I posted a few there myself My dd hasn't emailed (Alexa, Jennifer, Melissa) anyone because was wrapped up in her school play rehearsals as well as planning her sweet sixteen next month! She is planning a 60's "hippie" theme (kinda strange for a sweet 16, but that's my Katie). Here is a pic. from her play this weekend, "Damn Yankees". She's the one holding the "Joe" sign.

On a side note, I think we're getting snow here tomorrow!!! Woot!

Hi Laura I do check that thread when I get time. I will get back to checking it soon. I love to see everyone's pictures! What a great picture of your DD! I have a band kid, and one that hasn't found her niche yet. She needs to be on stage. I see the pictures of everyone's teenagers, and mine look like Amazon Women compared to them! My oldest (Sara 14) is 5'9", my youngest (Jessie 13) is 5'8"! This does, however, make them easy to find in a crowd.

I had planned to do some cruise shopping this weekend, but got up to snow today. Kind of takes the fun out of it. I know, snow, Nebraska, should expect it. Not this year.

I'm not sure if this is still the topic, but my parents, husband, and I are going on this cruise. My parents have never been on a cruise, and we've never been on the 7 night, so we're excited! We're all DVC members, so we're using our points to do this one.

So I've been reading some of these boards, and after putting 2 and 2 together, it looks like we might have a chance to get an early screening of of the Caribbean 2 on this cruise since the movie comes out on July 7. What do you think?

Wow, it'll be here before you know it! My youngest (DD 7) has decided she might try Expedition Everest (she hasn't done any thrill rides at all yet) while my oldest (DD 11) still refuses the Haunted Mansion (never mind she watches "A Series of Unfortunate Events" ever night!).

I just wish Southwest would start taking summer bookings! They still won't book past 6/9!

I also hope they reopen Pirates before the "official" reopening of 7/7. I'd like to see how they work Cap. Jack into the ride (and if all the rumors are true). Don't mind seeing Davy Jones (the tentacle haired ghost, not the Monkee) - he's cool looking. Reminds me of my favorite monster from fiction - Cthulhu (if you've never heard of it, just google - you'll get about 2,720,000 hits!).

I bet we get sent to Costa Maya instead of Cozumel. Anyone heard of good excursions there?

That is the kind of snow we have missed this year! Thanks for the picture. I think the storm started with us. We just got it wound up, and sent it your way! We got a "dusting". Just enough to cover the grass, and the streets briefly. In one way, I miss snow, but snow means cold, so I don't miss it all that much!

Have you had a mild winter too? We've been in the 50's and 60's on some days the last month!!! Today it's 25 degrees here and my littlest one lasted about 15 minutes out there because he kept purposely falling into the snow face first! Ahh...good times!

We have had an insanely mild winter! Warmest January in recorded history in Nebraska. We have had only one or two small snow events, and those were all in November, I think. Nothing like you and Deb got this weekend. We can use the moisture, but did have rain about a month ago. It was cold all weekend, with wind chills and everything! Sometimes I forget this is NE in the winter. Next weekend, however, we are looking at highs in the low teens, and snow. Of course, that all may change between now and then. I would love to have a job I only have to be right 50% of the time. My kids are jealous, they want a snow day.

We're a little shy, and probably will be going on excursions with the family at every port. Our DD (12) would like to find other girls who enjoy board games for the days at sea. Our DD(9) will probably spend some time in the lab during the days at sea, and is expressing an interest in girls "just to play around".

This is our second cruise. We went on a 3 night last July. DD(12) didn't like the lab much, except for the art lesson (it was crowded, and if you didn't get on a computer game, you were just hanging around with kids you didn't know, which was awkward), but DD(9) liked the lab.

Welcome to the group! I have a DD turning 16 this month and DS (13) who likes girls, so who knows We also went on a 3 night last July (14-17) and he went to the lab a few times but when he followed dd to the teen club, he decided he liked that better. He was 12 at the time, just two months shy of 13 and your dd may want to "upgrade" as well? The CM's were great about making the switch for him. Welcome Funfoody! My dd's are 13 & 14, but I'm sure my 13 year old would love to meet your dd who is 12. She is more of an active kind of person, but I'm sure she would be more than happy to have your daughter with her. She is a mother hen type, and loves to play with kids of all ages. She is the most popular babysitter on the street.

Laura - I'm not jealous, but my kids might be. That is a LOT of snow! It's about 50 here today. The wind is kind of cold, but we have 2 final days of nice weather before the cold and snow move in. I'm not looking forward to dealing with real winter again. Unfortunately, I have to do inventory in my shed tomorrow before the cold moves in so I can get my books done! What a way to waste a perfectly nice day.

Nothing like driving on those wide open, FLAT highways in the wind! It's liking driving I-80 on almost any given day! On our 3 hour trips back to JC, the longest part of the drive always seemed to be from Manhattan to JC. Weird, huh?

We are down to 136 days! Holy Cow! I just counted, and if we use no snow days, my kids only have 63.5 days of school left! Where is the justice in that?

Patti- What day to your girls get out of school?? I seriously doubt we'll use any snow days since I don't think we'll ever have snow again around here!

I'm almost ready to pay off the cruise!

With 4 snow days, they would have gotten out at noon on June 2nd. Without, they will be out May 26. Easier in a lot of ways for most people to be out before Memorial Day. That's the way it was last year. They go back August 14th! It seems to get earlier every year.

LOL! I will remind you about the snow comment next year when the first blizzard hits!

I am ready to pay ours off, but it doesn't benefit me to. We are going to all pay ours off on April 1st.

Nothing much for Valentine's Day this year, which is EXACTLY what I asked for. I have taxes to pay on a new truck in 2 days. This isn't like paying taxes in KS! I loved registering my car there. NE has one of the highest property tax rates in the nation. In fact, they use their own program for figuring the value of the vehicle. They are taxing me at $8300 more than I paid for it! I am not one to make snap decisions on things like this, and this certainly wasn't planned! Talk about bad timing. I have my $1K football "donation" due at the end of the month.

So are most of you Castaway Club? Here's an interesting wrinkle. it's daylight savings time the day we can book! So if it's 3AM ET, that's 2AM CT, but since there isn't a 2AM, it'll e 1AM CT (ET will have already moved clocks ahead!)

Anyone staying up that night to snag Palo etc?

No Castaway Club here. First time cruisers. I think most everyone else are vets. We are having our TA do Palo for us, since there are 14 adults, with all reservations linked. She's has already spoken to DCL about it, and they suggested she take care of that. Less chance for me to screw it up and piss someone off.

Winter is back in Nebraska! I can't tell you how disappointed I am that it isn't going to be 60 degrees today. But, we are anticipating snow and/or freezing rain. However, I did get my inventory done just as the cold front moved in yesterday!

We are castaway members which means we can book our 'stuff' on April 2nd but I'm certainly not getting up at 2am or 3am or whatever it is! I'll just do it that morning but I'm not going to stress about it!

Our cruise must be paid for by April 1st in order for us as CC members to book those things and that's Alexa's birthday also! Do you suppose I could get away with just telling her "Hey, paying off the cruise is your birthday present"
I doubt she would go for that?!

Ahhh yes, winter is returning! I was really looking forward to NOT having a high heating bill but with a high of 23 on Saturday, looks like I'm going to have an awful bill!

OUCH taxes! Yep they are pretty darn bad in KS but sounds like they are worse in NE!
