July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Hello all!

I'm so very happy to be joining this board! Hubby and I just booked our trip for July 17-23 and we're super excited. We haven't been for 6 years when our kids were pretty small. They are now 7,9,11 and over the moon with excitement.

We are staying outside the park and hoping to hit a few other hot spots such as Universal and Seaworld.

This will be a very different trip than last time when we spent most of our time in ToonTown!

Jen :)

I'm going to join in here too! Our family loves WDW! It will be 4 of us, DH, me, DS4 and DS7. The past 4 times we've been there, it's been in January at the Poly. We are used to cooler weather and low crowd levels, so this will be an adjustment for us. Since we were just there in January, we aren't going to feel as pressured to do everything. (At least that's what I tell myself) We usually avoid the park with EMH, but do try to be there at rope drop. I think we might have to plan for AM EMH now though, to get that extra cooler hour in the morning. I'm still torn on that, as I think the park with EMH would be more crowded...

A lot of firsts for us this time.

No stroller. In January we pushed a double stroller around while the kids fought in it, and then at night they weren't tired! I'm not sure about the DS4. I predict he'll be asking to be carried before we even get in the park!

We are driving. We usually fly, but airfare for 4 adds up quick, and since it's our 2nd trip this year, trying to keep the cost down. We usually drive to Myrtle Beach in the summer, so we figure we are already over half way to WDW... how bad can it be?

We were going to stay off-site, trying to keep costs down to justify going again already, so I had decided on Wyndham Bonnet Creek, and then DH suggests staying at a value resort. Doesn't he realize the stress that causes my overthinking mind? I just can't bring myself to a book a value resort, when compared to staying off site in a 2 bedroom suite... I'm hoping for a special, but in the meantime we are booked for SSR, which I'll probably change in a few days to CBR! The CM talked me into SSR because they were offering a special rate there, but I didn't know anything about the resort! I booked it, figuring I can always change it. Things were so much easier when we stayed at the Poly! I'm so spoiled now!

Whew! Sorry! To sum it up - we plan to arrive July 9th, leaving July 15th, driving to Myrtle Beach, and then staying there for 3 nights.

I'm still kicking myself for not insisting we upgrade to AP when we were there in January. Definately need to get them this time.

~April

We drive from PA too - airfare for four is ridiculous right now. We are near Pittsburgh. We usually do it in 2 days. Our kids are older, so we can push them a little more. Last summer we made it to the GA/FLA border on the first day. That made for a short trip on day 2.

We had a week at Kidani Village last year so I was sure Disney was out for this year at least....but.....since we are going to the beach.......we are stopping for 2 days on the way down!!!!! Its not long but I'll take it!!

We will be at BLT July 5th and 6th:))

WELL HELLO ALL! I am happy to be joining this little group that is a willing to brave the heat for Disney! We are going as a grand gathering, 16 of us!, July 7th-14th. It will be my daughters first trip at the young age of 15 months! With a group this large we had to get our ADRs early so those are out of the way :) I can post what they are if anyone is interested :confused3 We get hoppers so there isn't a TON of planning that goes into our trips, we just kinda go with what we want to do and if that park is busy we just hop on over to another :) Oh and I guess I should mention we are staying at BC :)

forever11709: Congrats on your trip! I would love to hear about your ADR's. :) And enjoy the Beach Club! I stayed at ther Yacht Club in January and we loved it! Stormalong Bay is wonderful. :cloud9:

Looking forward to hearing about your plans :D
We too will be there in the heat of the summer! July 9 - 15th this year at the Boardwalk!! Waitlisted for Beach Club, but I cancelled that and stuck with the Boardwalk since we never stayed there before. Of course the kids wanted Stormalong Bay - but being at Disney should be enough!! Can't wait!
I fully agree!

Did anyone else see the email about free dining in July?!

We were able to get free quick service dining (for moderates/value) and then "upgrade" to the normal dining plan... and saved a BOATLOAD!

:banana::banana::banana:
I got a free dining pin code but it's under my maiden name :laughing: I've been married for 11 years almost now! Were military though so were taking advantage of that discount...40% off rooms and reduced dining plan rate DxDp here I come!
Congrats to you all! :thumbsup2 I'm excited to hear what all of your ADR's are!!! :)

Joining the July Board - finally! I got the free dining pin and was able to book today. We will be there from July 12- July 23 staying at the Boardwalk Inn. This is our third July in a row - I am so excited to finally be booked!!! Now I have to figure out all the ADRs!
Hey Tinkerbell, you and I will be there at the same time! Were going to be at the WL though.
Well..... we're in the planning stages! July 11th-14th. :cool1:

3 adults (myself, wife, and my sister) and 2 kids for a short getaway. 3 of us have never been to WDW. Lots and lots of firsts :)

Can't wait and can't wait to learn all about planning - so far we're looking at Port Orleans (Riverside) with the dinning plan (1 sitdown). :littleangel:
Don't try to do everything on this trip that's what other trips are for :thumbsup2 Happy planning!
I am in!!!! :goodvibes
BLT from July 26-Aug 1

I soooo wish I could stay longer!! I see everyone on here staying for 10-14 days! I used to go to disney all the time growing up (used to live in florida). It never was a big deal to me until....I moved to north east had a baby, grew up! Now Its ALL I THINK ABOUT!!! I love planning!!!

