra make-up on top of it. As for the moisturizer, I think it depends on your skin type. For instance, I am the fairest of them all. :rotfl2: However, it seems that any SPF at all is enough to keep me from the sun. One year I went to the beach and tried to tan with an 8 SPF designed to tan.... the other person with me was bronze... me? White as snow! So, the 15 SPF moisturizer is all I ever use, and it is enough. For those of you who will be at the July 10th Dismeet, don't forget your sunglasses to block the glare of the sun off of my skin! I pretty much just give up on trying to be tan... and go with the white look all year round. :rotfl:

WHAT AM I FORGETTING TO BUY?! I bought SPF lip balm! I bought a portable package of hand wipes!

I am not sure what you have forgotten. However, if you only bought lip balm and hand wipes, I am going to say you are forgetting a lot. :lmao:

:dance3::banana: 9 DAY DANCE!! :banana::dance3:

To on-line check in or not???That is the question....

Did it in 2009 at CBR and it was ok. the person in front of us asked a million questions so it wasn't that speedy. This time we are staying at BCV...first villa trip so I don't know if it matters or not. WE are getting there about noon so it is too early to check in....what should I do????

Oooh that magnet idea is a good idea ^_^ Though, I don't think I have magnets to use ... we'll see.

Decorating Resort Room Link
Ta da! It's a long thread. I haven't read through all of it but I have come upon some nice little gems during my browsing ^_^

Thanks for the link! I will be looking for more ideas! I bought some magnet tape at a craft store, cut it up and put it on the back of the heads...only they don't hold anything to anything (DD's tried to use them to hold up papers from school and it didn't work out to well)

My granddaughter Abygail turns 4 today and she just asked if we could go to Disney World today instead of waiting. Sure wish I lived close enough to make that possible.

Have any of you had luck with the Disney Gift cards you buy at stores that aren't Disney (Dillons/Kroger). Want to get Aby one for her Birthday but don't want to find out it doesn't work aftr we get there. Maybe I'll just give her cash, that might be safer.

So excited that it is getting closer just hope I'll be ready when it actually gets here.:dance3:

I bought some 100 dollar GC's at Sam's club that came with a 10 dollar Disney Store GC. I called the number on the back to make sure they had the money on them and sure enough, they are good to go.

Becky~ So glad everything worked out in the end and your doing CP in the morning before the park opens like you wanted to :thumbsup2

FlipFlopMom~ LOL yep we are strangers in the night :rotfl2: I'm driving down to my mom's to wait for DH. I'm thinking of staying the night of the 4th either in Clark's Summit PA or in Gettysburg PA. I hope the SUV is in good enough condition to drive so that way your not cramped in the KIA. I have a Town and Country so the only issue I have to deal with is separating fighting kiddo's. As it stand's right now, ODD is sitting in the passenger seat next to me, and then I have my 2 stow and go seat's stowed with the back bench seat up and both MDD and YDD's in their car seats back there (on a garbage bag for spills).

Julie~ I know your already on your way, but I hope you have a GREAT trip!

Grey~ My DH was just told that the locals would be doing their laundry. Apparently though they don't clean it well enough. Still when he get's home it will be to new sox, underwear and shirts as well as a few new uniforms (especially because I hacked up one of his uniform pants to make bag's with :rolleyes1)

7 more day's until I pick up the Tshirt's that the kiddo's and I are wearing to the airport to pick up DH! I also get the materials for the DISmeet gifts and get them finished off. I have to re-sweep and mop my floor's, clean out a cooler for the drive down to VA and make sure that the garbage goes out and there is nothing in the can. And I just ran into a snag on my driving down plan....the garbage man comes on TUESDAY! Unless I can ask my neighbor to bring my can back up I won't be able to leave on Monday  I think I know someone I can ask though!

WHAT AM I FORGETTING TO BUY?! I bought SPF lip balm! I bought a portable package of hand wipes!

I normally (for any trip) pack extras of everything, socks, undies, shorts, shirts, etc. I am planning on bringing 3 or 4 bras

I use Bare Minerals over a moisturizer that has an SPF in it and I'm usually good all day when it comes to my face.

I'm a total failure too! The only make-up I own is mascara and that only gets used once a year...or less. So at least we don't have to worry about our faces melting half way through the morning. I am addicted to lip balm though. My daily lip balm is SPF 15 but I'm fair skinned and a little worried about my lips burning or worse blistering (the horror!). I think you should continue to use your moisturizer and then add something stronger on top, just use a product geared towards sensitive skin.

I swear the Bare minerals stays put no matter how hot/humid it gets.

2 weeks from today, we'll be on our way!!!! YAY!!!!

 :yay:  :yay:

Happy Birthday, Abygail!!!!! My Allison was very close to being an Abigail, I absolutely love the name.

Love, love, love Old Navy! Unfortunately, they closed BOTH of the Old Navy's that were near us, so now we have to make a day of it and go to the mall an hour away just to go. Nice thing is, there's also the closest Disney Store there :cutie:

We have Old Navy but all of our Disney stores closed a few years ago. I don't think we have one in driving distance.

FINALLY MADE IT TO THE TEENS!!! 19 MORE DAYS:woohoo::banana::cheer2:

I think it is a great plan as long as everyone understands you are going just to see characters.

