July 2010 Big Bdays Family Reunion (Update 9/28 Final Thoughts)

Oh, we didn't take those photos :rotfl:-- they were DISNEY photopass pics. Evidently if you got a picture taken in front of the castle, there was a special bonus and you got free parade and fireworks photos added to your account.:thumbsup2

Oh okay....:rotfl:

WOW long day!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE that there are such great people out there (especially at Disney) to have helped you get the girls' in the strollers over the fence. Sounds like y'all found the perfect way to avoid the mob. Could you imagine how late you'd have been if you'd waited for the ferry or buses??

Except for the long line, visiting the fairies was definitely a highlight. And the decor is really cute with a bunch of puns (kind of like Mickey's house is). I really hope WDW brings back Pixie Hollow into the plans for the Fantasyland Expansion. They could do so much with it!

Rachel did like the pixie dust in her hair. She just wasn't sure what it was and she is always nervous around new things. So the photo is when she hadn't had time yet to adjust to it (or even see it yet).

yeah, I love the Elie pic of her celebrating -- Not! I actually just posted that on the thread of kids hating the characters.

Definitely moving along. I only have two more full days plus the Autotrain ride.

But I need to finish this so I can add more to my November trip report (esp our parade and fireworks day!)

I'm glad you are enjoying!:goodvibes

I love the Kids hating characters thread.

Cracked me up :rotfl2:

Few of posters got on my nerves though saying people should have taken their kids away and not taken pics

Hate people who try and ruin the fun

Not like parents were being mean to their kids. They had no idea how kid was going to react

:goodvibes

Wow Elizabeth did not look like she is a Tink fan. :rotfl:

Nope, she wasn't!

That mob was horrendous. Normally, we just sit and stay about 1 hour later but with small kids we thought we had to get home...next time, we'll just wait it out or go on a night with EMH so not everyone is leaving at the same time.

Yeah, I just ignore those posters. It just seems to me that some parts of DIS just get so negative all the time. Everyone just thinks they have the right and duty to give their opinion, esp if it's to scold or argue with others.

Can't people just let it go? I don't understand.

I mean, I've seen many a post that I don't agree with, but I'm not compelled to reply to every single thing.:confused3

You've been busy! Looks like a fun day. I can't wait for MSEP! Reminds me of my childhood. I have to wonder if the Tink in the parade was the same one you visited in Pixie Hollow.

wow you were on a super POST update groove there....

just LOVE all the pictures of the parade and fireworks...so amazing...

Nathan wanted to know why you were smiling w/ Lotso :rotfl:

Jerry and the faries is so good and the ones of Elizabeth's haircut are too sweet...Naomi-Ruth (will be 4 on our trip) wants to know if she'll be her new friend :goodvibes

you guys had some great MK fun there...doing a ton too....ah yes the MOB scene of leaving MK...eek but glad you made it out ok...

Hey Marshay!

Loving the report so much! Can't wait to see the jumping photo in the Castle!!
Oh by the Way, the first fairy you met wasn't Rosseta it was Fawn! She is the craziest of them all.

Big Hug! Can't wait to hear more about the trip!!!

Well, looking at Lotso, he is cute!

Visiting the fairies was actually Jerry's idea! He wanted to do that last November but we didn't make it. So he was happy to see them this time! Of course, he liked the attention he got being so big!;)

Rachel said she wants to be friends with your daughters too! I showed her your TR pics -- and we have a surprise for you...will post to your TR soon!

OMG!! You are totally correct!! I'm not sure why I wrote Rosetta!! Of course it is Fawn. She was a sweetie!

Thanks for the correction.

And yes, the jumping castle photo was great! I'm currently using it for my avatar on Facebook!

Today is Sunday, July 18th and we decided to go back to DHS ... along with the rest of the people at WDW.

Seriously this was B-U-S-Y. I'd say it was our most crowded day yet. Jerry was talking to one of the tour guides and was told that there were 21 tour groups today.:scared1:

We had planned to use our last GAD Fast Pass here so we stayed in the park. Now my parents and sister's family had gone to a Comfort Inn over the weekend to save on DVC points, so we made it to DHS first. My parents had the GAD voucher so we were just waiting for them to get to the park. We decided to see how crowded TSM was and the line was super long so we skipped it. Jerry and Rachel rode on Star Tours.