Nice to meet you all!!!!
:flower3:
Were only staying for a week and I soo wish we could stay longer! DH only has 2 weeks of leave though and my parent's want to spend some time with him too.

Don't forget to take breaks during the hotest part of the day to get away from the crowds and eat lunch in places with AC.

My DH let me know that he DID get his leave dates changed out with another soilder :banana: which makes me a very happy DW. I've added WCC to our ADR list as well as Yak & Yeti (We ate there on our trip last July and it was soo nice! I cant wait to have a Yak Attack this time around ) So it's WCC @ 12:40 on the 14th and Yak & Yeti @ 1PM on the 19th of July. I also ordered a specialty cake for our 1900 Park Fare ressie (had the dining line push that one back to 8:05pm so we can spend more time in Epcot on our Anniversary). It's going to be Haunted Mansion themed, yellow cake with baverian creme and strawberries :cloud9: I also ordered my kiddo's 2 princess box cakes for Crystal Palace the night we arrive (I'm begining to think some things are becoming Tradition with us lol). So far were down to 133 days until were @ WDW! :yay::yay::yay:

Thanks for the welcome! Were you on the July '10 Board too? I love WL - we have stayed there 3 times, but the rooms are getting a little small for growing kids. We need the extra space you get at the Boardwalk.

We're flying in on June 29 and July 9, so we're on both the June 2011 and July 2011 threads. We're staying offsite.

Wow I can't believe all our new friends. I hadn't really been able to log on to the DIS for almost a week. We have all been struck with the dreaded FLU:sick: but we are slowly recovering. Just thinking about our vacation helps.:goodvibes

Last night DH called me and told me that he DID get to switch dates with another soilder! He will arrive in DC on or around the 10th of July which gives him a few days to unwind before he has to get on another plane ::

That is great news. One less thing to worry about now:thumbsup2

:welcome: Definately try the EMH AM. They are not really as crowded as you would think. We usually go during April vacation when the parks are crowded and we have been able to get alot done in those early hours.

I am in!!!! BLT from July 26-Aug 1

So if we are posting our ADRs here is my list. We are staying our 1st night at BC and not on the dining plan then spending 13 nights at AKL so I was able to book 12 meals:cool1:

7/20 TREX (oop)
7/21 Boma's - dinner
7/22 Garden Grill
7/23 SciFi (we might cancel this one)
7/24 Ohana's dinner
7/25 Tusker House Bfast
7/26 Ohana's bfast
7/27 No ADRs planned going to IoA
7/28 1900 PF bfast & Mama Melrose Fantasmic Pkg
7/29 CRT dinner
7/30 Chef Mickey's dinner
7/31 LTT- dinner
8/01 Whispering Canyon
8/02 Via Napoli

So we might cancel the SciFi one or just get dessert as this one would have to be OOP because I added 1900 PF so we can get to eat with Mary Poppins:goodvibes

Thanks everyone. I am still feeling so sluggish but no more aches and pains. We have become the Tamiflu family:lmao: and Walgreens knows us on a first name basis. DD7 & DS5 are doing much better and just hoping DS3 doesn't come down with it, but he was the only with the Flu shot this year so maybe he is protected.

But I just keep thinking of our trip and how we should all be sickness free :cloud9:

Hi everyone!

We are making this journey this mid-July...this time with a big old family group of 15 people!! :lmao:

Last time we went in 2005 and it was just my family.

We got the PIN code for free dining so I moved over from Shades of Green to Ft. Wilderness Cabins so it should be interesting.

My DH just got a job in January so he isn't coming with us, I'm dragging my mom down in his place. We are driving so it makes DH feel better that there is another adult with me.

We have a private Illuminations party planned for when we are down there since it will be my nephew's birthday that day and he wanted to do EPCOT. It should be a blast.

Thanks for the welcome! Were you on the July '10 Board too? I love WL - we have stayed there 3 times, but the rooms are getting a little small for growing kids. We need the extra space you get at the Boardwalk.

Yep! We went last year for what was supposed to be our 10 year anniversary. The Army had other plans for DH though and he ended up staying in Colorado for a month:mad:. I took the girls though and had my DSis come to help me out with them. We had a blast and sayed @ the WL last time as well. Something about that resort just screams HOME to me KWIM? Were considering the Poly for another trip since our youngest DD is soon going to be out of the pack n play age range.

We stayed at the Poly in July 09 - it is my favorite resort by far. The rooms are huge. I love the boat/monorail transportation to MK and the walk over to the TTC is not bad to get to Epcot. We did stay Club level - and that was awesome too. Last summer we stayed at the CR.....loved that too. We are staying at the BWI this year. There are advantages to being in the Epcot resorts and it has been awhile since we stayed over there. You are right about WL - if the rooms were a little bigger it would be great. I loved Roaring Forks and the resort is so comfortable.

Customized park Maps~ Arrived:banana:

The last one is the final one I have to buy for my youngest DD.

Homemade shirts to wear in the parks for the whole fam~2 sets done, have to buy the plain shirts to do the final few.

Days left until we fly to FL~129:scared1: They are creeping up on me! I'm not done packing for myself or the girls yet!

Just booked my air for arrival on July 18. Flying in to Tampa saved me over $300 for three of us (from Las Vegas). Rental car to get me to Disney cost $50.

Woohoo...on my way!!!

See you there!!!
