July 18 Tortola cruise part 3

Hi Everyone!

Even though we are no longer there, I hope you will keep the people of Ouagadougou in your thoughts and prayers. This week the city received over a foot of rain in less than 10 hours. Everything flooded! Over 100,000 people have been left homeless and more have lost everything they own - businesses have lost their merchandise, cars and motos have floated away or are just worthless now, walls that didn't collapse are no longer structurally sound in many buildings. It is really sad.

We are still trying to trace our household staff to make sure they are okay. No one can reach our former nanny and I'm worried. Two US Embassy families had their homes flood and much of their belongings are ruined as well. One family has two girls - 6 and 4.

Please just keep them in your thoughts this week.

We will keep them in our prayers. Please keep us posted about it. :grouphug:

Thank you very much. My DD made me a great collage of pics from the cruise in a beautiful frame for my classroom.

Macavity

Hope you had a happy b'day!!!!!!:dance3:

HB Macavity........

We're thinking of you, Joann, keep us posted...........

Best wishes to everyone...that should cover my lack of posting. I've been reading, guys, but just not chatting. I guess you understand, nothing interesting has been going on. Hope everyone is well.

Just talked to Joann #2 on Facebook...still have no contact with their former nanny...how sad.

Where has BomaGreg been?

What is everyone doing this holiday weekend? School is closed today and Monday. Bob and I are headed to Ocean City, MD Saturday, Sunday, and coming home Monday (friends have a condo for a week). :cool1:

We need a reunion soon, but it won't be anytime soon with Joann #2, at $1500 for a flight...let's see, how many times can I fly to Orlando for that price!!!!:scared1::scared1:

I am still up for a day in NYC, and, MOST importantly, next summer - we have booked Bay Lake Towers for Aug. 1-6, but waiting to make ressies for either Boardwalk or Beach Club Villas the week before (can't make until 7 months)......reunion anyone - PLEASE......BomaGreg...think you can find time?:confused3

Take care of everyone, and, please don't lose touch.:grouphug::grouphug:

Hello everyone,
I too have been very neglectful of not posting, but I have been reading about everyone's adventures! Our school started last week. 2 1/2 days, to me that seems like a complete waste, DD has offically started middle school! YIKES!!:scared1: As a mom I'm totally not prepared for all the drama! This weekend was rather busy, today we went and saw the Disney's Chrismas Carol Train tour, it was neat, but when we were done there was a 2 1/2 hour wait. so not worth that long of a wait!
Joanne #2- prayers to everyone over there with the floods.

Lissa- I hope your classroom starts behaving!!

Starwood- how is your mom doing in rehab?

We were thinking of taking advantage of the kids sail free for Easter, but since there were no inside cabins, we decided against it. We will be there at Christmas and Easter so its not like we didn't have plans! I've been trying to plan for the Christmas vacation, so not looking forward to booking my ADR's. If any one will be there at that time, let me know!

I'm usually on facebook, so if anyone wants to be my friend, I'd love to have you as one, just pm me.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well!

Jill

Ok, back by popular demand...

Here are the first photos from Uganda (Sorry, Joann#2's been hogging the computer - we only have one with us during the move).

First day of school (a week ago last Monday). The box with thier brand new backpacks was delayed, so they made do with plastic sacks (poor kids!):

Our mansion (it's really not huge, but it is very nice and the girls brag that it has a balcony - like our Disney ship cabin did):

The view from upstairs (the capital city of Kampala is much bigger than good ol' Ouagadougou (wa-ga-doo-goo) and much busier - it's going to take some getting used to):

We don't have a lot of toys yet (the main shipment from Ouaga got stuck there for two months so it's still nowhere in sight - AAAARGH!) but the girls are enjoying with the boxes from our air shipment:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the house and the view! The girls look cute as usual! Thanks for sharing! Keep 'em comin'!!

