July 2007 Rate/Code Watch

Ya know I hadn't run the numbers if the discount came out, so there may be no Poly for us either.

I may need to sit down a put together a quick spreadsheet to figure out what the price break we would need to be in order to jump back to the Poly or upgrade the view or to CL at WL. We've done two rooms at the Poly GVC without too much forethought and were pretty shocked by the bill, even with the AAA discount. :scared1: We should not have been if we had run the math ahead of time.

I've heard neary a rumor as yet...

Are the codes and rates talked about in this thread only for AP Holders? And are they for room only rates? Sorry, just a bit confused. :confused3

I would like to visit WDW in July, but would also like to save as much as possible. Since I am new to this, of course I have some questions. I keep reading about codes, etc. and plan on calling the 1-800 number to see if there is anything "attached to my name" whatever that means! If there is a pin# attached to my name, what kind of discount will I receive? Also, I'm guessing that AP means annual pass? Do you have to actually have an annual pass to use the code that is intended for it? :confused3

No. I believe they can be codes or rates for anything. We all hope for something...but I don't think it will happen. It will be a great surprise if there is a little something extra.:cool1:

jjohnson.. YES! I did notice that it no longer goes to 6/2. I just logged on to the passholders site, and its only showing the AP rate good until May 24th! UGH!!! I wanted to get some prices for June too! :badpc:

They did the same thing last year for Memorial Day weekend. That's when we went & I was glad we got the AP right away before it had disappeared.

PINs attached to your name would vary depending on the PIN offer. Recently, people have been receiving postcards with PINs for a 40% discount. I have no idea what kind of rhyme or reason Disney uses to distribute PINs to particular people.

You are correct that AP refers to annual pass. My understanding is that you need to have an active annual pass when you check into the hotel. I seem to recall that an AP voucher may be acceptable as well but am not sure.

You can check out the information at Mousesavers.com for a good general run down on WDW resort discounts. Here's the link:

I hope this helps some.

I just booked our trip for 6/24-6/29. The CM told me not to get my hopes up for any discounts for that time.

That is what they said last year and we got AP and FL Res rates in for the summer!

is when we'll be happily at WDW. Staying at the fabulous Poly, probably lagoon view room (booking any day now!!) and probably paying way too much from the sounds of things here. What does AP mean? Where do I get one?

Anyone else at the Poly July 1-8?

I recently learned of the dates of Gay/Lesbian week and want to know if anyone thinks this is a bad time to travel with family. I read an article posted by the webmaster of this site, and I am considering changing my airfare/etc. to avoid this week. Any feedback is appreciated.

It all depends on your comfort level..My daughter goes to school with people who have 2 mommies and it isn't a big deal to her..
having said that, I totally agree with Pete..I think that some of the people who go to Gay Pride week are acting out to be flashy..I went a few years ago and there was a man, dressed in leather short shorts with a dog collar and a leash that his partner was holding..that isn't appropriate for a straight couple to be doing..there also was alot of blatant, in your face groping..again, I wouldn't do that with my husband

It is unfortunate that these very few..and they are just a few..that give a bad name to the week.
I watched the Rosie cruise and thought that was really what gay pride week should be like, families having a good time together..

flame away!

I was there with my daughters on a girls only trip last year during that time. The people we saw that were part of the group were all very nice. I didn't see any of the rowdiness that is posted on the page you referenced. But we weren't staying at any of the official group hotels, either. If people didn't have on the red tshirts, I wouldn't have known by being in the parks that there was a group event going on. Seemed like any other Disney vacation.

We did see a few (5-6) t-shirts that were too explicit for my taste and did cause a few conversations with my teenager.

I'm a Southern Baptist, BTW, and we had a great trip during that week. As I said, this trip was like all of our others. People are people.

We have been before and we went to the gaydays website and just went to opposite parks than the groups and it worked out fine.

Thank you all for the feedback, and for doing so kindly, I was a little nervous of offending someone. I think we will just leave as is because it sounds like most of the time, my children won't even notice. Thanks again.

I sometimes wonder how much info CM's really have or are they guessing. I just booked my trip from June 29-July 7 and my CM said I will probably be able to get an AP discount soon. I certainly am crossing my fingers and hoping!

Hi Beth---We'll be there too the first week of July. Right now I have AKL booked, but if a good AP (Annual Passholder) rate comes out, we're thinking we might like to try a monorail resort.

See ya in WDW!!!

The AKL looks so beautiful and exotic...we like the Poly, too, because its relaxing and right on the monorail, and has the boat transportation, too. Do you have little ones you're traveling with? I have a 17 yo ds and 12yo dd. DD is so excited, she's been looking forward to this trip since our last trip in 2002.

I have to look into these AP rates, it sounds like they offer a good discount...

See you at Disney!!:hippie:

Beth