That is my dilemma, too. I did it last time and it worked except I didn't get my requests. This time I don't have any requests but am secretly hoping for some magic because I did note on our reservation that it is our 20th.

Okay.. today was a "Disney day".

After going out to lunch with my mom, I stopped at AAA to pick up my Mickey Mail!!! Yay! My actual TA wasn't there, so it was someone else. With the package I booked I was supposed to get a $25 gift card and a Disney Carry on luggage. I did not get these. Boooo.... I felt bad bothering this TA because she was just filling in for mine. But, she did find out that I get the GC at check in. Yay! And, I suppose she has to order the carry-on from corporate. I am not too worried about the carry-on because it is a child's bag. BUT, I still want it since it was part of the package. (and there will be a child in our house one day to use it). I suppose as far as snags go, this was a small one. So, we are all set to go!

I then picked up all the extra little stuff from Wal-mart today. I still just have a couple of random things that they did not have.

I also found at dollar tree some great Disney Princess stickers. It was a pad of over 400 stickers! I thought it would be great for Mousekeeping tip envelopes. I'll also will be setting aside TS tips in advance and may put little notes with that and add the stickers! Then, my neices get to benefit from the rest! They love their stickers. :cheer2:

And now.... time for a nap! :rolleyes1

How many of us are attending the July 10th meet (not all family members, just numbers of families)? I want to make sure I have enough for everyone.

:banana::banana::banana: For getting your Mickey Packet!

Ok, this is the response I got from my TA about my Mickey mail on the 22nd

"No worries, I actually checked on it yesterday and it shipped to me Monday, so expect to receive it today or tomorrow! DH is certainly deserving of the R&R, glad you are able to make it happen!"

Today is the 24th, and still no Mickey Mail :sad1: Now did she mean that she would receive it on the 22nd or 23rd? Because the wording she uses sounds like she had already put it in the mail to me. I just hope it come's sometime next week.

I found a friend to bring my garbage can into my garage the day we arrive @ my mom's house :woohoo: But I found out that the lid to my cooler is now missing so I get to buy a new one of those on the first. I feel like I'm forgetting something but I'm not sure what:confused3

I did make one ADR for Planet Hollywood at 2PM on 7/14. I thought we may as well use the $15 voucher we received in our package.

I added it to the list on page 134!

My granddaughter Abygail turns 4 today and she just asked if we could go to Disney World today instead of waiting. Sure wish I lived close enough to make that possible.

Happy Birthday Abygail!!

My daughter turns 7 next week. We're having her party tomorrow. She asked for a Mickey & Minnie party. She's also asked both her grandmas and a few other people for cash for her birthday to take to Disney World. This is a child who usually spends her allowance ($2 a week) on dollar stuff at Target as soon as she gets it. She's been saving all her money for months now, sold some of her toys at a yard sale and made a little more $, won a coloring contest at school for which she got $2, and she's managed to save about $40 so far!

Good for her!!!:thumbsup2

I have done it and it was fine, but when I have not, it did not seem to matter much. I do not think I am doing it this year, because I am worried about our room location. DH is still having a hard time walking and I would like a room close to the elevators......so in case we have to change it. I also want to have our park tickets removed from our room key so we can upgrade to APs..........

If you are getting there at noon - your room still might be ready, I have heard that is more likely with online check in since they know when to expect you.

Thanks

With a feather in your teeth, of course! :dumbo:
Precisely!

Thanks for the link! I will be looking for more ideas! I bought some magnet tape at a craft store, cut it up and put it on the back of the heads...only they don't hold anything to anything (DD's tried to use them to hold up papers from school and it didn't work out to well)
You're welcome ^_^ They have tons! I would suggest making a garland of sorts (or as many as you want), expecially if you already have string and markers ^_^
Shame about the magnets though :( I saw people use like magnet 'paper' of sorts, maybe that would help instead?

Either way, I hope you have a beautifully decorated room! :D

:dance3:

What date? We are doing this on 7/31pirate:

I got it for the 24th

I love stickers LOL

Well I'm done with my 7 goody bags. Now I'm off to create the "flag".

7 is our final number? Just checking :)

I love stickers LOL

Yeah, I thought someone on here might be interested in the stickers. They had Tinkerbell, Princesses, and Cars. If I had kids, I definitely would have bought more.... a $1.00 for 400 stickers. Can't beat that! lol.

Watched Hook with my daughter (well and my son, but he was playing Angry Birds too :thumbsup2 short attention span)

Anyway my daughter LOVED it! I am so happy because I love that movie!!!!

Can't wait for Pirates and Pals cruise now!!! They watched the original cartoon Peter Pan and now Hook :) WOOHOO!

PS I have nothing else I can really do to get ready and it is bugging me ... ok well I could clean more ... but I much prefer to procrastinate on that one :rotfl:

Forget the cleaning, watch Hook again. I watched it again last week. One of my favorite movies and dd loves it, too. We've been kind of in pirate mode lately. Besides Hook, we have also watched all 3 Pirates dvd's. I think that's her reason for wanting to be a pirate LOL!

hehe you are not helping my procrastinating!!!

We have never seen ANY of the POTC movies! Crazy huh? Are they all appropriate for kiddos? Is it like the fighting scenes in Hook, no blood or anything? My duaghter is a bit of a scaredy cat .... we don't really let her watch anything too out there ...