Here's their competition schedule:

10/3 - BOA Pearland
10/17 Lone Star Preview Woodlands
10/24 BOA San Antonio
1114 BOA Grand Nationals - Indianapolis

You'll be less than an hour from me when you are in Indianapolis! If you've never been there, you will be AMAZED! It's such a cool downtown. There's so much to do and lots of great restaurants! I assume you are marching at Lucas Oil Stadium. Fatphil was just up there as our HS FB team played there. He said it was AWESOME!

Great pics, Aaron, thanks for sharing. We'd love to see more when you get a chance. The house looks beautiful. I'll bet you can't wait until your things arrive.

JoAnn #1 - Good luck with school tomorrow. We have our faculty meeting on Tues and then kids new to the school from Wed to Fri. The whole school starts the day after Labor Day.

GL with the start of your school Mary Ann! I have been in three weeks now. I really like my kids so far! ;)

HB Macavity........

We're thinking of you, Joann, keep us posted...........

Yes, Happy Belated Birthday McCavity!

JoAnn - I hope you are able to locate your former Nanny. Definite prayers to the families affected there.

Mark is leaving for Orlando Tuesday for his conference. I am leaving on Thursday to meet him there! Maybe I'll run into Greg and Marcy while at Earl! LOL!!! We will be at the Gaylord until Sat., then checking into "home" at BWV! I cannot wait to go! It's been 14 months since we have stayed there. That's WAY TOO LONG!!!!

Hey all and Happy Labor Day! We're having an eventful weekend, with one of my DD's BFs experiencing a severe sinus infection including a trip to the ER. Hopefully, he'll be healing up soon......yikes!:confused3

Have fun in WDW Jenny and Mark!:goodvibes

Hopefully, our last day of the weekend, will be less exciting and more relaxing..........best wishes to all! And Happy Back to School to all who start this week!!!:teacher:

Lucy, maybe we can do a day around Christmas time. JoAnn, what do you think?

Jennie,
Hope you and Mark have a great time!!!

Thanks for the back to school wishes. All students have their first day tomorrow. JoAnn, glad you love your kids.

JoAnn #2, any Nanny news?

Enjoy the official end of summer today.

Mom is doing great in rehab. Today she is going to start working on stairs. She is going crazy there and wants out. Her only problem right now is her blood sugar is going crazy (she's diabetic). She has a doctor's appointment Friday which I'm going to see if she can keep and just take her there myself.

Didn't a bunch of Disers take pictures at the meet? We need to get some of these uploaded.

We'll be at Universal this weekend . . . new roller coaster, here we come!

Starwood and Family and Macavity and family ARE CRUISING TO ALASKA summer of 2011.... anyone joining us? We will be looking at late July early August......

Starwood is a gold level, so we will get to book a week early YAHOO for Gold Status... it will be forever before I reach that level LOL!

Checking in..

We were thinking of going to Alaska next summer, but now that Disney has said they were going in 2011 we are rethinking. It would be the beginning of July/end of June. We will wait until prices come out.

Does any one have any experience with any of the other cruise lines? We have kids so it would have to be kid friendly!

We finished the first week of school. DD seems to enjoy 7th grade - as of today! :) You never know with her. Soccer and volleyball has started so it is a busy week with home work too.

Having reviewed the new itineraries for 2011..............we're thinking of the Med cruise with the new ports and still want to sail on a short Dreams cruise that summer.............waiting for our TA's email on Monday to prebook........:goodvibes

We're not sure what we're doing either. After doing the Baltic next year, I was hoping to go somewhere warmer in 2011. We'd love to do Alaska, just not sure if we want to do it in 2011. We were looking into a ABD. We'll wait a bit to see prices/points and then decide.

We are going to be doing the Med in 2011. While we are interested in Alaska with the Wonder being in LA I suspect that is something they will offer again.

Lissa

Very cool.............after mulling this over, i've decided that our trip in 2007, was so special, so doing another Med with some new and some favorite ports will be ideal! Still deciding dates............
