July 18 Tortola cruise part 3

I'm not sure that will work.... but good idea....

I love the dress! She'll look great in it.

I feel your pain - I am waiting on the TV repairman today. 3 weeks ago we had them come out ($100). I told them what it was doing and showed a picture on my cellphone. They wanted to take the TV - they never even opened it up. I told them they weren't taking the TV and they could get the parts. I thought they were there to fix it because I told them on the phone what it was doing. They said they would have the parts by Mon or Tues next week. Wed I called them and they said oh no they are still "researching" the parts and it will take 5-7 business days from when they order them. They are finally coming today and the total cost will be about $500. Never again. The next time I will just replace the TV. The TV is only about 3 years old so I didn't want to get rid of it.

I hate this throw away society mentality.

My problem with repairing televisions is that when something goes, it has a tendency to *keep* going. Last year I spent two hundred bucks on repairing a television, only to have it go again with another problem a few weeks ago. Another couple of hundred dollars and I could've had the same size television in an HD model. As painful as it is, sometimes it's just simply better to replace them than it is to fix them. Repairmen are typically a ripoff.

I took a couple days off..........I had 45 pages to read!!!!:scared1:

I am leading the "Get BomaJack a pirate" crusade!! I'd hate for the guy to show up without one!

"I, Jenny, promise to not participate in any future pirate races until Greg gets a pirate!"

Here's to you buddy!!!

No, no! I have to EARN it! If I don't earn a pirate, it won't feel right! I'll get it eventually... pirate:

But it's awfully nice of you to offer! :)

So DD2 decided that 5:30am was a good wake-up time this morning. That of course woke up DD7. DH got up early yesterday, so my turn this morning! Ugh! Wish I drank coffee...:headache:

I finished the door magnets last night. They all turned out except one. It was a Nemo design that I thought was really cute. Since I didn't have any more magnet paper, I redid it on regular paper and cut out the original one to make a magnet frame. We'll see. DD2 is REALLY into Nemo all of the sudden. Every time I turn around she's asking "Nemo? Dori?" You should have seen her at the aquarium at SeaWorld, running from glass to glass pointing, "Look! Dori!" Unfortunately, they didn't have any clown fish. :confused3

So I popped in the DVD for the 100th time this week and she's lounging in front of the TV waiting for the sun to come up. I decided to jump on the DIS and see if I could catch the early morning pirate pirate: run.

The computer is in DD2 bedroom here, so all these late night and naptime runs are hard for me. :sad2:

Pixie dust for BomaJack and Jamie! pixiedust:

I've been trying to convince my DM that I'm not crazy. Not sure I'll win that one...:rolleyes1 But yesterday when I was frantically trying to recreate all our door magnets, I posted a request on the door magnet board. I could find ones for everyone except DD7 and me. Within an hour, someone posted two Mickey heads - a princess and a minnie - for us with our names. Now everyone in the family has their own special one created just for them. I was sooooo touched! :flower3: I told my Mom, "See? These are really nice people and I'm not weird to want to prepare and have fun with this cruise. There are lots of other folks just like me!!!!!" :thumbsup2 :grouphug:

Yes, that's the one. My DD seems to be in a board game mode lately. So every night we have been playing a stack of games together. When my DD wants a mother-daughter day, this is her idea of what we should do. No spa day yet for her.

It's one of the few games that both my girls can play without any age problems and still have fun. :)

There's an old Cranium game from Starbucks called Bingo Bunch that I got on clearance a long time ago, and is a sort of Bingo style game with dice. You deal out a bunch of cards with different mixed up people and make a Bingo-style grid with them. After that, you roll the dice with the mixed up people's bodies and heads on them and flip over a card that has that combination. The first person who makes a straight line ala Bingo (or corners, or whatever you want to do to mix it up) wins! It's a brilliantly simple game that you can add or subtract cards to and from to make it as long as you want it to be. We took it on our last Disney cruise because it was so small, and spent a ton of free time playing it. :)

Other than that, though, I'm a Monopoly fan through and through. :)

Okay - so today is laundry :laundy: and packing day. We are trying to pack so that we only need to open one suitcase (maybe two) while we are at WDW.

I also need to go see the dr. Two weeks ago when we got here my ear didn't clear properly and it's been stuffy ever since. It would hurt a little and then go away, then come back. Well, this morning it hurts! I am not getting on a plane tomorrow with a hurting ear. So guess I'll just drag myself down to the Urgent care and make sure there's not some infection lurking in there just waiting to flare up the day I get on the ship!

Just about finished with all the FE. Gotta put the finishing touches on the last handmade item. I got 30 of them done! :woohoo: Hope you like them! (Don't worry - very small and lightweight - you could fit them in a book actually...:rolleyes1) Of course, I can't completely finish the bags until the ship because DH shipped one of the components. Individually, this are very small - but collectively they weighed a ton - so DH insisted they get mailed to ship. So I'll have to wait to finalize everything until we get onboard.

Yippeee! Tomorrow we'll be at WDW!!!! :cheer2:

Did a 'dry run' for packing yesterday and found out that not everything is going to fit in the large suitcase and garmet bag.:headache: Looks like we will have to have DD move up to the medium size suitcase. I was hoping we wouldn't need too. :sad2:

We laugh about that we. We are very strict and tell the kids they should never talk to anyone on the internet much less actually make plans to meet anyone they would have talked to. Yet here we are doing it ourselvesw!!

Well, it's a great testament to your relationship with your daughter that she's 14 and wants to play board games with you instead of hiding in her room and text messaging!

If Abbie (she's 6) had her way, she would spend the entire cruise in the cabin playing board games. And ordering Mickey Bars. :mickeybar:mickeybar:

Were you really going to bring 2 bags for three people? :worship: I'm afraid to see how many bags we end up with this time.

LOL! :rotfl:

I can see the reverse discussion now:

But mom, she said she was going to give me presents.
What kind of presents?
Presents in my fish extender.
Your fish whaaat?
And we posted our pictures so we'd be able to recognize each other when we met.
Did you provide any other information?
Well, my name. And my hometown. And my cabin number. Oh, and I told her I'd be wearing a special shirt on the first day we met.

I tell dd that ALL the time! here we are breaking are own rules! But I can't wait. It seems like I know all you anyways! :)

Joanne- good luck at the dr today. I hope it gets cleared up before you get on the plane.

SCminnie- I feel your pain. for the 3 of us we are checking a garment bag, medium suitcase, a Carry on suitcase. then the 3 of us each are having a rollng carry on suitcase. Not enough room at all!

Have you ever played Sleeping Queens???

Our daughters love this game. It's a small card game (I think you can get it on Amazon). But it's fun for older kids (aka parents), educational (there's simple math involved), but entertaining for both our 5 and 7 year-old girls. Since they love princesses, DH thought he'd give it a try. Well worth the $10 price tag! :thumbsup2

:lmao:

DD has a small bag and was trying to get DH and I into the large one and a garment bag. Could still probably make everything fit but wouldn't have room for the FE gifts.

See, DH does exist :thumbsup2 He's moved out of lurking status - we must be getting close to sail away! :cool1:

Either that or he's bored at work...

We ended up one more suitcase than we hoped even after we have cut down on what we are bringing! It is SOOOOOOOO much easier when we cruise out of Galveston! Just 2 of us and no airplanes to worry about!