Photo0330.jpg

Meanwhile, I get a phone call from my parents that there is no ice in the machines at Comfort Inn. They had brought a ton of food with them and now had no way to keep it cold. So my dad goes to Wal-Mart for ice.

Guess what? Wal-mart ran out of ice!

Finally dad gets some ice at another store and they head to DHS. However, by now, my mom can't find the GAD voucher paperwork and it's not a pretty sight.

My mom finally "has seen the light" and says that they aren't doing this stay 5 days at WDW and then check out for 2 days and then check back in again to WDW. They'll just go shorter and stay the whole time in one room.

I agree! We had done the switching for our first DVC and we found that you lose a LOT of time packing, unpacking, repacking, unpacking, changing resorts, checking out, checking in, etc. I know it works for many, but with small children or people who pack a lot, it's a lot of wasted time.

Anyway, my mom finally finds the paperwork and thankfully, the CM at DHS don't give her any problems getting the extra GAD passes.

We all meet up and see Muppets and then Dad goes back to BWV to check-in and Mom and my family walk around.

Rachel sees the CARS characters so we wait for a pic.

I love these pictures with Rachel, LM and her dog "Boomer", so I'm posting both

Then it's off to Hollywood and Vine for their Playhouse Disney Character Meal. We ate here in '08 and Rachel loved it and wanted to again. The food is really good for a buffet and the character interactions are great -- they get up and sing and dance about every 15 minutes.

Rachel loves it

Elizabeth ... not so much.

But near the end of lunch, Jo Jo started playing peek-a-boo with her and she was laughing at that
DSC_9616.jpg

After lunch, we see The Little Mermaid and ride Toy Story Mania. Everyone loves these two.

Then Jerry and I do the child swap for RnR. However, Rachel says that she wants to try ToT. I say, sure!

She goes on but she doesn't really like the drop! But I'm so proud of her for trying it!

Then she tells me, "Mommy, I want to go on Splash Mountain again ... 5x in a row!"

I'm thinking -- what? I had to practically drag her on the ride yesterday and turn in my mommy card and now she wants to go again? And yesterday we had 4-5 FPs to ride it and now we have none and aren't even in MK???

We ride Toy Story again and then go to the Animation Building for more photos. I had heard that a bunch of characters come out at 5pm.

Oh, we also saw Annie. I can't remember if this was today or the 1st day. We had always seen June and Leo and had gotten Quincy, but for some reason had missed Annie. When I saw she was out, I called Jerry to come back and take Rachel to see Annie (Elie was sleeping on a bench so I couldn't go.)
DSC_9660.jpg

Then we decided to call it a night. I had wanted to stay for the dance party that night but we were just too tired. We got to see a little bit of it on the way out. Looked like lots of fun.

Sadly, tomorrow is our last full day at WDW.

those are fantastic pictures!! LOVE TDee & TDum, y'all DO match :rotfl:

Elie is too cute with the characters. I have to giggle seeing her so upset by them and then starting to laugh. I'm sure she'll really come around next trip!

Like Cheri I get a big kick out of how Elie is with the characters. I am sure by next trip she will be more in the swing with them. Her smile is just great.

Yeah, I hope she starts to like them...at least a little for our Nov trip. If not, then I'll just continue to :rotfl2: at her!

Yeah, she really didn't like them except for a few like Fawn and JoJo ... oh, and as you'll see in my next edition, that other character whom I choose not to name.:rotfl2:

Ooh I can hardly wait!!

Glad you were able to use those Fast passes and get some rides done

Trent went on TOT one time, too. That was enough for him. He didnt like the way drop made his stomach feel. But like you, I am proud he at least tried, like Rachel did :thumbsup2

I loved looking at Ele Reaction in each pic with characters

I, too think she will come around by next trip :goodvibes

I am excited to see the Character who shall not be named

I'm on FB too...look me up sometime

My little girls and I enjoyed looking at the all the character pictures, we experienced one of those character explosions in the Animation hub too...it what very fun.

