July 18 Tortola cruise part 3

Glad they're coming home! Do you have to do all the new wash before they can pack.....yikes!!:laundy:

Luckily I don't. I don't want to come close to their laundry. They had a set of clothes to travel in, one set to wear on the trail, and one set on their bodies. That's it. And none of that stuff is coming with us this week. I told them to just burn the stuff they wore on the trail and not even bring it home.:rotfl: DH gets to sort all the stuff while we are gone and repack for our DS to go to camp the day after we get back.

DS is still sleeping at 2 PM.

One of the major pieces of heat training ds14's band directors keep stressing is limit/no dairy in the morning when it's hot. 1st day of parade practice in 98+ temps, the band knew exactly who had dairy and who didn't...ewww...

The girls' soccer camp included a "no dairy!" direction as part of the camp brochues!

We LOVE Bobby Knight! We actually lived in the subdivision next to his when he lived in Bloomington. We took a trip to TTU the first year he was there. All because of a letter I wrote him we got to go to practice twice, he took DH out to dinner with a bunch of guys and I went out to dinner with his wife! Surreal experience............... Yes, Pat Knight is the coach at TTU.

U of E is a FANTASTIC school!

Cool! Did he throw anything while he was at dinner? I think I would be disappointed if he didn't... :)

I grew up in a small farming community called Francisco, which is sandwiched between Oakland City and Princeton. I loved it when I grew up there, but after the coal mines shut down, money stopped pouring into the town and it's horribly run down, now. My parents have since moved to Newburgh, which is basically a beautiful suburb of Evansville, and sits right on the river. Not sure why they waited until my brother and I left, but it seems somewhat unfair, now. Especially considering the fact that my schools were horrible.

Now, I've officially adopted Florida as my home state, even if I fought it for several years before recognizing the GOOD stuff that's here (other than Disney, of course). There's some great history, and some wonderful places to visit if you just look hard enough. :)

It's no NYC, though...

My friend Barb who lives right by WDW says the MK area has been having the most rain and that we should bring our ponchos for the parks and port. Ugh. There's few things I hate more than ponchos in 92 degree weather. :headache:

I never thought of that. I'll have to remember it for when she starts try-outs in August (during our normal crusing time, but you guys have made this cruise so much fun).

Maybe I'll go pack some things?

How has the weather been in the WDW this week?

What she said. I sprint from the house to the van because I'm afraid I'll overheat if I stay out longer than ten seconds. It's brutal... This is why most Floridians love it when it rains. :)

Just a little North of Evansville, right near the tri-state tip. I know a little about basketball, like that it's round, and bounces, and I have to throw it through the hoop. Other than that, though... Nothing. :)

Very odd...we have so much in common. We only live a few miles apart, we love Disney, you go to UCF and I work here...and I was born in Evansville, IN. We moved to FL when I was less than 1....but very funny :rotfl: I was hoping that I recognized you both from the posted picture but I don't...come on...Oviedo/Tuskawilla isn't that big!!!

Is it still raining a ton?

The skies open up in the late afternoon... usually for about thirty minutes to an hour. But that's typical Florida weather during hurricane season, and it only feels weird because we've had droughts down here for years, now. Most park visitors will love it because it's a great reprieve from the heat of the day, and usually clears out the early visitors so that the park is empty toward the evening (Or at least more empty). The only drawback is that if the rains come early enough, and the sun comes back out after the rain, it's not only just as hot, but the humidity is unbearable.

But that's when you hit the water parks. :)

If you've ever been to Oviedo Marketplace, you've almost definitely seen me. I'm always there for the free A/C and lunch at Subway. :thumbsup2

Plus, I look a lot grungier than the picture that Marcy posted, because I rarely shave and I'm always wearing ripped shorts and t-shirts. Basically, if you've ever seen a guy in the mall and the first words that popped into your head were, "There's a slacker..." that was probably me. :)

It IS really weird that we came from the same area and ended up so close, though! What are the chances of that?

I think this year it is going to kill me. Here in MD it has been between 78°-84° with low humidity. Very nice. My DH will probably go sailing while we are away. Perfect weather for it.

.

The move to Tech was a good one for him. We lived in Chicago during the Bobby Knight years - not saying he didn't deserve his reputation - but, the media loved to hate him, I think he was put under a microscope and the pressure was intense to produce championship teams. Tech like the rest of the big Texas schools, live and breath football, so the spotlight was/is not quite as intense. He still had his temper tantrums, but he wasn't crucified as much by the Texas media as like the tri-state media did when he was at Indiana.

Here I'm looking forward to cooling off in Florida tomorrow :) - we've set record temperatures of close to and over 100 every day.

Yeah... He got a lot of grief for his actions, which I always thought was funny because every PE teacher I ever had threw chairs and kicked over tables. And that was PE. It just seemed like that was a natural response for coaches until I moved out of the state and found out otherwise... :)