And they were wondering why Elie liked Jo-Jo and not Handy Manny ;)...we did that in 08 too and really liked it!

Ooh I can hardly wait!!

I hope to have tomorrow. I'm really trying to complete this report so I can work more on November! I never had two reports going at once before...hard to keep up. But I'm glad you all are enjoying it.

Yep, that's what Rachel said about ToT. Elie had a whole repartoire (sp!) of faces with the characters!

If we didn't have the FP on this very crowded day, we wouldn't have gotten anything done! We were so fortunate...now for our Nov trip, we won't have the special passes .. bummer! We got used to them sooooo quickly!

Good question! I guess b/c Jo Jo looks like a rag doll that Rachel has? Or it could just be that Jo Jo bent down to Elizabeth's level and Handy Manny just stood, so he was much bigger.

Elie did much better when she was face to face with the characters and they weren't looming over her.

Today is Monday, July 19th

We decided to go back to AK for a short morning. We went on the Safari and Everest again and then Rachel played around in the Boneyard. This area is really neat for kids to climb and run and dig up bones and go in caves, etc. It was also very hot out again so I found a place in one of the dinosaur fossils that had water shooting out of it and drenched my entire head ... several times!! Oh, it felt good.

Then we went back to our room to snack, do final packing and rest. We had an early (4:35pm) dinner at Crystal Palace in MK.

Jerry, I and the girls arrived early so we got a picture in front of MK. Believe it or not, we have never done that before. It has always been too crowded.
Photo0391.jpg

Then I checked out the FP distribution time on my Unofficial Guide Touring program on my phone for Splash Mountain and they were still available. Since Rachel really wanted to go back on Splash and I saw the train was there, I ran up the ramp only knocking over 2 people (just kidding) and took the train over to Splash Mountain, got FPs for us and then headed back over to Crystal Palace.

Now I had never been here before (well, only as a kid) b/c if you don't know already, I have a thing against Winnie the Pooh. I just don't like him. And not too crazy about Piglet, Tigger or Eeyore.

However, Rachel used to watch a bunch of My Friends Tigger and Pooh so I like them a little better now.

DSC_9748.jpg

Ok, I 'had' to get a picture with WtP ... but I don't have to enjoy it!
DSC_9749.jpg

Now wouldn't you know it? Out of all the characters, here comes the one she is all excited about -- look at her expression:
DSC_9776.jpg

Who is it? Any guesses?? Yes, the only one she kept smiling for and really wanted to touch was ...

Now Elizabeth's room is a jungle theme so she is used to seeing tigers. She wasn't sure of Tigger at first, but once we got Tigger to play peek-a-boo, Elie loved it!

Look at that smile on Elizabeth's face!

We celebrated both Rachel and my birthdays at CP. Here they are singing to both of us. Obviously at the "Happy Birthday dear Marsha" part.

Rachel got a special Happy Birthday from Pooh on the 2nd time he came around.

See this is another reason why I don't like WtP. I'm not sure what he is trying to do, but get away from my tatas, Pooh!
DSC_9816.jpg

Nope, I still don't like him
DSC_9818.jpg

The food was good at CP, but my mom said it wasn't nearly as good as previous years. I was impressed by the steamed seafood they had, so I just loaded up on Steamed clams, mussels and shrimp. I think I had 3 plates of that, along with some other food. Usually a buffet makes the steamed seafood all chewy and hard from sitting out too long, but these were really, really good.

Afterwards, everyone wanted to go do something different, but I said, let's go to the castle and get some photopass pictures. It's my family's last day (my parents and sister's family would stay another few days) and we still didn't have a group photo of everyone. The 10 of us were only together about 3-4 times in the past 9 days. We got to get a group picture before we leave!

Cont'd in next post.

The look on Elizabeth's face when she saw Pooh was great. She has such a great smile. Both of your girls do. I love your photos with Pooh too. Great clowning.

We found a very, lovely and extremely friendly and patient photopass photographer to take a W-h-o-l-e bunch of pictures for us. Here they are:

Since we were all wearing different colors, I decided to show this one in b&w
